The Power of the Church

I will say my prayers over the food later, even if in silence.

But that is not what this is about. This is a divisive and deceptive insult when we all know Washington is
Zionist-occupied territory.

"Catholic Church pushes, and some push back; After abortion victory in the House, bishops make their case as Senate gets ready to vote" by Susan Milligan, Globe Staff | November 21, 2009

WASHINGTON - Representative Louise Slaughter is upset with what she considers the church’s heavy-handed promotion of the amendment on Capitol Hill and its insistence that final legislative language in the landmark bill to expand insurance coverage meet with the approval of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops....

Representative Lynn Woolsey, a California Democrat: “I think they overstepped their influence.’’

What would she know about influence
?

"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been trying to pressure some of those Democrats to switch their votes.... California Democratic Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey says the White House has also threatened to pull support from freshman anti-war Democrats who vote no on the bill.... In the crosshairs of the big guns at the White House and on Capitol Hill are anti-war freshmen legislators and the movement to hold those responsible for torture accountable.

In funding the wars, the White House has been able to rely on strong GOP support to marginalize the anti-war Democrats who have pledged to vote against continued funding (as 51 Democrats did in May when the supplemental was first voted on). But the White House is running into trouble now because of Republican opposition to some of the provisions added to the bill (and one removed), meaning the pro-war Democrats actually need a fair number of anti-war Democrats to switch sides. In short, the current battle will clearly reveal exactly how many Democrats actually oppose these wars. And, according to reports, the White House and Democratic Leadership have the gloves off in the fight:

Rep. Lynn Woolsey of California, a leader of the antiwar Democrats, said the White House is threatening to withdraw support from freshmen who oppose the bill, saying “you’ll never hear from us again.” She said the House leadership also is targeting the freshmen. “It’s really hard for the freshmen,” she said. “Nancy’s pretty powerful.”

Oh, I guess a lot.

*******************

The church has long had a unique power on Capitol Hill, eliciting a deference from Catholics and non-Catholics alike that is not afforded to other religion-focused lobbies or to ideological groups like the American Civil Liberties Union or the National Rifle Association.

And AIPAC? Where do THEY STAND in all this, BG?!!!

Lobbyists who show up in “fancy suits’’ and wingtip shoes simply do not command the same reaction as lobbyists in clerical collars, Woolsey said.

What BULL-o-NAY!
Church is AGAINST the WARS, so WTF?!!!!

Further, the bishops - like officials in all religions who lobby the Hill - are not required to file the lobbying disclosures other interest groups must complete, noted Barry Lynn, executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State.

Neither does AIPAC, and yet the tool used to destroy America mentions nothing of that.

I'm always amazed at how these guys misread the First Amendment.

The First Amendment does NOT MEAN NO RELIGION in the PUBLIC REALM!

It means NO STATE-SANCTIONED RELIGION and that IN FACT the state should PROTECT RELIGIOUS FREEDOM!!

Somehow that has been perverted to mean no religion (except no one raises a beef about certain you-know-who schools)
.

“There’s just something that doesn’t smell right about this wealthy, powerful entity being able to write the laws that everyone, Catholic and non-Catholic, has to live under,’’ Lynn said.

Oh, I'M IN AGREEMENT there!!! Meanwhile, lawmakers are treading all over the Jewish holy days making sure there is never a conflict! WTF?!

Lawmakers say they try to seek a balance between their personal faith and obligation to their constituents....

The two need not conflict (unless it involves, you know....)
