Aid Workers Killed in Afghanistan

The question is by who?

"US/Israeli agents carried out the killings to try to justify a continued US occupation of Afghanistan in the face of growing opposition to the wars." -- Wake the Flock Up

He's not the only one seeing it that way.

"White Men Rescue Brown Women From Brown Men..

The media is, again, drumming up support for expansion of the war in Afghanistan by appealing to women’s rights. This was precisely the same strategy employed during the war in Iraq, when statistics about female kidnapping, honor killings and so on were massaged to argue that further American intervention in the area was needed, when, in point of fact, the opposite was true - it was the US intervention that had provoked the deterioration in the general economic picture and, as a consequence, the treatment of women. This is in keeping with the old colonial strategy described by post-colonial feminist critics - “White men rescuing brown women from brown men…”

"Police find 10 bodies in north Afghanistan" by Amir Shah, Associated Press | August 7, 2010

KABUL, Afghanistan —The bodies of 10 people, including eight foreigners, were recovered yesterday in a remote area of Badakhshan Province in northern Afghanistan, police said.

The provincial police chief, General Agha Noor Kemtuz, said the victims, who had been shot, were found next to three four-wheel drive vehicles in Kuran Wa Munjan district. He said two Afghan men were found dead along with eight others — three women and five men — whose nationalities were not known.

It was unclear what the group was doing in the forested area away from main routes through the province.

Now at this point I'm thinking they are spies like the Navy men.

Kemtuz speculated that robbery could have been a motive in the killings. “We couldn’t find any passports or anything,’’ he said. “Nothing was left behind.’’

Villagers reported seeing foreigners traveling in four-wheel drive vehicles in the area about 15 days ago, Kemtuz said. About two days ago, villagers told police that they saw the vehicles abandoned and search crews were sent to the area to investigate, he said....

"Afghan medical mission ends in death for 10" by Kathy Gannon, Associated Press Writer | August 7, 2010

KABUL, Afghanistan --They hiked for more than 10 hours over rugged mountains -- unarmed and without security -- to bring medical care to isolated Afghan villagers until their humanitarian mission took a tragic turn.

Ten members of the Christian medical team -- six Americans, two Afghans, one German and a Briton -- were gunned down in a gruesome slaughter that the Taliban said they carried out, alleging the volunteers were spying and trying to convert Muslims to Christianity.

Well, I'm still thinking spies.

The gunmen spared an Afghan driver, who recited verses from the Islamic holy book Quran as he begged for his life.

Team members -- doctors, nurses and logistics personnel -- were attacked as they were returning to Kabul after their two-week mission in the remote Parun valley of Nuristan province about 160 miles north of Kabul.

They had decided to veer northward into Badakhshan province because they thought that would be the safest route back to Kabul, said Dirk Frans, director of the International Assistance Mission, which organized the team.

The bullet-riddled bodies -- including three women -- were found Friday near three four-wheeled drive vehicles in a wooded area just off the main road that snakes through a narrow valley in the Kuran Wa Munjan district of Badakhshan, provincial police chief Gen. Agha Noor Kemtuz told The Associated Press.

One of the dead Americans had spent about 30 years in Afghanistan, rearing three daughters and surviving both the Soviet invasion and bloody civil war of the 1990s that destroyed much of Kabul.

Sniff, sniff, sniff?

I'm catching the whiff of something, readers.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid told the AP that they killed the foreigners because they were "spying for the Americans" and "preaching Christianity." In a Pashto language statement acquired by the AP, the Taliban also said the team was carrying Dari language bibles and "spying gadgets."

Yeah, I'm really going to believe AP because someone gave them a piece of paper.

Sigh.

Frans said the International Assistance Mission, or IAM, one of the longest serving non-governmental organizations operating in Afghanistan, is registered as a nonprofit Christian organization but does not proselytize.

Through the Taliban years?

Frans said the team had driven to Nuristan, left their vehicles and hiked for nearly a half day with pack horses over mountainous terrain to reach the Parun valley where they traveled from village to village on foot offering medical care for about two weeks....

