UK Defies EU on DNA

"a violation of human rights"

"UK to discard DNA profiles after 6 years" by Associated Press | November 12, 2009

LONDON - Britain said yesterday that it plans to get rid of DNA profiles of most innocent people after six years in response to a European Court ruling that said keeping the information indefinitely was a violation of human rights.

The DNA of terror suspects could still be held indefinitely, even if they are not charged with terrorist offenses. Britain has one of the largest DNA databases in the world....

Police currently have the power to take DNA or fingerprints from anyone at the point of arrest and keep the information indefinitely....

That case originated when British police refused to destroy DNA samples of two Britons whose criminal cases were dropped. More than 1 million DNA samples have come from people who were never charged with a crime or were acquitted. Many of the samples were from juveniles....

Suitable for FRAMING if NEED BE!!!

I mean, they are JUST SITTING THERE!!!!
