"Campaign shifts staff from Michigan effort" by Brian C. Mooney and Sasha Issenberg, Globe Staff | October 3, 2008

John McCain's campaign is abandoning hopes of moving Michigan into the Republican column in November, but campaign officials insisted yesterday that McCain has a clearer path to 270 electoral votes than Democrat Barack Obama, who has surged ahead of McCain in national polls and surveys in most battleground states.

The economic crisis, which hit Michigan earlier than other states, is proving to be unfriendly terrain for McCain.

So either expect a "terror attack" or the death of the dead guy!

Greg Strimple, a senior adviser to the McCain campaign, likened the McCain pullout from Michigan to the Obama campaign's decision recently to scale back its efforts in Georgia and North Dakota, a pair of traditionally Republican states that the Democrat hoped to take away. He said polling also shows Obama trailing McCain by a significant margin in Montana, another historically Republican state where he expects the Democrat to pull out soon.

Strimple also outlined the McCain theory of victory, which presumes that the Republican will retain Florida, Missouri, North Carolina, Virginia, Indiana, and Ohio, giving him a total of 260 electoral votes, and reach the magic number of 270 by bagging at least 10 electoral votes with some combination of victories in Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, New Hampshire, Minnesota, Wisconsin, or Pennsylvania.

So THERE are the STATES where the FIX is IN, huh?

McCain is roughly tied with Obama in each of the states McCain is counting on and generally trails Obama in all those states he hopes to wrest away, recent polls show.

Translation: McCain has to pull an INSIDE STRAIGHT!!!!!

Obama has pulled about even with McCain in Indiana and North Carolina, which normally are Republican locks. Obama, who has smashed fund-raising records, enjoys a financial advantage in the closing weeks of the campaign. --more--"

Just ONE MORE REASON Obama wins in a FAIR ELECTION!!!!!
