"Obama says anti-terror 'buck' stops with him" by Ben Feller, Associated Press Writer | January 7, 2010

WASHINGTON --President Barack Obama declared Thursday "the buck stops with me" for the nation's security, taking responsibility for failures that led to the near-disastrous Christmas attack on a Detroit-bound airliner and vowing the problems would be corrected. He said the lapses were widespread but suggested no officials would be fired.

Pffft

That's CHANGE from the last guy?

Obama didn't tell intelligence officials to dramatically change what they're doing. Instead, he told them to do it better, and faster. He left it to them to figure out how....

Then I realize THIS is a REWRITTEN and REEDITED PIECE from what I am LOOKING AT on my DESK!

WTF, MSM? Why the GAMES?!!!

U.S. intelligence officials had enough information.... but still could not identify and disrupt the plot, and security measures didn't catch him, either. While Obama promised improved security, his solutions were laced with bureaucratic reshuffling. Americans might be surprised that the government was not already taking some of the steps Obama ordered....

No, nothing would surprise me now.

Obama himself hinted at the difficulties of improving intelligence and security against a terrorist network that devises new methods as fast or faster than the U.S. can come up with defenses.

?????

See who thinks up terror attacks, Obomber?

"There is, of course, no foolproof solution," he said. "We have to stay one step ahead of a nimble adversary."

Related(?): Third person crashed White House dinner

What, you getting signals again, Obomber?

The White House is anxious to resolve and move beyond the issue, which threatens to damage the president politically and distract further from his agenda. Republicans have pointed to the attack and Obama's handling of it to criticize him as weak on national security -- a perennial election-season charge against Democrats that has sometimes been effective.

Clearly aware of the potential political fallout, Obama struck a tough tone toward the anti-terror fight, taking the rare step -- for him -- of calling it a "war." "We are at war, we are at war against al-Qaida," he said. "We will do whatever it takes to defeat them."

Gee, he sounds JUST LIKE Dick Cheney!

The unclassified summary stated that U.S. intelligence officials had received unspecified "discrete pieces of intelligence" to identify Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, a 23-year-old Nigerian, as an al-Qaida operative and keep him off the flight from Amsterdam. Officials received fragments of information as early as October, according to the report.

One wonders how he made it through security.

Although intelligence officials knew that an al-Qaida operative in Yemen posed a threat to U.S. security, they did not increase their focus on that threat and did not pull together fragments of data needed to foil the scheme, said the summary.

Because they were NOT MEANT TO!!!

See: Detroit Bomber Works For CIA

Still, the report concludes, "The watch listing system is not broken" and a reorganization of the nation's counterterrorism system is not necessary. The report, instead, calls for strengthening the process....

Yup, the PROCESS FAILED MISERABLY so LET'S "strengthen" it.

According to the report, "a series of human errors" occurred, including a delay in the dissemination of a completed intelligence report and the failure of CIA and counterterrorism officers to search all available databases for information that could have been tied to Abdulmutallab. The president seemed to settle the question of whom to blame by declaring that blame was shared by many."It appears that this incident was not the fault of a single individual or organization, but rather a systemic failure across organizations and agencies," he said....

But it worked, and we are going to "strengthen" it.

That is where the printed paper chopped it; what did they not want us to know?

Underscoring Obama's assertion that no one individual was responsible for failing to thwart the attack, the administration's report noted that Abdulmutallab's name was misspelled in one instance, leading the State Department to conclude he did not have a valid U.S. visa -- when in fact he did....

That's the BEST they can do? A MISSPELLING? Pfffft!

Meanwhile on Thursday, many airlines were re-briefing employees on security procedures, from baggage handlers to pilots. "Everybody is being reminded of what the rules of the road are," said Jack Casey, an aviation safety consultant in Washington.

Actually, the skies, but....

There's a limit, though, to how much airlines can do on their own, said Casey, a former airline pilot. "They're waiting for better guidance from everybody in government over this whole issue of profiling and the issue of privacy. That's a big gray area."

Well, IF YOU GUYS are going to PLAY ALONG with this game then I HOPE YOUR BUSINESS DIES!!!

I will NEVER GO NEAR an AIRPORT the rest of my life!!

Obama orders antiterrorism security improvements; Calls for review of visa policies, new equipment" by Jeff Zeleny and Helene Cooper, New York Times | January 8, 2010

WASHINGTON - President Obama yesterday ordered intelligence agencies to take a series of steps to streamline how terrorism threats are pursued and analyzed, saying the government had to respond aggressively to the failures that allowed a Nigerian man to ignite an explosive mixture on a commercial jetliner on Christmas Day.

