South Korean Sailors Lost at Sea

Gee, the MSM sure kept those war games quite, 'eh?

And ask yourself who gains by a war in Korea, at this time?

"S. Korea naval ship sinks near North border; Pyongyang not blamed for blast" by Blaine Harden and June Lee, Washington Post | March 27, 2010

Gee, right after the war games, huh?

TOKYO — A South Korean naval ship sank early today after an explosion tore a hole in its bottom near a disputed sea border with North Korea.

The cause of the explosion was not clear, and the government in Seoul did not blame North Korea for the blast, which occurred in an area of the Yellow Sea where three North-South naval skirmishes have occurred in the past decade.

Something already stinking.

Another self-justifying false flag?

A spokeswoman for President Lee Myung Bak said the government is withholding judgment about the cause of the explosion, pending further investigation.

I'll be very interested to see what is the explanation.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff said there was no evidence to conclude that North Korea was involved in the explosion....

That won't stop the authorities and MSM from trying to implicate them (keep reading).

Six naval ships, two Coast Guard vessels, and rescue helicopters hurried to the area. Several crew members were feared dead, the Yonhap news agency reported. The government said that 58 sailors had been pulled to safety, but 40 were missing. Lee convened an emergency meeting of security officials and the military activated an emergency task force.

A South Korean ship fired shots toward an unidentified target in the direction of North Korea, according to Yonhap.

WTF?

TRYING to START a WAR, huh?

Military officials did not confirm the shooting, but said the military was strengthening its vigilance in the area, according to news agency reports.

North Korea did not immediately comment on the explosion. But earlier yesterday, its military threatened possible strikes, including a nuclear attack, over reports that the United States and South Korea were making contingency plans for possible instability in the North.

Yeah, WHO IS BENEFITING from this?

State-controlled media in Pyongyang frequently make such threats, and they are rarely regarded as serious. North Korea has complained for decades about the North-South border in the Yellow Sea. Known as the Northern Limit Line, it was drawn by the US military at the end of the Korean War in 1953. There have been three previous skirmishes in the region, the most recent of which occurred in November....

Yeah, the North must have done it.

"Search underway for 46 marines

BAENGNYEONG ISLAND — Military divers plunged into the waters near South Korea’s tense maritime border with North Korea yesterday, searching in vain for 46 missing marines from a naval ship that exploded and sank, officials said. The cause of the explosion was unclear, but North Korea did not appear to be to blame, officials said. Families voiced their anger as hopes faded for the missing crew after the ship sank in one of South Korea’s worst naval disasters (AP)."

That is what bothers me

"S. Korea families visit site of sunken ship" by Associated Press | March 29, 2010

BAENGNYEONG ISLAND, South Korea — The South Korean Navy stepped up its efforts to find 46 missing crew members of a naval ship that sank near the nation’s border with North Korea, but hopes were dimming because no survivors have been found in two days.

A US military ship will join rescue operations today, according to South Korea’s Defense Ministry.

Weeping, angry relatives of the crew members missing after a mysterious explosion sank the ship sailed around the site yesterday, while others criticized the government for lack of results as rescue operations continued. No survivors or bodies have been found since a rescue of 58 sailors from the 1,200-ton Cheonan, which sank early Saturday. Still, President Lee Myung Bak refused to give up hope.

Now this is REALLY STARTING to STINK!

The ship had been on a routine patrol with other vessels in the Yellow Sea off South Korea’s western coast. The exact cause of the explosion — one of South Korea’s worst naval disasters — remained unclear and officials said it could take weeks to determine.

They have found nothing?

Fierce waves and high winds have hampered the search in an area where the two Koreas have fought three bloody naval engagements since 1999.

Yeah, there is ALWAYS an EXCUSE, isn't there?

Despite the location of the sinking, North Korea did not appear to be involved. The countries remain in a state of war because their three-year conflict ended in a truce, not a peace treaty, in 1953.

That's odd; the photo in my printed paper was of women crying with the caption:

"Family members of missing sailors wept as they waited for word on loved ones."

What is with the Korean censorship, 'eh, Glob?

And they BLAME the NORTH anyway?!!

"South Korea’s defense chief says warship could have hit mine; North role hasn’t been ruled out" by Jean H. Lee, Associated Press | March 30, 2010

SEOUL — A naval mine dispatched from North Korea may have struck the South Korean warship that exploded and sank near the disputed sea border, the South’s defense minister told lawmakers yesterday, laying out several scenarios for the maritime disaster.

Yeah, a South Korean shoveling bullshit, great.

Defense Minister Kim Tae-young said there was no sign of a direct attack, but military authorities have not ruled out North Korean involvement in the sinking of the Cheonan late Friday night. An explosion ripped the 1,200-ton ship apart during a routine patrol mission near Baengnyeong Island west of the peninsula. Fifty-eight crew members, including the captain, were rescued; 46 remain missing.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff said the exact cause would remain unclear until the ship is salvaged after the rescue operation is over. Yesterday, mothers beat their chests with grief as divers went down to search for survivors, returning to report hearing no sounds inside the underwater wreckage.

Oh, they finally found the wreckage, huh?

Kim, grilled by lawmakers on what happened Friday night, said the ship may have struck a mine left over from the war or deliberately dispatched from the North.

Yup, ANYTHING to get a WAR going ANYWHERE, huh?

The two Koreas remain in a state of war because their three-year conflict ended in a truce, not a peace treaty, in 1953. North Korea disputes the sea border drawn by the United Nations in 1953, and the western waters near the spot where the Cheonan went down have been the site of three bloody skirmishes between the North and South.

So the North MUST have done it, huh?

Many of the 3,000 Soviet-made naval mines North Korea planted in the waters off both coasts during the war were removed, but not all. Kim noted a North Korean mine was discovered as recently as 1984.

That is 25 F***ING YEARS AGO! Not very recent!

Wouldn't SOMETHING HAVE HAPPENED in between?

North Korea may also have sent a mine floating south with the current, he said.

“North Korea may have intentionally floated underwater mines to inflict damage on us,’’ Kim told lawmakers.

Why?

How would they benefit by giving the U.S. a reason to attack?

He insisted there were no South Korean mines off the west coast and ruled out a torpedo attack by the North, which would have been spotted by radar.

Oh, INSISTED, did he?

Officials have also said an internal malfunction may be to blame.

I'm sure the North is responsible for that, too!!!

And even though they know where the wreck is the search has stopped?

Oh, STINK, readers!!!

"Search for missing sailors called off

SEOUL — South Korea’s military ended its underwater search for 46 sailors missing from a navy ship that sank after a mysterious blast eight days ago, an official said yesterday. Families of the sailors asked the military to suspend the operation for fear of additional casualties among divers after one died and as chances of finding survivors grew increasingly unlikely.

I do not believe that for a second!

I would WANT THE BODY no matter what, and I assume the Korean people would feel the same.

Consider the SOURCE making the claim, readers!

The decision came hours after divers discovered the body of a senior chief petty officer (AP)."

Then wouldn't you want them to keep looking for your loved one?
