Pelsoi Says Stimuloot a Success

“We want to build upon what has been successful for us’’

Then someone better check her for Botox poisoning, give her a mental health evaluation, or impeach her for incompetency.

"reported saving jobs when using the money to give pay raises, pay for training and continuing education, extend employee work hours, or buy equipment"

And even if they did claim to add jobs:

"Some jobs credited to the stimulus program were counted two, three, four, or even more times. The government has overstated by thousands the number of jobs it has created or
saved"

"AP found job counts that were more than 10 times the actual number"

If she considers that success....

"Obama canvasses for ideas on job creation; Solicits plans that can yield quick results" by Tom Raum, Associated Press | December 4, 2009

WASHINGTON - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested that one way to create jobs is to use leftover money from the Wall Street bailout to pay for new spending on roads and bridges and save the jobs of firefighters, teachers, and other public employees.

Unbelievable!!

What do you mean LEFTOVER $$$?

Yup, MONEY JUST SITTING AROUND a YEAR while YOU SUFFERED, America!! And EITHER WAY, it is YOUR -- admittedly borrowed at interest -- MONEY!!!!!!!!

About $210 billion of the $700 billion Troubled Assets Relief Program money remains uncommitted or has been paid back; Bank of America Corp. announced Wednesday that it would repay its $45 billion in government bailout money. The administration has been wary of using TARP funds for other purposes, but after talks with Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and other officials, congressional Democrats are looking at as much as $70 billion....

I'm so outraged by all of this. You f***ers!

Pelosi did not give a price tag on a new jobs initiative that she said she hopes can pass this month.

Yeah, HOW COME YOU HAVE TO WAIT, America?

BANKS, WARS, and ISRAEL NEVER DO!!!!!!

She said, however, that it would come on top of a costly “safety net’’ initiative that would again extend unemployment payments for those whose benefits have run out and renew a program that offers the jobless a 65 percent subsidy for health insurance premiums under the COBRA program.....

Oh this is NOTHING but a SECOND STIMULOOT; however, NO ONE DARE CALL IT THAT knowing how UNPOPULAR are the LOOTINGS!

Related: Checking Obama's Hearing

Yeah, they let your subsidized insurance run out.

And you want them running health care?

Most of what Pelosi described were ideas included in February’s $787 billion economic recovery bill, though even the most ardent supporters of that measure wish it were doing more to boost jobs. “We want to build upon what has been successful for us,’’ she said....

And DemocraPs know only ONE WAY to GET MONEY!!!

WASHINGTON - Under the House bill, estates smaller than $3.5 million would continue to be exempt from the tax. Married couples, with a little estate planning, could exempt a total of $7 million. That leaves less than 1 percent of all estates subject to the tax....

So under this "party-of-the-people" DemocraP proposal, the RICH STILL would not have to worry about their mansions being taxed.

However, there WOULD BE a TAX IN PLACE!!

I used to favor taxing the hell out of the rich over what is called the "death tax," but NOT ANYMORE!

America ALREADY HAS TOO MANY TAXES and the LAST THING WE NEED is MORE!

Thus we will get a CARBON TAX, like it or not!!!

Majority Democrats said a permanent tax rate makes it easier for families and small-business owners to do estate planning....

Calling Mr. Orwell! Please get out of that grave!

So what does "success" look like around here?

"Many awarded US funds without full disclosure; Mass. seeks explanation on failure to report violations" by Maggie Mulvihill, Joe Bergantino, and Sydney Lupkin, New England Center For Investigative Reporting | December 3, 2009

New England construction companies that have received millions of dollars in federal stimulus contracts failed to disclose to Massachusetts officials, as the state requires, serious pollution or workplace safety penalties levied against them in recent years, a review by the New England Center for Investigative Reporting at Boston University has found....

Notably, the prior workplace and pollution violations do not disqualify the construction firms from winning stimulus-based contracts.... In 2007, Aggregate Industries Northeast Inc., pleaded guilty to conspiring to steal from taxpayers by providing inferior concrete to the Central Artery/Tunnel Project and agreed to pay $50 million dollars in civil and criminal penalties.

And we already over-payed (and are still paying) for that monstrosity!

"A system under strain; T records detail hazards awaiting repair, raising questions about priorities" by Noah Bierman, Globe Staff | December 6, 2009

Oh, they DIDN'T DO any of THESE HIGH-PRIORITY JOBS concerning SAFETY, huh? There goes the state LOOKING OUT FOR YOU again, Bay-Stater!

These are among the 51 unfunded Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority projects, categorized by the agency itself as dangers to “life and limb,’’ that were referred to in an alarming independent review last month but never publicly listed or explained.

Yeah, 'cause they are TOO BUSY PAYING OFF BIG-DIG DEBT to BANKS!

