Ea$ter Ma$$

There will be no swearing sermon today:

I stopped reading after the next paragraph started with signs of the coronavirus lingered over weekend rituals.

This blog is literally at a cro$$roads:

"For Kenmore Square, does the end of an era mean a promising future?" by Tim Logan and Janelle Nanos Globe Staff, April 3, 2021

Kenmore Square usually feels most alive in springtime. It’s a place rooted in rituals: The annual return of Red Sox fans spilling over the Brookline Avenue bridge toward Fenway Park. A tightly packed crowd watching Marathon runners stream by. Students basking in the sun, and diners people-watching from the sidewalk patio of Eastern Standard, but this April, the square feels dead. Baseball’s back, but with only a fraction of the fans. The Marathon has been put off until October. Scaffolding for various building projects has turned the sidewalks into an obstacle course, and Eastern Standard’s once-lively patio is dark, occupied by weedy planters and a jumbo-size rat trap.

The recently announced permanent closure of the landmark restaurant and its siblings in the lobby of the Hotel Commonwealth — Island Creek Oyster Bar and The Hawthorne — feels to many like the end of an era for Kenmore Square. The demise of the three restaurants, caused by an acrimonious breakup between owner Garrett Harker and his landlord, in some ways reflects how far Kenmore has come, and where it might go next.

What I will a$k at this point is who will benefit going forward because I would like to think that they are now cursed for going along and advancing the mass genocide project that is quietly going to bring an end to $port$, on which this woman so eloquently elaborates.

Oh, btw, what goes to Vega$, $tays in Vega$.

People of a certain age might remember a Kenmore Square where fights were more likely to take place on the street than in a lawyer’s office. In the 1970s and ‘80s, punk and new wave music filled The Rat, while disco ruled at Narcissus. Guinness floats were hoisted at Deli Haus, and booze-soaked patrons teetered toward IHOP after last call.

“It was more of a music-and-nightlife neighborhood back then,” said Pam Beale, who along with her husband has owned Cornwall’s Pub in Kenmore since the 1970s. “It was edgy, a little offbeat. The kind of place that came alive between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.”

It wasn’t always pretty.

It used to be called the Combat Zone because there were stabbings and such every night.

“It’s safe to say it wasn’t the glistening jewel of Boston,” said Patrick Lyons, the local hospitality scion who at the time was opening clubs in the derelict warehouses surrounding Fenway Park.

By the mid-’90s — around the time the T station flooded and had to close for two months — Boston University had begun buying up buildings as part of its vision for what would become the Hotel Commonwealth.

The Rat ― its glory days long gone ― closed in late 1997, and was razed in 2000 to clear space for the 148-room hotel, which began welcoming guests in 2003.....

That's when I checked out of this trip down memory lane(?).

I don't want to argue balls and $trikes, but at least there is no wait in line to get into the ballpark:

"From restaurants to salons, business is coming back to life as the vaccinated venture out" by Shirley Leung and Larry Edelman April 3, 2021

The Globe has a $pring $ickness!

Spring has sprung, and the Massachusetts economy is stirring out of COVID-19 hibernation.

Economists have long predicted that vaccinations would jumpstart spending, and early signs are that people who are fully protected — nearly 1.5 million so far in Massachusetts — are eating out, going to salons and gyms, and returning to activities they otherwise avoided during the pandemic.

For the hardest hit sectors of the state’s economy — travel and tourism, restaurants and bars, any business that relies on face-to-face interaction with customers — the combination of jabs in the arm and nearly $3 trillion in federal relief money authorized since December is offering tangible hope that more than a year of layoffs and austerity is finally coming to an end.

As an example, the Globe cites a hair appointment.

To be sure, the recovery has a long way to go, with businesses operating under COVID-19 capacity restrictions and downtowns still ghost towns because of the persistence of remote work; meanwhile, variant strains and rising infection rates, especially among younger people who are not waiting for the vaccine to resume normal life, could deal us another setback.