The president directed the Homeland Security Department to acquire $1 billion in advanced-technology equipment for the screening of passengers, including body scanners at American airports and international cities on flights headed to the United States.

And CUI BONO, Chertoff?

Related: Who Thinks Up Terror Attacks?

Oh, they do, huh?

He said intelligence reports involving threats would be distributed more widely among agencies. He instructed the State Department to review its visa policy to make it more difficult for people with connections to terrorism to receive visas, while making it simpler to revoke visas to the United States when questions arise. “We are at war,’’ Obama said, releasing an unclassified version of a report on the attempted attack. He pledged not to “succumb to a siege mentality’’ sacrificing America’s civil liberties for security, but he called for expanding the criteria for adding people to terrorism watch lists.

Sorry, there are NO BUTS ABOUT IT, sir!!!!

People DIED for THOSE RIGHTS you so casually BUT!!!!

The report concluded that the government’s counterterrorism operations had been caught off guard by the sophistication and strength of an Al Qaeda cell in Yemen, where officials say the plot against the United States originated....

You mean Al Qaeda doesn't even exist?

The report sharply criticized the National Counter Terrorism Center and the CIA. The president ordered both agencies to accelerate the dissemination of information about potential plots and to develop ways of more quickly pursuing connective threads on potential terrorists. “In the never-ending race to protect our country, we have to stay one step ahead of a nimble adversary,’’ Obama said. “That’s what these steps are designed to do.’’

I've tuned him out quicker than Bush.

Mark M. Lowenthal, who was the CIA’s assistant director for analysis between 2002 and 2005, said of the new steps: “You can’t ask analysts to think faster. And the president’s solution to have analysts share more information sooner is only going to exacerbate the problem that got us into this flap in the first place.’’

So WHEN is the MUCH-NEEDED FALSE FLAG to SPARK a NEW ROUND of AGENDA-PUSHING, 'eh, CIA man?

The internal report, conducted by John O. Brennan, the president’s chief counterterrorism adviser, blamed a host of errors for the intelligence lapse, including a misspelling of Abdulmutallab’s name. But the systemic breakdown went much further.

The cable from the State Department outlining Abdulmutallab’s father’s warnings about his son was available to terrorism center officials who maintained the no-fly list, the report said.

Yeah, about the
dad.

Sort of a
forgotten man, 'eh?

But the cable alone did not meet the “minimum derogatory standard’’ for Abdulmutallab to get on the list....

"US wants more marshals on flights, better technology" by Katie Johnston Chase and D.C. Denison, Globe Staff | January 8, 2010

The Department of Homeland Security yesterday called for more measures to strengthen air travel security following the attempted bombing of a Detroit-bound flight from Amsterdam on Christmas Day.

Related: Detroit and Domestic Tyranny

At a news conference late yesterday afternoon, Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano outlined a plan that includes developing more effective screening technology, accelerating the deployment of 300 advanced imaging scanners at airports, and increasing the number of federal air marshals on flights. She also recommended reevaluating the criteria for putting people on the terrorist watch list and said she would be working with leaders around the globe to coordinate international security efforts.

You can just SMELL the GLOBAL CONTROL GRID going up, can't you?

Napolitano, whose remarks followed a speech by President Obama, said the additional security measures are needed to fix the “systemic failure’’ that occurred Dec. 25.

And CUI BONO, 'eh?

Btw, WHERE have the "terrorists" been the LAST EIGHT YEARS?

The GREAT THREAT(?) was not able to slip in ONE COMPETENT PLOT and BOMBER against this BROKEN SYSTEM?

You are SEEING my POINT, aren't you, readers?

Yes, as it TURNS OUT all "terrorism" is GOVERNMENT-CREATED, -FUNDED, -CONTROLLED, and -DIRECTED!!!!

Some passengers interviewed at Logan International Airport late yesterday afternoon were not overly concerned with the new security recommendations. Many televisions were tuned to sports highlights on ESPN....

Logan put a number of security precautions in place after the terrorists attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, which involved two planes that took off from the airport. Every morning at 8:30, a meeting is held with representatives from the Massachusetts Port Authority, which runs Logan; the Transportation Security Administration; the Federal Bureau of Investigation; Massachusetts State Police; US Customs and Border Protection; and the airlines - the only meeting of its kind in the country, said Logan security consultant Rafi Ron.

