Thursday’s Deep Freeze

Was going to be a thaw after putting the blog on ice, but I didn't like the front page right from the start and didn't feel the agenda-pu$hing $lop was worth reading:

Warren shows off policy chops but rivals decline to hit her on packed debate stage

Didn't go anywhere near it and I didn't have to because the Washington Post will tell you who were the winners and losers (Fox and others said Gabbard won), while the Globe tells me who was left standing and the New York Times  did a fact-check (ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!) on them both as Warren avoided all the debate perils, and in what can only be called a crass display of political opportunism, Warren, other Democrats appear at migrant detention facility ahead of debates even though the decisive issue in 2020 will be climate change.

Fallout from fatal New Hampshire crash continues with state officials pointing fingers

Good Lord, my state government not only lied to us but tried to cover it up, too. What is this world coming to, and what reason would Connecticut have to cover its ass? Even the lying state officials here admit they forwarded the information that got lost in channels(?).

Speaking of being lost in channels, item #3:

At Wayfair, idealism and corporate culture clash

I flipped below the fold and found this:

Commentary
Facing reality in the heartbreaking photo of drowned migrants

Waving a couple of dead bodies at us in what could be a contrived photograph in a massive guilt trip when we have stacks of corpses in Yemen, Palestine, etc, etc.

I've seen this movie before, and it becomes downright offensive when it is being pushed by the  same pre$$ that promoted the mass-murdering wars based on lies and is now waving a couple of bodies at us and telling us how you can help make a difference here and now and then get back to business as usual (those last three links encompassed the entirety of my C1 front page, sigh).

Just wondering, does Israel purchase anything from Wayfair, because you might want to walk out over that, too -- or can you?

Now back to the office:

New Partners chief no stranger to role of uniter

Yeah, at least someone is around to fix things!

{@@##$$%%^^&&}

I flip the paper open and at the top of page A2 I find this as my National lead:

Trump lashes out after Mueller agrees to testify to Congress

I'm wondering if anyone will be brave enough to ask him about the Israeli spy ring the FBI rounded up before 9/11, among other things.

The co-lead, located to the left and below:

Senate approves $4.6 billion emergency spending bill for Southern border crisis

Other agendas rising to the fore and being briefly and squarely pushed in the lower right corner:

2 more deputies fired after shooting at Florida high school

NRA’s top lobbyist resigns amid turmoil within the group

California to require background checks for ammo purchases

Graves of US WWII servicemen found on remote Pacific island

Oddly, page A3 contained a full page advertisement for a furniture company (hello, Wayfair!) that seems to be on the cutting edge of another cultural issue (a very colorful photo without the selfie after flipping to page A4 will give you a clue).

{@@##$$%%^^&&}

Meanwhile, my page A4 World lead was this:

US, North Korea in talks to set up third Trump-Kim summit

Whatever. I'm tired of the photo-ops with the massive carbon footprints that lead nowhere.

Kremlin confirms Putin-Trump meeting at G-20 summit

Ditto.

US military says 2 service members killed in Afghanistan

Peace talks went nowhere again, huh?

Thought Trump said he was getting us out of there.

Australian media demands press freedom law reforms

No offense, but I'm tired of the $elf-$erving whining of the pre$$ as they engage and indulge in a $hell game wre$tling match.

U.S., Japan defense chiefs affirm security pact Trump questioned

Yeah, gonna need that soon when war on China shall be waged. WWII, donchaknow?

A5 is where the meat was:

Iran’s supreme leader vows never to give in to US sanctions

Well, so much for Plan A, what's plan B, and do you ever get the feeling this guy doesn't know what the hell he is doing?

Israeli election redo kicks off with a former prime minister looking to topple Netanyahu

His opponent was fingering Al-CIA-Duh from London within the hour, and it was obviously good for Israel

Nothing about the Deal of the Century today.

Page A6:

NASA unseals moon rock samples for the first time since the Apollo missions

I guess before coming back down another massive lie needed to be heaped upon me, what with the 50 year anniversary of that production.

Page A7:

House panel votes to subpoena Kellyanne Conway after she fails to appear for hearing

Trump Says Fed Should Have Draghi as Chief Instead of Powell

It's not the $cum that sits in the chair, it's the $y$tem and none dare challenge it.

The notes in the notebook underneath the Fed were these:

House seeks to curb federal spending at Trump properties

Waitress accused of spitting on Eric Trump

Page A9:

An architect of Trump administration’s pro-coal rules to leave EPA

Now we are back down to earth.

As GOP spokeswoman in Ariz., Grisham yanked reporters’ access after critical coverage

Oh, she is now Public Enemy #1.

Page B1:

Silly liberals, what are you thinking?

All about that yarn no one believes, ugh!

While Baker is in London, criticism mounts over handling of RMV and MBTA

He just handed out a $30 million contract for improvements.

How Portland became the center of the unknown create world

It's aboutBigfoot, Nessie, the Yeti, all that stuff!

Feeling on an island and outcast, huh?

Wait, that water could still be here? Stormwater could last up to 5 years in streams, researchers say

Turns out Cambridge really is Hell.

Briefly checking the blotter:

Essex DA, DCF investigating death of 15-month-old Lawrence girl in foster care

I'm not surprised the Globe didn't cover that in the web version.

National Guard to assist with security at Logan Airport during summer months

Why, is there chatter regarding a false flag?

I mean, I wouldn't put it past those Iranians to do something on July 4, 'eh?

Somerville man in critical condition after being struck by truck on Lynnway

Man allegedly holding sword is tasered twice by Manchester, N.H., police responding to noise complaint

Who bloodied him up?

Was lucky he wasn't killed.

B3:

Mass. bar, judicial groups urge SJC to resume pay to judge facing federal criminal charges

Hey, you can judge for yourself whether she de$erves it (they take care of their own).

City Council hearing will address student workers’ rights

Maybe they should address what I found on page B4 first:

Boston officials identify 19-year-old man who was killed in police shooting

Globe buried it like the boy's body.

Owners of five shuttered South Coast nursing homes cited for wage theft

Yeah, bury this mistreatment and mismanagement of our most vulnerable seniors, too.

Those look like front page stories to me!

Time to drop some names on page B6:

Sue O’Connell’s NECN news show will come to an end this week

Joe Hill, son of Stephen King, launching horror-themed DC Comics line

Chris Evans’s ‘Mystery Date’ photos reemerge

Julian Edelman tells Stephen Colbert that his favorite Super Bowl ring is ‘the next one’

Jenny Slate and Seth Meyers joked about her speech for a graduating class of 1

Alleged sex tape in R. Kelly case turned over to defense

2 x 4 in the bottom right corner to end the B section, and from the looks of things, he's dead.