To be sure is something you use when you are admitting that something is true, although it seems to contradict a more general statement that you are making -- identify this journali$tic new$ report as agenda-pushing propaganda -- and look at the Globe setting up the young people for hatred and blame for this ongoing crime against humanity called COVID!

You can't get any more evil than that as the Brazilian variant has landed on the shores of Cape Cod!

A major threat to the fledging recovery is the hesitancy of many people to get vaccinated, according to Alicia Sasser Modestino, an associate professor of public policy, urban affairs, and economics at Northeastern University.

“We are going to hit a wall at some point where the progress on vaccines is going to stall out,” she said.

For now, at least, the trends are good.

People in Massachusetts are spending more time outside the home than at any point since October, according to Google data that track movement using mobile phone location data.

Consumer spending in the state was 10 percent above pre-pandemic levels in mid-March, fueled by increases in online and in-store retail purchases, data monitored by Opportunity Insights show. Stimulus checks and enhanced jobless benefits have put more money in the hands of lower- and middle-income consumers, economists said, and on Friday, the Labor Department issued a blockbuster employment report, with the US economy creating 916,000 jobs in March, the most in seven months. Also in March, a hiring index of small businesses in Massachusetts posted one of the largest one-month increases among 20 states tracked by Paychex and IHS Markit.....

I'm told Pedro Aguirre, owner of Vanity Loft Salon in Mission Hill, is among those small business owners who are looking to hire as I clip the rest.

Here are the be$t $eats in the hou$e:

"Boston’s hospital chiefs moonlight on corporate boards at rates far beyond the national rate; Hospital chiefs and trustees defend this as boosting public-private partnerships, but critics say these board positions - some paying millions of dollars - raise troubling issues of conflict of interest and hospital priorities" by Liz Kowalczyk, Spotlight fellow Sarah L. Ryley, Mark Arsenault and Spotlight editor Patricia Wen Globe Staff and Globe Staff, April 3, 2021

As chief of Boston Children’s Hospital, one of the most esteemed pediatric hospitals in the world, Sandra Fenwick had outsized influence. After the pandemic struck last spring, she used that clout to lobby Massachusetts legislators for more money for telemedicine, a suddenly essential alternative to in-person visits.

She also spoke glowingly about remote care during an online forum last September, saying that satisfaction among patients and staff was hitting “eight, nine, and 10.’' The hospital, she told a Harvard public health professor, would objectively study the best uses of telemedicine, but she predicted it “is absolutely here to stay.”

That is what Bill Gates wanted and what the WEF dystopia the Globe promotes calls for, and this is one-day blip like so many other things before it goes back to bu$ine$$ as usual and the Great Cull continues to be advanced.

What she did not say on both occasions was that she had a highly paid side job: She has, since 2019, had a seat on the board of directors of a major, for-profit telemedicine company.

Her directorship at Teladoc Health, formerly Livongo, vastly supplemented her $2.7 million yearly compensation at Children’s Hospital before her March 31 retirement. As of the last week in March, her company stock, which was compensation for her board work, was worth $8.8 million, according to an analysis for the Globe conducted by Equilar, a corporate leadership data firm. Like other directors, who are also paid for their work, she is legally bound to act in the company’s best interests.

A Children’s spokesperson said the hospital does not do business with Teladoc, but even without such a direct conflict, these sorts of lucrative directorships have drawn criticism from medical ethicists and some doctors who say they are not always disclosed, and can blur the loyalties of hospital leaders and distract them from their core responsibilities.

Such arrangements were once relatively uncommon among chief executives and presidents of Boston’s academic medical centers. Their prestigious jobs already demanded enough of them, overseeing billion-dollar institutions devoted to patient care, scientific research, and medical training. And they had been alerted to the potential risks: Several scandals during the 2000s had revealed cozy relationships between hospital doctors and pharmaceutical companies, leading to greater scrutiny and more restrictions on these relationships, but outside commitments of this kind are not uncommon here anymore — far from it. While it remains fairly unusual for hospital chiefs across the country to work as directors for publicly traded companies, the practice is now routine in Boston, the Globe Spotlight Team has found, but the practice can have corrosive side effects.