See:
UBS Picks Up Pike

Bankers' Bark Worse Than Bite to State

A Globe review of the specific projects, obtained through a public records request, reveals numerous potential hazards as a result of inadequate funding in a system where many cables, signals, and other pieces of equipment have been in service well beyond their recommended life span. But the agency, whose own staff previously ranked the projects as essential, now says some are not as urgent as once suggested.

And KEEP THOSE FINGERS CROSSED!!!

And following the release of the report, the agency said 10 of the projects would be funded from either the yearly operating budget or federal grants....

One wonders what would have happened had the report not been released.

The transit system, already heavily in debt, spends almost all of its $500 million capital budget every year on projects designed to maintain the system and the purchase of replacement train and bus fleets, yet still finds its $3 billion backlog of projects growing....

Well, when all the money is being looted out of the system for pension perks and other such graft... but, hey, THAT'S Massachushitts!!!!!

"Bridge off list of stimulus projects; Foxborough structure won’t be ready in time: by Noah Bierman, Globe Staff | December 5, 2009

The Patrick administration is taking a $9 million footbridge next to Gillette Stadium off its list of federally funded stimulus projects, but still supports finding other public money for the project, officials said yesterday.

While STATE SERVICES are being GUTTED!!!

Patriots' Kraft Passes Checks to Patrick

Small investment to get the state to pay for the billionaire's bridge, 'eh?

The bridge over Route 1 in Foxborough, along with two other previously approved municipal road projects in Worcester and Amherst, were pulled yesterday because state transportation officials worried they would not be “shovel ready’’ by the end of February, a federal requirement for stimulus projects.

Sure there wasn't something more to it?

The bridge had threatened to become a political issue for Governor Deval Patrick, who is up for election next year, because it connects two private parking lots owned by Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots. Critics questioned why the state was dedicating money to a private venture and worried it would have little public benefit on days there were no events at the stadium.

And what amount did you say the check needed to be?

Two planning organizations and a legislative oversight committee said the money would be better spent on competing projects, many of which had gone through a more formal vetting process. Patrick officials have touted the bridge as key to bringing a corporate headquarters to the area, because it would give workers at a potential corporate campus easy access to the Patriot Place mall across the street. The Kraft Group built the retail and restaurant complex, as well as the adjacent Gillette Stadium, without public money. The governor’s economic development team has said the state needs to be more proactive in building roads and other infrastructure designed to lure private investment....

Yeah, so LET'S GIVE a BILLIONAIRE $9 million bucks in these TIMES of SUFFERING!

"APNewsBreak: Feds put kibosh on Patriots bridge" by Glen Johnson, AP Political Writer | December 7, 2009

BOSTON --A federal official says the Obama administration told Massachusetts officials not to use $9 million in federal stimulus money to build a pedestrian footbridge outside the home of the New England Patriots. Last week, the state pulled stimulus funding for the project, saying it would not be ready for construction by a federal deadline at the end of February.

State Transportation Secretary Jeff Mullan on Monday said a regional Federal Highway Administration official raised concerns about using stimulus money for the project. The official cited news reports about team owner Robert Kraft and his wife recently making political donations to Gov. Deval Patrick and the Massachusetts Democratic Party.

A federal Transportation Department official who demanded anonymity to speak about internal discussions says the Obama administration feels there are "more important projects" to fund with the stimulus money.

--more--"

Yes, PLEASE KEEP THAT in MIND as you READ TODAY'S BG account!

Federal officials expressed concern to the Patrick administration about the appearance of using $9 million in federal stimulus money to build a footbridge connecting privately owned parking lots next to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, a Patrick official said yesterday.

“It’s fair to say that federal highway had concerns,’’ said Jeffrey B. Mullan, state transportation secretary, who said he was contacted by federal officials in the past two weeks. “They didn’t like the fact that it was on the list.’’

Mullan pulled the project, which would allow foot traffic over Route 1, from the list of stimulus projects on Friday, saying he was concerned it could not be built quickly enough to meet “shovel ready’’ requirements for using stimulus money. At the time, he made no mention of federal concern.

He said yesterday that the state has the ultimate say on what projects get funded by stimulus money and said the primary reason for pulling the project was its lack of readiness.

But Mullan acknowledged yesterday that the Federal Highway Administration’s local administrator, Lucy Garliauskas, was worried about the project’s appearance and told him that her office had been contacted by the inspector general’s office in Washington inquiring about it. Mullan said Garliauskas shared his concern about the project’s readiness.

“Our officials had concerns and felt like there were more important projects to be funded,’’ said Jill Zuckman, spokeswoman for the US Department of Transportation. She said that the officials did not direct the state to remove the project from its list, but that it was part of an ongoing conversation about all stimulus projects in the state.