Among the dead was team leader Tom Little, an optometrist from Delmar, New York, who has been working in Afghanistan for about 30 years and spoke fluent Dari, one of the two main Afghan languages, Frans said.

So there was no chance of any miscommunication.

Little, along with employees from other Christian organizations, were expelled by the Taliban government in August 2001 after the arrest of eight Christian aid workers -- two Americans and six Germans -- for allegedly trying to convert Afghans to Christianity.

He returned to Afghanistan after the Taliban government was toppled in November 2001 by U.S.-backed forces. Known in Kabul as "Mr. Tom," Little supervised a network of IAM eye hospitals and clinics around the country largely funded through private donations.

"He was a remarkable man, and very committed to helping the people of Afghanistan," said David Evans of the Loudonville Community Church, New York, who accompanied Little on a 5,231-mile road trip to deliver the medical team's Land Rover vehicles from England to Kabul in 2004.

"They raised their three girls there. He was part and parcel of that culture," Evans said.

Then THEY WERE NOT KILLED by TALIBAN!!

Little had been making such trips to Afghan villages for decades, offering vision care and surgical services in regions where medical services of any type are scarce.

The work has long been fraught with risk, but Evans said Little was a natural for the job. He spoke the language, knew the local customs, and had the patience and diplomatic skills to handle sticky situations....

Not when he is trying to deal with AmeriKan assassins!

The Parun valley, a harsh, isolated area about 9,500 feet above sea level where an estimated 50,000 people eke out a primitive existence as shepherds and subsistence farmers.

Yup, people who JUST WANTED to be LEFT ALONE!

Frans told the AP that he was skeptical the Taliban were responsible. He said the team had studied security conditions carefully before continuing with the mission.

So are MANY PEOPLE!

"We are a humanitarian organization. We had no security people. We had no armed guards. We had no weapons," he said..

Authorities in Nuristan heard that foreigners were in the area and sent police to investigate, according to Nuristan Gov. Jamaluddin Bader. The police provided security for the final three or four days of the mission and escorted them across the boundary into Badakhshan, he said. The escorts left after the team told them that they felt safe in Badakhshan, he added....

And THEY WERE had it not been for SOME ASSASSINATION SQUAD sponsored by the CIA!

"Slain volunteers spent years in Afghanistan; Kin deny charges of proselytizing" by Robert H. Reid, Associated Press | August 9, 2010

KABUL, Afghanistan — The bodies of 10 slain medical volunteers — six Americans, two Afghans, a German, and a Briton — were flown back to Kabul by helicopter yesterday, as friends and family bitterly rejected Taliban claims that the group had tried to convert Afghans to Christianity.

They are rejecting the alleged claims in my lying, agenda-pushing, Muslim-hating, war-promoting PoS paper, folks.

And look at the Zionist agenda-pushers ONCE AGAIN PIT Muslims against Christians!

Also flown to the capital was the lone survivor of the attack, an Afghan driver who said he was spared because he was a Muslim and recited Islamic holy verses as he begged for his life. The International Assistance Mission, which organized the trip, said the driver had been a trusted employee with four years of service.

Police said they don’t know whether he is a witness or an accomplice in the killings, which are claimed by the Taliban.

“We are heartbroken by the loss of these heroic, generous people,’’ Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said in Washington. She condemned the Taliban for the deaths and a “transparent attempt to justify the unjustifiable by making false accusations about their activities.’’

Tell it to an AmeriKan newspaper, you drunken bitch.

The group had spent two weeks treating villagers in a remote valley in northern Afghanistan for eye diseases and other ailments before being ambushed by extremists on their way back to Kabul....

Some of the victims had devoted decades of their lives to helping the Afghan people through war and deprivation.

And the Afghans killed them for it?

Team leader Tom Little, 61, an optometrist from Delmar, N.Y., had been working in Afghanistan for more than 30 years. He and his wife, Libby, raised three daughters in Kabul, sticking it out through the Soviet invasion of the 1980s and the vicious civil war of the 1990s, when Afghan warlords rained rockets on the city.

They were briefly expelled with other Western aid workers in August 2001 but returned after the Taliban were ousted from power three months later. Little supervised a string of hospitals and clinics offering treatment for eye diseases....

