Praying For a Beer in Massachusetts

I usually try and wait until noon....

"Bill would allow liquor earlier on Sundays

Massachusetts restaurants are hoping a bill that would let them serve liquor starting at 10 a.m. on Sundays could boost brunch sales.

Who is boozing at 10 in the morning?

You got a problem.

Under current law, restaurants are banned from serving alcohol until noon. They say that hurts their brunch customers, many of whom want a drink with their early meal.

Maybe they should be going to the hospital instead of brunch.

Every other day of the week, restaurants can serve liquor beginning at 8 a.m. The bill’s spokesman is Dave Andelman, creator of the Phantom Gourmet television show. Andelman said the bill could also be a boon to tourism.

You guys are REALLY, REALLY REACHING!

The bill has the backing of top Republicans and Democrats in the Legislature, including Senate minority leader Richard Tisei, Republican of Wakefield, and Senate Ways and Means chairman Steven Panagiotakos, Democrat of Lowell (AP)."

Has it gone anywhere or are they nursing it?

Update:

"
Obama to get beer care package from Maine brewers

President Barack Obama's lighthearted request for free beer in exchange for a shout out to a small business owner is yielding suds for the White House refrigerator. Bill Milliken, now known as Bill the Beer Guy, arranged for Maine breweries to fill a giant basket with 14 varieties of beer for the commander in chief. Gov. John Baldacci, U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree and beer company representatives joined him for Monday's official send-off in downtown Portland. Milliken, 44, was singled out this month by Obama at a health care rally as a small business owner who'd benefit from the federal health care reform law. The president jokingly said, "In exchange for this publicity, I hope I'm going to get some samples of beer, OK?"