Ok, tell us what we already know as the hopes of humanity finish the job and collect their reward.

Boston stands out in allowing such potential conflicts, and big money sidelines, to proliferate. The Spotlight team analyzed 120 large teaching hospitals, children’s hospitals, and cancer centers outside of Boston. It found only eight were headed by chiefs who also work as directors for a publicly traded company.

Among 46 of the most prestigious hospitals — those ranked by U.S. News & World Report and the journal Nature as the nation’s top medical and research institutions, not including ones in the Boston area — chiefs at just six hospitals sat on boards of publicly traded company, the analysis found.

Reporters also examined 11 major cities and metropolitan areas with clusters of these hospitals, including New York, Chicago, Houston, and Los Angeles. They found only a handful with one hospital chief who also devoted time to the board of a publicly traded company.....

The New York Times asks what would you do?

"Would you jump in to stop an assault?" by Andrew Jacobs New York Times, April 3, 2021

Imagine that you’re walking on the street and see a man viciously beating an older woman.

What would you, just a passerby, do?

I'm flattening his ass, next question.

That question — about the ethical responsibility to help a stranger in distress and the dynamics that prevent people from acting — has been the focus of research for decades and helps inform some of the debate this past week around two chilling incidents.

In one, a man pummels and chokes a subway passenger in New York into unconsciousness; in the other, an assailant on a busy Midtown street in Manhattan knocks a Filipino immigrant to the ground and then repeatedly kicks her head.

The videos, which were posted, prompted swift condemnation, with many asking why witnesses had seemingly failed to intervene during the acts of violence. For many, the incidents revived a common complaint about the atomized selfishness of big city residents.

“New York has, once again, cemented its long-standing reputation for apathy,” wrote Alex Lo, a columnist for The South China Morning Post in Hong Kong, but those who study what’s known as the bystander effect say the narrative of callous apathy is an outdated trope that dates to a New York Times account of the 1964 murder of Kitty Genovese. She was a bar manager stabbed to death outside her building in Queens while three dozen neighbors supposedly ignored her cries for help. Although many key details of the article have since been debunked — the claim that 38 people witnessed the crime, for one, was greatly exaggerated — the account gained international attention and fueled a largely one-side debate about the perils of urban living.

They made a made-for-TV movie about it, and notice how the New York Times is at the bottom of a lot of stereotypes, outdated tropes, and misinformation?

The crime also gave birth to an entire branch of psychology dedicated to understanding the behavioral dynamics of people confronted by public violence, and in the intervening years, researchers have found that popular beliefs about the cold detachment of urban dwellers is largely a canard, one sustained by headline-grabbing media accounts of people who appear to ignore a crime in progress. Such incidents, experts say, are actually quite rare.

How little things have changed, and they have actually gotten much worse and will get even worse going forward.

In a 2019 study published in the journal American Psychologist, researchers in Britain and the Netherlands reviewed surveillance footage of 200 violent altercations in three countries and found that bystanders had intervened about 90% of the time. In many of the instances, several strangers worked together to calm a fight.

Or filled the streets protesting mass-murdering invasions and wars based on lies blared from the front pages of pre$$ organs like the New York Times.

The authors of the study found little variation in the rates of intervention in the three cities — Amsterdam; Cape Town, South Africa; and Lancaster, England — suggesting that the human impulse to help strangers despite risks to one’s own personal safety is universal.

Interesting, because "hundreds of people marched Saturday through central London and other cities across England and Wales to protest the British government’s plan to hand the police new powers to tackle demonstrations. Protesters walked past Buckingham Palace towards Parliament Square, just outside the Houses of Parliament. A ring of officers positioned themselves around the statue of wartime prime minister Winston Churchill in Parliament Square. The statue had been defaced during anti-racism protests last year. Protesters, including many who carried anti-sexism placards and chanted “Women scared everywhere, police and government do not care!” passed by Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s office at 10 Downing Street. The demonstrators were upset at the Conservative government’s Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill, which is currently going through parliament. Under the terms of the bill, which covers England and Wales, police will be able to ban or shut down protests."

