South African Goldstones

Balls of 'em:

"Judge won’t attend family bar mitzvah

JOHANNESBURG — The internationally respected South African jurist who wrote a UN report on Israel-Palestinian clashes won’t be attending his grandson’s bar mitzvah, but did not confirm reports he was put off by possible protests by Jews angered by conclusions he drew about Israel.

What THUGS!!!

Richard Goldstone said that after discussions with a South African Jewish group that has sharply criticized his findings that Israel committed war crimes in Gaza in 2009, he decided not to attend the bar mitzvah (AP)."

Oh, so he was THREATENED!

Must have been over the Israeli gall stones.

So what else is my *ewspaper giving me besides a hidden brief?

"Tensions rise in South Africa over killing of white supremacist; Two are charged; standoff at court ends peacefully" by Michelle Faul, Asssociated Press | April 7, 2010

VENTERSDORP, South Africa — Police set up coils of razor wire to separate the two groups....

Community leader Bomber Matinyane said the display of racist flags was angering people. He said whites should stop waving them and blacks should stop singing the inciting song with lyrics that include “kill the farmer.’’

Singing a Song in South Africa

Can't we all get along?

Blacks outside the courthouse sang other songs dating from the struggle for majority rule that finally occurred in 1994 after years of state-sponsored violence by the white minority regime and urban guerrilla warfare waged by the African National Congress....

Analyst Steven Friedman, director of the Center for the Study of Democracy, said the fears were overblown, especially since Terreblanche led such a small, fringe group of extremists.

Then why are they getting so much press?

“It’s quite clear that there are a lot of tensions, problems, but this kind of notion that South Africa is a powder keg waiting to ignite is clearly untrue,’’ Friedman said.

Yeah, and that WAS the impression my newspaper was giving me!
