Pakistan Continues Latest Offensive

I say that because they WIND ONE UP as soon as they WIND ONE DOWN -- which makes for one LONG, CONTINUOUS OFFENSIVE for THOSE THAT LIVE THERE, huh?

"Pakistani jets strike at militants along Afghan border" by Ishtiaq Mahsud, Associated Press | October 14, 2009

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan - Pakistani jets softened up militant targets along the Afghan border yesterday ahead of what the government promises will be a ground offensive into the Taliban’s main stronghold, authorities said.

The resolve to send large numbers of troops on a risky operation into mountainous South Waziristan has deepened after a week of attacks around the country along with ominous signs that different militant groups are now working in tandem. The military says 80 percent of the attacks in Pakistan are planned from the remote region but that militants from the Punjab province in the heart of the country helped the Taliban carry out last weekend’s bold assault on army headquarters just outside the capital.

Which really makes you ask CUI BONO?

The United States has been encouraging Pakistan to take strong action against insurgents who are using its soil as a base for attacks in Afghanistan.

There is your answer.

But a push into rugged South Waziristan could be difficult for the army, which was beaten back on three previous offensives into the Taliban heartland there and forced to sign peace deals.

Now that SURE IS NOT WHAT the GOVERNMENTS and the AmeriKan MSM have been telling us. We were told the area had been cleared and was under control!

Yesterday’s bombing raids came as Pakistan’s foreign minister visited Washington to persuade officials to change the terms of a US aid bill. The legislation promises $1.5 billion a year over the next five years - but on the condition that Pakistan’s weak, US-backed civilian government maintain effective control over the military.

Yeah, funny how those bombing coincided with the Pakistanis telling off the Americans.

Senator John Kerry, who cosponsored the bill, sought to soothe anger, saying lawmakers would provide written assurances that the United States has no intention of interfering with Pakistan’s sovereignty.

"Police: 6 dead in suicide car bomb in NW Pakistan" by Ishtiaq Mahsud, Associated Press Writer | October 14, 2009

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan (AP) -- Streams of civilians jammed into cars and trucks to flee the militant stronghold of South Waziristan as the government pounded the area with air strikes ahead of an expected ground offensive against the Taliban along Pakistan's border with Afghanistan.

So the WORLD'S WORST REFUGEE CRISIS you NEVER HEARD ABOUT gets WORSE!

Hundreds of families have left their villages in South Waziristan as air strikes pound suspected Taliban hide-outs.

What always amazes me is the TREMENDOUS COLORS of the Pakistan people -- something that is minimized here in America. The Zionist MSM has us all thinking turbans, dusty plains, and monkey-bar drills.

Early Thursday, a suspected U.S. missile strike hit neighboring North Waziristan, killing four alleged militants as the Americans, too, kept up pressure on insurgents in Pakistan's lawless tribal belt, intelligence officials said.

More blood on Obama's Peace Prize hands.

Separately, an explosion outside a police station rocked a district near the tribal regions, and police said casualties were feared. Bombing runs over suspected militant hide-outs have sharply increased in recent days after a string of bloody attacks on military and civilian targets killed scores of people across Pakistan. Government officials said the wave of terror was forcing them to take the fight to the insurgents' heartland.

But it FORCED THEM INTO PEACE DEALS yesterday!!!!!

And CUI BONO?

The army, which gave no timeframe for the offensive, has reportedly already sent two divisions totaling 28,000 men and blockaded the region. Fearing the looming offensive, about 200,000 people have fled South Waziristan since August, moving in with relatives or renting homes in the Tank and Dera Ismail Khan areas, a local government official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media.

I can't imagine Americans doing that, I just can't. They don't. I don't. I can't.

The exodus intensified with the increase in airstrikes in recent days. Since the weekend, about 80 vehicles a day have been carrying fleeing families past one checkpoint at Chonda on the edge of Dera Ismail Khan, said Naimatullah Khan, a police officer based there.