A behavior pattern-recognition program to train State Police to identify suspicious behavior was also developed at Logan; airport employees, including ticket counter agents, shop workers, and Massport employees, are also trained to be on the lookout for people who might pose a threat.

And be sure to do the sig heil salute!!

On top of that, all vehicles on airport property are subject to random searches, and the trunk of every car that parks in Terminal B - the garage closest to the terminal - is automatically searched.

In LIBERAL Massachusetts?

The next step, Ron said, is getting the TSA to conduct interviews with every passenger who has been flagged by a watch list or by someone at the airport.

And YOU thought the lines were long now!!

“This is the missing link in our airport program,’’ said Ron, who until 2001 was the director of security at Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv, where every passenger is interviewed.

Then HOW COME THEY GOT THROUGH ISRAELI SECURITY FIRMS on 9-11 and in Amsterdam, huh?

Some analysts have expressed skepticism about new security technology, saying improving intelligence will be key. Others say adding air marshals will not do much good either because there is not a lot an air marshal can do if a terrorist sets off an explosive on a plane. “It’s more of a cover-your-behind’’ thing, said John Pike, director of the military security information website GlobalSecuruity.org. “That’s easier to do than figuring out why the intelligence community’s computers still don’t talk to each other.’’

Are YOU TIRED of the CHARADE of TRYANNY yet, America?

Adding air marshals also would cost the airlines money, said Michael Friedman, an equity analyst who follows airline stocks for Boston Company Asset Management.

WHO CARES?! We are TALKING the "threat" of "terrorists" here!

NO COST is TOO GREAT -- unless you want to START BLOWING the WHISTLE on all this s***!!

Air marshals typically sit in first-class seats, a valuable revenue stream for the ailing industry, which as of November had experienced 13 straight months of year-over-year passenger revenue declines. The delays associated with increased screening measures also are costly for airlines, Friedman said.

SO WHAT!?

We are talking OUR SAFETY, the GLOBAL THREAT of "Al-CIA-Duh," and a THREAT to CIVILIZATION as WE KNOW IT!!!

I say a STORM TROOPER on EVERY CORNER with carte blanche to FIRE AWAY at ANY PERCEIVED THREAT!!

THAT will KEEP YOU SAFE, America!!!!!

Friedman said, however, that the presence of more air marshals may make travelers feel more secure.

Right!! Who cares about all the EXCESSIVE FEES and CHARGES that YOU have to PAY to support it all, Amurkn?!

Now BEND OVER for your ANAL PROBE!!!!!

Overall, though, he does not expect the new recommendations to have a huge effect on air travel. “This will have far less of an impact than 9/11 or the liquid scare did,’’ he said.

Oh, I THINK he is WRONG THERE -- unless he is IN the KNOW, huh?

"Critics voice objections to Hanscom jets plan; Massport asserts deal nearly done" by Christina Pazzanese, Globe Correspondent | January 8, 2010

BEDFORD - The Massachusetts Port Authority is moving ahead with a hotly contested plan to demolish a historic airport hangar at Hanscom Field in order to expand its capacity to accommodate corporate jets....

Related: Look What Made the State Stimulus Wish List

Oh, is that what you wanted your stimuloot money going for, America?

The plan has drawn sharp criticism from members of the state’s congressional delegation, including Edward Markey, Niki Tsongas, and John Tierney, who called for last night’s meeting.

So what is their angle, because I don't trust them.

Some state legislators also oppose the plan, saying expanded jet service at Hanscom will increase noise and traffic. Critics contended last night that the increased jet activity will harm an area that is home to some national treasures....

Oh, the same elitist s*** -- not that they are incorrect in this case (see Barnes).

Residents and preservation groups from Bedford, Concord, Lexington, and Lincoln have long opposed the plan, accusing Massport of overstating the need for more hangar space, given the state of the economy, while understating the negative impact. Critics point to Massport’s own data that show the number of corporate jet flights at Hanscom has declined in the last decade.

Massport trying to pull a fast one? Yer kidding!!!!

State Representative Cory Atkins, Democrat of Concord, said that when she talks with corporate leaders about the state’s assets, “never once . . . has the subject of having the ability of luxury airliners to land here been part of coming to Massachusetts.’’

BRUSSELS - European nations were sharply divided yesterday over the need to install full-body scanners at European airports, with some EU members playing down the need for beefed-up security measures.

Yeah, some of them have good sniffers!

But the EU indicated it may force nations to comply.

Aren't you GLAD YOU JOINED, Europeans?!!!