"Despite slayings, group to stay on; No proselytizing of Afghans, it says" by Robert H. Reid, Associated Press | August 10, 2010

KABUL, Afghanistan — A Christian charity group said yesterday it has no plans to leave Afghanistan despite the killings last week of 10 members of its medical aid team, six of them Americans.

Police were holding the lone Afghan survivor for questioning, insisting he is not a suspect, although authorities have lingering questions about his account of the massacre in northern Afghanistan.

The survivor, a driver named Saifullah who had worked for the humanitarian group for four years, was flown to Kabul on Sunday from Badakhshan Province. Also taken to the capital were the bodies of the six Americans, two Afghans, a Briton, and a German who were gunned down after finishing a two-week medical mission treating Afghan villagers in the Parun Valley of Nuristan Province.

The attack, far from the main theaters of the war in the east and south, underscored the growing insecurity in the region.

It was also the biggest assault on foreign Christians since the 2007 kidnapping of 23 South Korean missionaries by the Taliban in Ghazni Province. Two male hostages were slain before the South Korean government negotiated the others’ release the following month.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the Thursday murders, alleging that the group, most of them devout Christians, were spies and tried to convert Muslims. However, some local officials suspect the attack was carried out by low-level criminals unaffiliated with the Taliban.

US Embassy spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden said the FBI has opened an investigation into the deaths in cooperation with Afghan authorities....

WTF is the FBI doing WAY OVER THERE?

Dirk Frans, the director of International Assistance Mission, said “as things stand right now’’ his organization has no plans to leave Afghanistan, having operated here during the Soviet occupation of the 1980s, the civil war of the 1990s, and five years of Taliban rule....

Which means the TALIBAN KNEW WHO HE WAS and would NOT HAVE KILLED THEM!

As a sign of the group’s commitment to Afghanistan, Frans said, the families of five of the eight foreigners had chosen to bury their relatives there.

Oh, that is SUCH a SIGN of RESPECT it makes one CRY!!!!!

Yeah, well, the GLOBE WOULD KNOW ALL ABOUT FAKE WARS, huh?

KABUL, Afghanistan — A Christian charity group said yesterday that it believes militants, not robbers, killed 10 members of its medical team last week in a remote area of northern Afghanistan.

In the first days after the attack, the group’s leaders had said they suspected the team was set upon by robbers, even as the Taliban claimed responsibility. Local police had also said they suspected a criminal motive behind the killing of six Americans, two Afghans, a German, and a Briton in the northern province of Badakhshan.

“Our own research suggests that the murders were not a robbery,’’ Dirk Frans, director of the International Assistance Mission, said in a statement. “We are now working on the assumption that the attack was an opportunistic ambush by a group of nonlocal fighters.’’

That doesn't really implicate Taliban, does it?

Caitlin Hayden, a spokeswoman for the US Embassy, said the bodies of four of the Americans, escorted by FBI personnel, began their journey back to the United States on Wednesday aboard US military aircraft.

Couldn't find any other planes?

They were flown from Kabul to Bagram Airfield, outside the capital, and from there, they will continue on to the United States.

Frans said the team was attacked as it made its return trip toward Kabul from remote Nuristan Province where it dispensed medical care to villagers. The aid workers were set upon by gunmen as they got out of their vehicles to take a rest after crossing a swollen river just across the boundary in Badakhshan.

The account squares with that given by the lone survivor, the team’s Afghan driver Safiullah, who Frans said has been released by Afghan authorities after questioning. An official who was familiar with Safiullah’s testimony recounted it to the Associated Press. The official requested anonymity because he was not authorized to release details of an ongoing investigation.

According to Safiullah, who goes by one name, an Afghan man in the area offered to help the team as it was trying to cross the river. Two members of the team — including leader Tom Little, an optometrist from Delmar, N.Y., who had worked in Afghanistan since the late 1970s — rolled up their pants and waded in to find a spot shallow enough for the vehicles to ford the river.

After successfully crossing the river, the team stopped to take a break in a forested area at the side of the road, which ran through a narrow valley. The aid workers wanted to get ready for their long journey back though Badakhshan Province and on to Kabul.

