"Man who fled police in Carver is arrested in Pembroke" by Kiera Blessing | Globe correspondent September 14, 2014
A man wanted in Carver since he fled from police there last month was arrested in Pembroke Tuesday, police said.
On Aug. 27, officers stopped Joshua Sheets, 30, of Carver when he was seen leaving the Country Junction business plaza on South Main Street in a car, Carver police said. The plaza has been the subject of reported drug activity, and police recognized the car as one operated by Sheets, who has a suspended license.
When Sergeant Joseph Ritz and Officer Larry Page stopped the car, Sheets allegedly claimed to be his brother. When he realized the officers knew who he was, he allegedly fled, striking them both with his car. Ritz and Page pursued Sheets, but he escaped on foot in Plymouth.
On Tuesday, Ritz and Pembroke Detective Jake Burns found Sheets at a home in Pembroke, which was then surrounded by police. Through negotiations, Sheets was arrested without incident.
He was arraigned Wednesday in Wareham District Court on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, possession of cocaine, resisting arrest, and motor vehicle charges. Sheets posted $3,500 cash bail, and was then taken to Plymouth, where he faces additional charges. He will probably be arraigned there Thursday.
