Her predecessors almost always balanced a visit to New Delhi with a stop in Islamabad, but the Obama administration wants to demonstrate the relationship with India stands on its own and is no longer tied to Pakistan. Even so, Indian reporters peppered Clinton with questions about Pakistan.
Even flying first to Mumbai, the financial center of India, rather than the capital New Delhi, sent a message. Clinton is spending two nights at the Taj Mahal Palace & Towers hotel, the architectural landmark of Moorish, Oriental, and Florentine accents that was one of the targets of the devastating terrorist attack, in what she told an Indian television network was intended as “a rebuke to the terrorists.’’

NEW DELHI - US officials firmly believe that Al Qaeda leaders who planned and carried out the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, are hiding in Pakistan near its border with Afghanistan, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said yesterday.
Actually, they are in Tel Aviv, Washington, and London!
At a news conference concluding three days of meetings, Clinton said Washington has told the Pakistani government what it believes about the location of Al Qaeda leaders on its soil.
“With respect to the location of those who were part of the planning and execution of the attack of 9/11 against our country, we firmly believe that a significant number of them are in the border area of Pakistan,’’ she said when asked about the US view. “We are actively looking for additional information that would lead us to them,’’ she added.

The Pakistani government denies that Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and his senior lieutenants are hiding in its territory. Bin Laden is believed to have fled into Pakistan from Afghanistan weeks after the US military invaded Afghanistan in October 2001 in retaliation for the 9/11 attacks.

MUMBAI, India - The lone surviving gunman in the Mumbai attacks pleaded guilty yesterday and gave a detailed account of the plot and his role in the rampage that left 166 people dead and paralyzed the city for three days.
The confession was a big boost to India’s assertions that terrorist groups in Pakistan were behind the attack....

Asked by Judge M.L. Tahiliyani why he confessed now after consistently denying his role, Kasab said it was because the Pakistani government recently acknowledged he was a Pakistani citizen, dealing a blow to his defense.
“If Pakistan has accepted me as its citizen, then end this case and punish me for my crime,’’ he said. “My request is that we end the trial and I be sentenced.’’
I think he was TORTURED!!!
Kasab’s dramatic statement took those at the hearing by surprise. “Everybody in the court was shocked the moment he said he accepts his crime. It was unexpected,’’ public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said. “Everyone is surprised. I am also surprised,’’ said defense lawyer Abbas Kazmi.

Yesterday’s development came days after Pakistan gave a dossier to India with details of its investigation into the terrorist groups that New Delhi said were responsible. Late last month, the special court also issued arrest warrants for 22 Pakistani nationals accused of masterminding the attacks....

MUMBAI - An Indian court that heard a stunning confession from the lone surviving gunman in the Mumbai terror attacks put a gag order on his latest testimony - a message to his handlers in Pakistan and a description of the indoctrination he received before coming to India.
So the COVER UP has begun, 'eh? This "lone gunman" will be dead soon.
Let's face it, if he IMPLICATED Pakistan the press wouldn't hold back.
The order resulted in a rare information blackout in what has been one of the best documented terror attacks in history, with video footage, cellphone intercepts, photographs, and witness accounts playing across the media for months.
The judge yesterday deferred a decision on whether to accept Ajmal Kasab’s unexpected confession, which has complicated the already onerous task of defending a man whose image - he was photographed toting a gun and striding through Mumbai’s main train station - quickly became an emblem of the attack....

In court Monday and yesterday, Kasab took responsibility for much of the carnage during the three-day siege last November, confirming prosecution evidence, including video footage, guns, bombs, identity cards, witness testimony, and maps.

Kasab described receiving political and religious indoctrination from handlers in Pakistan, but Judge M.L. Tahiliyani issued an order forbidding journalists from reporting his comments, saying it was not in the interest of communal harmony.
That surely can't be it! Everyone already knows the cover story!
Religious friction is not uncommon here, and government officials as well as citizen groups worked hard to ensure that tensions between Hindus and Muslims did not erupt into violence after the November attack. The judge also banned reporting of Kasab’s message to his handlers.
And WHO would BENEFIT there, huh?

Rahman said the operation was aimed at clearing pockets of resistance in Maidan, and those killed included militants who fled the Swat area during the army’s offensive.
The violence shows security remains fragile in the northwest, even as thousands of refugees head back to Swat as part of a government repatriation program for the roughly 2 million people uprooted by the military campaign that started in late April.