Police at the isolated checkpoint stopped the departing vehicles Wednesday, checked people's identification, searched their luggage and frisked some of them. Many of those fleeing had to take circuitous routes over back roads to dodge the military blockade.

Haji Ayub Mehsud, 55, said the increased bombing forced him to flee with his six children. "It is difficult for local people to stay there in peace. I had to bring out my family," Mehsud told an AP reporter at Chonda. In new bombing Wednesday afternoon, military jets pounded a cave in the Spinkai area, killing eight people, officials said.

Are you kidding me? They BOMBED a CAVE?

Local tribesmen said the victims were all civilians, including three women and three children, who had abandoned their home and fled to the cave to seek shelter from the heavy shelling.

This is so upsetting to me.

I want the MASS MURDER to STOP RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!

The two tribesmen spoke on condition of anonymity because they feared reprisals if they spoke to the media. Intelligence officials, however, said the bombs hit a suspected militant hide-out, killing eight insurgents. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

Well, I KNOW WHO I am BELIEVING, and it AIN'T SOME LYING US PUKE or PAPER!

Independent confirmation of the attack was not available. The army has barred reporters from the region.

But no big fuss if it were like, Iran say. Sort of the same treatment Israel gets for keeping reporters out of Gaza, except that is never even mentioned in Israel's case when it comes to AmeriKa's MSM.

The strike in the rugged, mountainous region came after a wave of air attacks late Tuesday and early Wednesday that killed nine insurgents, the intelligence officials said....

An offensive in South Waziristan is not expected to create anywhere near the refugee problem the government faced when its Swat Valley offensive earlier this year rapidly displaced 2 million people and forced many into tent camps.

The amount has ONLY INCREASED SINCE THEN as the MSM is ONCE AGAIN LOW-BALLING ATROCITIES when committed by "our side."

The residents of South Waziristan have had plenty of warning about the expected operation, appear to have places to stay nearby and the region has far fewer residents, with population estimates of around 500,000 before the recent exodus.

Well, when you KILL a lot of them, that is going to happen!

The U.S. has encouraged Pakistan to take strong action against insurgents who are using its soil as a base for attacks in Afghanistan, where U.S. troops are bogged down in an increasingly difficult war.

And CUI BONO?

The U.S. has carried out a slew of its own missile strikes in South and North Waziristan over the past year.... The early Thursday strike hit a compound in Dande Derpa Khel, an area in North Waziristan where members of the militant network led by Jalaluddin Haqqani are believed to operate.

Haqqani the TERRORIST?

"Haqqani.... credited with introducing suicide bombing to the region.... cultivated as a "unilateral" asset of the CIA and received tens of thousands of dollars in cash for his work.... He may have had a role in expediting the escape of Osama Bin Laden.... In July 2008, CIA officials confronted Pakistan officials with evidence of ties between Inter-Services Intelligence and Haqqani. Haqqani has been accused of involvement in the 2008 Indian embassy bombing in Kabul...."

The two intelligence officials who gave word of the strike said the identities of the four killed were unclear, but that they were believed to be militants. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to media on the record. Pakistani formally protests the missile strikes as violations of its sovereignty, but many analysts believe it has a secret deal with the U.S. allowing them.

Yeah, and NOT ONLY THAT they are JOINING in the KILLING!!!

The Thursday morning explosion occurred in Kohat district, a rough region near the tribal areas. It was not immediately clear what sort of blast it was or whether a suicide attacker was involved. Police official Habib Khan said casualties were feared.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE.

Police say a suicide bomber rammed his explosives-laden vehicle into a police station in northwest Pakistan, killing six people in the blast. Police official Habib Khan says police and civilians were among the dead Thursday in Kohat district, an area close to the militant-riddled tribal regions. Some 20 people were wounded....

LAHORE, Pakistan - Teams of gunmen attacked three law enforcement facilities this morning, plunging Pakistan’s eastern city of Lahore into chaos and sharply escalating an audacious wave of terror strikes as this country prepares for a US-backed offensive in a Taliban and Al Qaeda stronghold....