The bridge would connect two private parking lots owned by Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots. As state officials pushed plans to build the bridge in October, Kraft and his wife contributed $12,000 to the political accounts of Patrick, Lieutenant Governor Timothy P. Murray, and the state Democratic Party. Patrick officials have said the donations did not affect their support for the project.

A spokesman for Kraft declined to comment on the matter last night.

Mullan and other Patrick officials said Friday that they remained committed to finding state money to complete the project. Mullan repeated that yesterday, saying he believed it would enhance public safety. He said he believed that those who questioned the project from Washington might have been working off press reports and had not been briefed on the project’s merits.

But the bridge has threatened to become a political problem for Patrick. Detractors question using public money for a bridge linking two private parking lots belonging to the owner of the Patriots. And they worry that it will have little public benefit outside of game day.

Patrick has said the bridge is an important tool to luring economic development. The Kraft Group has plans to build an office park or corporate headquarters on the property.

Patrick defended the footbridge project yesterday, saying it would boost private development and create jobs. “That bridge opens up 1.5 million square feet of commercial office development,’’ Patrick said. “It’s the largest single commercial development plot we have in the Commonwealth.’’

At the state’s request, the Krafts have spent $2 million on the environmental permitting process. The bridge would link potential tenants to the retail complex that abuts Gillette Stadium, part of Kraft’s $800 million private investment in the area.

The Kraft Group has said that it is committed to working with the state to bring more jobs.

But even state lawmakers have been divided on the wisdom of the footbridge. Representative David Linsky, House chairman of a legislative committee overseeing stimulus money, said he also told Patrick officials he felt the bridge was an inappropriate use of the federal program.

“The real intent of the federal stimulus program is to create jobs and to jumpstart the economy,’’ said Linsky, a Natick Democrat. “The project was intended to benefit an office park that was at best five years off in the future . . . so the job creation, at best, was highly speculative.’’

Quite an OMISSION, wouldn't you say?

I guess they will try to use it for this:

Which means NO JOBS THIS YEAR!!!!

The Revere announcement came days after Patrick was criticized for wanting to use $9 million in stimulus funds to build a footbridge over Route 1 in Foxborough that would have connected properties owned by Robert Kraft, chairman and CEO of the New England Patriots. Administration officials withdrew the funding last week saying they were not sure the footbridge would be ready for construction by the end of February, deadline for allocation of stimulus money.

Yesterday evening, a Patrick administration official said federal officials expressed concerns about the appearance of using federal stimulus money to build the bridge.

“It’s fair to say that federal highway had concerns,’’ said Jeffrey Mullan, state transportation secretary. “They didn’t like the fact that it was on the list.’’Critics had questioned the use of the money for a private project and worried it would provide little public benefit. But Patrick defended the funding for the footbridge earlier yesterday, saying it would have spurred private development that will create jobs.

“I don’t think that’s a misstep at all,’’ he said of the Foxborough project. “That bridge opens up 1.5 million square feet of commercial office development. It’s the largest single commercial development plot we have in the Commonwealth.’’

The LYING LEECHES of Massachusetts' state government in full flower!

At Waterfront Square, the state will use $22.7 million in federal stimulus money, and kick in another $11.3 million that the MBTA will borrow.

As if they DID NOT OWE ENOUGH ALREADY!

Yup, it ALWAYS COMES BACK to BANKS, folks!!!!

The balance of the cost will be funded with state and federal grants....

BORROWED, of course!

Back to where THAT $$$ will be coming from:

"US may use bailout funds to create jobs

WASHINGTON - Under heavy pressure to get Americans back to work, President Obama yesterday suggested using a suddenly available pot of money left over from the government’s bank bailout to help create more jobs....

Yup, just SITTING AROUND a WHOLE YEAR while UNEMPLOYMENT ZOOMED and the STIMULOOT ws STOLEN!

Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill are looking to tap as much as $70 billion in unused funds from the bailout, but they and Obama would have to get around a provision of the 2008 bailout legislation that requires money that is paid back by banks or left over to be used exclusively for reducing the federal deficit.

Remember, America, no matter what they are talking about, it is ALL YOUR MONEY!

Turning the highly unpopular Troubled Asset Relief Program into a jobs program has strong political appeal, although Republican critics have depicted such an approach as a back-door way of passing a second economic stimulus package.

They could have DONE THAT ANYTIME!

Why do you have to KEEP WAITING and WAITING, America!?

And on this one, the Repugs are right!

The administration now estimates that TARP will cost about $200 billion less than the $341 billion estimated in August, due to faster repayments by big banks and less spending as the financial sector recovered from its freefall more quickly than anticipated.

Yeah, too bad your PENSION DIDN'T!

“TARP has turned out to be much cheaper than we had expected.... ’’ Obama told reporters....

Yeah, you STILL LOST $141 BILLION on THIS ONE PROGRAM, but it's CHEAPER says the MISLEADER-in-CHIEF!