The Afghan man who had offered to help the group left. Then came the attack. The gunmen rushed in, firing bullets over the medical team members’ heads. Moments later 10 of the team members were dead.

It appears that the gunmen came from the Barg-e-Matal district of Nuristan, which is closer to the Pakistani border. Insurgent infiltration has increased in that area since the United States abandoned small combat outposts that proved too difficult to defend and resupply.

Oh, so NOW Pakistan was SOMEHOW INVOLVED!

Yeah, if you are going to SHOVEL PROPAGANDA you might as well make it a HUGE LOG!!!

Safiullah told investigators he believes the lead gunman was Pakistani because he yelled “Jadee! Jadee!’’ — a word used in several regional languages that means “hurry up.’’ It is more commonly used in Pakistan and India than in Afghanistan.

I'm smelling something bad here, readers.

A dialect spoken in INDIA, too, huh?

So WHICH INDIAN INTEL AGENCY do THEY WORK FOR?

He said all the attackers understood Dari and Pashto, the two main languages spoken in Afghanistan, but conversed in Pashaye, a local dialect used only in parts of the northeast corner of Afghanistan.

Yeah, they KNEW MANY LANGUAGES, huh?

I guess they WERE NOT LOCALS!

More like CIA-TRAINED TERRORISTS!!!!!!!

Safiullah was taken hostage by the attackers and said they walked toward a flashing light that Safiullah said was meant to guide them to a village near Barg-e-Matal, a scene of heavy fighting in recent weeks between government forces and militants who crossed over from Pakistan.

The attackers later let Safiullah go, and he fled, finding his way back to the town in Nuristan, where the aid workers had left their three four-wheel-drive vehicles and rented eight horses at the beginning of the trip....

I'm supposed to believe this fish story?

"Taliban stone Afghan couple to death; The punishment is 1st since invasion" by Amir Shah, Associated Press | August 17, 2010

KABUL, Afghanistan — Taliban militants in northern Afghanistan stoned a young couple to death for adultery, which a rights group said was the first confirmed use of the punishment here since the hard-line Islamist regime was ousted in 2001.

The Taliban-ordered killing occurred at a time when international groups have raised worries that attempts to negotiate with the Taliban to bring peace to Afghanistan could mean a step backward for human rights in the country.

When the Islamist extremists ruled Afghanistan, women were not allowed to leave their houses without a male guardian, and public killings for violations of their harsh interpretation of the Koran were common....

Yup, NEVER MIND that COALITION SHRAPNEL RIPPING APART their villages, relatives, and families if not themselves!

Amnesty International, the London-based rights group, called the stoning a “heinous crime’’ that showed the Taliban and other insurgent groups “are growing increasingly brutal in their abuses against Afghans.’’

I'm not approving of stoning; however, fuck AI!

I m SO SICK of JEWISH-FUNDED and DIRECTED "human rights" groups and their WESTERN-CENTRIC VIEW of things!!!!!

I suppose PIECES of METAL from U.S. BOMBS are a MUCH BETTER METHOD of PUNISHMENT, 'eh?

The ancient practice of death by stoning has been abandoned in all but a handful of countries.

But WE STILL EXECUTE HERE!

It is still a legal punishment in some countries, such as Iran, which justify it under Shariah, or Islamic law, although human rights activists say the Koran never specifically prescribed stoning for adultery.

Hey, they ALREADY BROUGHT PAKISTAN into the mix so WHY NOT IRAN!?!

Ready to go to WAR YET, America?

In Iran, the stoning sentence for Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, a 43-year-old mother of two convicted of adultery, has been lifted for now after it prompted an outcry from the United States and other governments as well as rights groups. Brazil, which has friendly relations with Iran, offered her asylum.

Iran’s president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, said in a TV interview broadcast yesterday that Iran will not send the woman to Brazil.

Ahmadinejad told state-run Press TV that he did not think there was a need to send her to Brazil and that he hoped the issue “will be solved,’’ without explaining....

Though Iran has lifted the stoning sentence, it is now accusing the woman of playing a role in her husband’s 2005 homicide. She could still be hanged.
