LOS ANGELES - A plane was stopped from leaving Los Angeles International Airport yesterday after a man rushed to a restroom before takeoff. Two men on board were taken into custody, police said.
Police Lieutenant John Romero said the men, who appeared to be of Middle Eastern descent, were acting suspiciously but officials determined that there was no threat aboard the aircraft....

The plane was taken to a remote area of the airport to be searched by a bomb squad, officials said. Nothing was found on the plane or in the baggage of the man and his companion.
The police department’s antiterrorism unit and the FBI were investigating, but an FBI official said no charges are expected, the Associated Press reported....

Yesterday’s hoax was the second in a month. On Sept. 17, a flight en route from Miami to Boston made an emergency landing back in Miami after a flight attendant found a similar note in the lavatory. A sweep of the plane found no suspicious items.