After meeting in Brussels yesterday, EU aviation security specialists released a statement saying the EU Commission may issue a binding regulation on imaging technology to reinforce passenger security, while at the same time addressing the conditions for using such technology, such as privacy, data protection, and health issues.

Italy yesterday joined the United States, Britain, and the Netherlands as nations that have disclosed plans to install the scanners following a Nigerian man’s reported attempt to blow up a US airliner flying from Amsterdam to Detroit on Christmas Day....

"Slovak airport security test assailed; Irish enraged after explosives end up on flight" by Veronika Oleksyn and Karel Janicek, Associated Press | January 7, 2010

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia - A failed airport security test ended up with a Slovak man unwittingly carrying hidden explosives in his luggage on a flight to Dublin, Slovak officials admitted yesterday - a mistake that enraged Irish authorities and shocked aviation specialists worldwide.

Yeah, and NOT JUST THEM!!

WTF?!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While the Slovaks attributed the incident to “a silly and unprofessional mistake,’’ Irish officials and security specialists said it was foolish for the Slovaks to hide actual bomb parts in the luggage of innocent passengers under any circumstances.

I'm sorry, there is NOTHING SILLY or FOOLISH about "terrorism!"

The passenger himself was detained by Irish police for several hours before being let go without charge Tuesday.

Any MONEY or APOLOGY coming his way?

The Irish were also angry it took the Slovaks three days to tell them about the Saturday mistake and that the pilot of the airplane decided to fly to Dublin anyway even after being told that an explosive was in his aircraft’s checked luggage.

Yeah, "terrorism" is real!

After being informed by the Slovaks, Irish authorities shut down a major Dublin intersection Tuesday and evacuated people from several apartment buildings as Irish Army specialists examined the explosive....

Oh, ALL THIS HASSLE over this STINKING S***!!!!!!!!!!

The incident was bound to heighten flying jitters after the Christmas near-disaster....

GOOD!!

I advise EVERYONE in the WORLD to NEVER FLY AGAIN!!

It is NOT SAFE!!!!!

Security specialists said the Dublin episode illustrated the inadequacy of the screening of checked-in luggage - the very point Slovak authorities had sought to test when they placed bomb components in passengers’ bags. Yet Clark Kent Ervin, the former inspector general of the US Homeland Security Department, called the Slovak test “crazy.’’

“It should be a controlled exercise,’’ Ervin said....

Yeah, because THEN you can GO LIVE and have the agenda-pushing, Zionist AmeriKan MSM transmit the war-promoting cover story!

“It’s unbelievable, it’s astonishing,’’ said Rick Nelson, a former Bush administration official who worked at the National Counterterrorism Center. “I’m not sure what they were thinking using an unknowing civilian rather than an undercover security official,’’ he added.

I do!!!!

BOOM!!!

Their comments were echoed by specialists in several nations. Aviation analyst Chris Yates said someone should be fired, not only for the mistake, but also for how the entire operation was designed.

Not only here for this Xmas day blasphemy, but WE NEED WAR CRIMES CHARGES for 9/11, folks!!!

“Anything could happen,’’ he said. “That bag could go through a different carousel in the airport, you could lose it and you get the situation where you have RDX plastic explosive loaded into the cargo hold of an airplane, flown to another destination, and then you have to find’’ it.

That would just SERVE the AGENDA some more, right?

There is LOOSE BOMB MATERIAL on AIRPLANES!!!!

"The reason they came up with an underwear bomber is the same reason they came up with a shoe bomber. First they wanted to get into your shoes and then they wanted to get into your underwear. After that they want to get into your body. But job one, day one, they want to get into your head.... The passenger unwittingly took the explosives on the flight. Irish police called in a bomb disposal team and evacuated houses in the north of Dublin on Tuesday after the explosive was discovered. Interior Minister Robert Kalinak said the material didn’t have a detonator and was harmless.

"Yemen says Nigerian may have met radical cleric" by Lee Keath, Associated Press Writer | January 7, 2010

SAN'A, Yemen --Yemen on Thursday provided the most comprehensive account yet of contacts between al-Qaida and the Nigerian accused of trying to blow up a U.S. airliner, saying he may have met with a radical U.S.-born cleric who previously had contact with the alleged Fort Hood shooter.

In the weeks before the attempted airliner attack, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab met with al-Qaida operatives in a remote mountainous region that was later hit in an airstrike that targeted a gathering of the group's top leaders, Yemen's deputy prime minister said.

