Taliban Has Spirit

The cheerleaders still have to wear the burqa.

"Taliban foray routs 16 Afghan police" by Associated Press / November 2, 2010

KABUL, Afghanistan — The Taliban briefly overran a district seat in eastern Afghanistan and torched government buildings there, officials said yesterday.

Government forces who regained control of Ghazni Province’s Khogyani district headquarters a few hours later discovered that the 16 Afghan policemen stationed there were missing....

They defected and joined the "insurgency."

The 16 policemen were not yet accounted for, said Mohammed Ismail Jahanger, a spokesman for the provincial governor. It was unclear whether they ran away, were captured, or voluntarily joined the Taliban, he said.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said all the police guarding the headquarters were either killed or taken prisoner and their weapons and vehicles were confiscated. He put out a press release later saying the Taliban had left the district after damaging the headquarters.

This type of stuff is starting to stink like everything in my paper.

In southern Helmand Province, NATO and Afghan troops killed 15 insurgents in a two-day battle....

Also in Helmand, two Afghan women were found shot to death in Naway-e-Barakzayi district, said provincial government spokesman Daud Ahmadi. They had been running a small organization helping other women set up businesses.

"Most Afghans would accept talks with Taliban, survey says; Support is down for insurgency after years of war" by Katharine Houreld, Associated Press / November 10, 2010

KABUL, Afghanistan —Meanwhile, Afghan security forces yesterday arrested a member of the deadly Haqqani network and three other associates after ordering the plane flying him to Saudi Arabia to return to the capital, NATO said.

Oh, ANOTHER CIA ASSET headed to Saudi Arabia, huh?

"Haqqani.... credited with introducing suicide bombing to the region.... cultivated as a "unilateral" asset of the CIA and received tens of thousands of dollars in cash for his work.... He may have had a role in expediting the escape of Osama Bin Laden.... In July 2008, CIA officials confronted Pakistan officials with evidence of ties between Inter-Services Intelligence and Haqqani. Haqqani has been accused of involvement in the 2008 Indian embassy bombing in Kabul.... The Haqqani Network is based in Pakistan and is believed to have links to Al Qaeda."

Must be going to meet up with a bin Laden!

Coalition forces also arrested a senior Taliban leader in charge of the Marjah district in Helmand Province, a statement said.

And yet somehow the Taliban team still keeps playing.

"Bombings, ambushes kill 10 across Afghanistan" by Rahim Faiez, Associated Press / November 11, 2010

KABUL, Afghanistan — A suicide car bomb exploded in the middle of a bazaar and killed two people, one of several attacks across Afghanistan that left 10 dead, including three NATO service members and five Afghan police officers, officials said yesterday....

"Afghanistan attack kills 1, wounds 2" by Associated Press / November 13, 2010

KABUL, Afghanistan — A suicide car bomber blew himself up as a NATO convoy passed his vehicle on the outskirts of the capital yesterday, killing one civilian and wounding two service members, officials said....

The Hizb-i-Islami group that operates under the leadership of warlord and former Afghan Prime Minister Gulbuddin Hekmatyar claimed responsibility for the attack....

Hekmatyar the CIA ASSET?

"Gulbuddin Hekmatyar the favored warlord of the ISI and CIA. Casey was said to be particularly fond of him as both shared a goal of extending the fighting beyond Afghanistan into the Soviet Union itself. He was a ruthless fighter, who also led several raids into USSR territory. He was also a major drug trafficker. Almost half of all the covert weapons directed at Afghanistan were sent to his group"

They just played him.

Although suicide bomb attacks are becoming commonplace in southern and eastern parts of Afghanistan, where NATO is fighting the Taliban, increased security has made them less frequent in the capital.

In eastern Afghanistan, a NATO service member was killed in an insurgent attack, the coalition said.

Neither the nationality of the service member nor any other details were released....

"Insurgents attack NATO base in eastern Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) – Insurgents wearing suicide vests Saturday stormed a major NATO base in eastern Afghanistan, with six of them dying in a hail of gunfire before they could penetrate the defenses. Ten people including three children died in a separate bombing in the north.

The attacks — in Jalalabad in the east and Kunduz province in the north — show the insurgents' fighting spirit has not been broken despite a surge of U.S. troops and firepower.

They also demonstrate the guerrillas are capable of striking outside their traditional southern strongholds of Kandahar and Helmand provinces that are the focus of the U.S. surge.

NATO also reported that insurgents killed three coalition service members Saturday in southern Afghanistan, but it did not provide further details or nationalities....

The violence underscored continued instability in the country....

We can never leave, America.

The Taliban have targeted several U.S. and NATO installations in recent years with attacks that often do little damage but serve as a reminder that the insurgents are able to strike at the core of the international mission and to enjoy relative freedom of movement across the country despite coalition offensives and an infusion of thousands additional international forces.

Yeah, they do LITTLE DAMAGE!

KILLING PEOPLE is "little damage" to the lying, Muslim-hating, war-promoting paper!

Afghan and coalition troops have killed and captured hundreds of insurgents in recent months as they target midlevel commanders in their effort break the back of the insurgency.

Then why ain't we winning?

They also have disrupted insurgent supply routes, especially in the south....

Anybody check our own lately? How much we paying Taliban for protection?

Several gunmen attacked an Afghan army checkpoint outside the heavily fortified coalition base at dawn, sparking a gunbattle that lasted at least two hours as NATO helicopters fired from above....

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said there were 14 attackers and 11 of them were killed, though the insurgent group typically gives inflated numbers.

Isn't that the paper pot hollering kettle?

An Associated Press photographer at the scene saw three dead bodies laid out, all in Afghan army uniforms, which militants often wear as a disguise.

So do false-flagging, special-ops s***s.

An AK-47 assault rifle, a rocket-propelled grenade launcher, and a grenade were laid out nearby.

Oh, well, that cinches it.

The same base was targeted in June....

So much for progress.

NATO said it would not be deterred by the attack, the second against an eastern outpost in the past two weeks. Insurgents attacked an observation post in Paktika province on Oct. 30, and NATO said at least 40 Taliban fighters were killed before the attackers retreated....

With NATO focusing its counterinsurgency campaign in the southern provinces of Kandahar and Helmand, the security situation in the east and north has steadily been deteriorating.

"Insurgent strikes kill 11 in Afghanistan" by Associated Press / November 15, 2010

KABUL, Afghanistan — A series of bomb blasts and insurgents attacks killed 11 people across Afghanistan yesterday, including five NATO service members and three Afghan police, officials said.

The strikes, which come a day after Taliban fighters stormed a NATO base in eastern Afghanistan, show the insurgents’ fighting spirit has not been broken despite a surge of US troops and firepower.

Also yesterday, the Afghan president’s office said the former ambassador-designate to Pakistan, who was seized by gunmen two years ago in the Pakistani city of Peshawar, has been released and is back home safe....

"Afghan leader, in turnaround, backs Petraeus; Had criticized strategy of top US general" by David Nakamura, Washington Post / November 16, 2010

KABUL, Afghanistan — In a separate development yesterday, Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar reiterated that the insurgents were not open to talks with the Afghan government, saying the Taliban’s strategy is to increase military operations nationwide and battle the US-led coalition in a war of attrition.

But in a sign that NATO’s campaign against the Taliban may be hurting the militants far more than they have acknowledged, Mullah Omar also appealed for funding from Muslims around the world.

Yeah, we are winning and they are bumming, yup.

Who even knows if this really even happened.  I'm supposed to believe the lying war paper?