The account by Rashad al-Alimi, who oversees security issues in the government, filled in some of the blanks in Abdulmutallab's movements before his failed attempt to detonate explosives on a Christmas Day flight to Detroit. But al-Alimi also raised new questions. He contended that Abdulmutallab was recruited by al-Qaida in Britain and that the 23-year-old received the explosives in Nigeria. U.S. officials say Abdulmutallab told FBI investigators that al-Qaida operatives in Yemen gave him the material and trained him in how to use it....

"We are told by ABCNNBBCBS that the bomber said this and the bomber said that (just like the Fort Hood shooter) but we never actually get to SEE him makes these obviously provocative statements, do we? Is that because seeing him on a waterboard screaming what his torturers want him to say might give away the scam?" -- Wake the Flock Up

And then we get CONTRADICTIONS!

*********************************

The 38-year-old cleric, born in New Mexico to Yemeni parents, is a popular figure among al-Qaida sympathizers, known for his English-language Internet sermons that preach jihad, or holy, against the West. A decade ago, while preaching at U.S. mosques, he associated with two of the 9/11 hijackers.

Yeah, about that cleric (color codes my emphasis):

"Airline Terror Mission Blessed by Radical Imam

The Nigerian accused of trying to blow up a Detroit-bound airliner had his suicide mission personally blessed in Yemen by Anwar al-Awlaki, the Muslim imam suspected of radicalizing the Fort Hood shooting suspect, a U.S. intelligence source has told The Washington Times.

"Actually, the US Government rescinded a warrant for this guy's arrest in 2002. He was imprisoned in Yemen but released 2 years ago. His fellow clerics openly accuse him of cooperating with the CIA." -- Wake the Flock Up

"Khattab (aka Joseph Cohen) Removes All Traces of Link to Ft. Hood Killer Hasan

But whether or not this particular "Slave of Allah" is Nidal Hasan is not important. Certainly the Revolution Muslim user "ooklepookle" is Hasan's friend Duane Reasoner. What is important is that Khattab has been busy removing webpages from his site connecting him to "ooklepookle". When we originally reported the relationship we had to use a Google cache page. All webpages showing "ooklepookle" at Revolution Muslim had already been removed. Google's archive -- a snapshot of what the webpage looked like at a single moment in time -- remained.

"So, given that Yousef al-Khattab is actually Joseph Cohen and one of the numerous fake Al Qaeda used to create a justification for war, then a link from Cohen to Nidal Hasan suggests that the Fort Hood incident was in reality a normal Mossad false-flag operation." -- Wake the Flock Up

Officials: U.S. Army Told of Hasan's Contacts with al Qaeda

U.S. intelligence agencies were aware months ago that Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan was attempting to make contact with an individual associated with al Qaeda, two American officials briefed on classified material in the case told ABC News.

".... one of the "Al Qaeda" operatives Hasan may have been in contact with was Yousef al-Khattab, aka Joseph Cohen. The Imam mentioned in this article, Anwar al Awlaki, is thought by many of his fellow clerics to be working with the CIA. When he was living in the US in 2002, a warrant for his arrest was inexplicably rescinded by the US Attorney in Denver, an indication that a deal may have been made then. Anwar al Awlaki was also claimed to have been a point of contact for two of the 9-11 accused." -- Wake the Flock Up

"Nigerian may have met with radical cleric; But Yemen says bomb suspect recruited in UK" by Steven Erlanger, New York Times | January 8, 2010

SANA, Yemen - A senior official here said yesterday that the young Nigerian man accused of trying to bring down an airliner as it was approaching Detroit on Dec. 25 had met with operatives of Al Qaeda and probably with Anwar al-Awlaki, a radical US-born Internet preacher, in Yemen before setting out on his journey....

The account differed on crucial points from those given by British, Ghanaian, and Nigerian officials.... Alimi denied emphatically that Abdulmutallab left Yemen with the explosives, saying the suspect obtained them in Nigeria, though he offered no specific evidence for his assertion....

Of course, it is OKAY when USrael's newspapers do it!

It was unclear how Abdulmutallab would have acquired the explosives in Nigeria. Nigerian officials have said that he spent less than 30 minutes at the airport and went through the requisite security checks.

Huh?

But the Lagos airport is also known for its corruption and chaos, and officials in Ghana dispute the Nigerian account, saying Abdulmutallab spent nearly four hours in Lagos before leaving....

All this chasing of their own tails presented as "news."

The broad timeline offered by the Yemeni official meshes with previously established outlines of Abdulmutallab’s travels....