How much more evidence do you need of the nefarious motives of power-mad, psychopathic politicians and their genocidal globali$t $tring-pullers as Britain, the cradle of the Magna Carte, goes full-blown totalitarian?

Richard Philpot, lead author of the study, said the uniform rate of interventions was especially surprising given the climate of fear in Cape Town, a city with a comparatively higher rate of violent crime.

“Now that we can examine real-life public conflicts on a large scale, we see that people actually help out a lot,” said Philpot, a social psychologist at Lancaster University. “This is certainly reassuring, to know that others around do not exclusively inhibit helping, but are a resource for good.”

Unfortunately, they are invariably Republican and Trump supporters. The other side is full of hate and it's now obvious.

Still, the decision to intervene comes with real risks.

Jackson Katz, co-founder of Mentors in Violence Prevention, an influential program started in 1997 that empowers people to intervene in instances of sexual assault, said fear, not apathy, is the main reason people fail to act when confronted by violence.

Fear is eventually overcome by the fight-or-flight instinct.

That is when I stopped reading another pre$$ trip down memory lane, and you see what is left out of the debate here, right?

The article isn't asking what you would do in a case like George Floyd and police state violence; it's pushing the raci$m is everywhere angle with the focus on anti-Asian bias (cozying up to China in anticipation of UN troops on American soil?) being done mostly by what I perceive to be paid agent provocateurs.

Of course, I'm crying out for help every day as I am assaulted by the agenda-pushing piece of propaganda called the pre$$ and those cries are going unanswered by them so....

Alan Berkowitz, an expert on the bystander effect and author of “Response-Ability: A Complete Guide to Bystander Intervention,” said other factors, including the race of the perpetrator or victim, could play an unconscious role in determining whether people help a stranger in need.

“Research suggests that bystanders who, for instance, are white might not feel it’s worth their while getting involved in an incident involving two people of color, but they might feel more comfortable intervening in a fight between two white male executives,” said Berkowitz, a psychologist who runs workshops for college students, community groups and members of the military about ways to effectively intervene to prevent acts of violence and sexual assault. “Once you train yourself to become aware of these things, and you are trained to do interventions that are safe and effective, you become more comfortable acting on your desire to help.”

Some of those tactics include distracting the perpetrator, calling for help or finding a way to enlist other bystanders to intervene more collaboratively.

“Talking to other bystanders is really important, because often we don’t know that others are also concerned,” he said, but as in the Genovese case, the initial accounts of a crime — and the responses of bystanders — are often incomplete, and video footage, it turns out, may not always tell the full story. In the case of the recent beating on the subway, the victim, the police later said, was Hispanic, not Asian, and they said he might have instigated the violence with a racial slur. Experts say that filming an attack is also an act of courage that can deter the assailant from inflicting even more grievous harm. It can also serve as an invaluable tool for bringing an assailant to justice.

I can not begin to tell you how insulting that is, especially coming from the tribal $upremacy you can not name that lords above us all.

Filming rather than acting to prevent it is now courageous, God help us all, and in some cases the victim "might have" called it down on themselves as the "initial accounts" -- i.e. ma$$ media pre$$ -- don't always tell the full story (nor do they later).

I tell you what: when the bystander jew$paper here calls out Israel for its treatment of Palestinians (and a significant segment of its own now-outcast population due to their stance on the GMO vaxxeen) rather than, say, Myanmar, maybe I will sit up and take notice.

For now, (expletive deleted).

In the case of the attack on the woman outside the apartment building in Manhattan, the victim’s daughter said someone had tried to help: A passerby yelled at the perpetrator in an attempt to distract him. There were no calls to 911, but the union representing the doormen who were seen watching the attack from inside a lobby — and who then closed the front door once the assailant fled — defended the men, saying the brief clip from the surveillance footage did not show what had come afterward. The men, the union said, went outside to help the woman and flagged down a passing police car.....

You sure you want to call them?

Turns out it was all a dream in 1968.

{@@##$$%%^^&&}

Flopping, 'er, flipping the page one finds this:

No kidding?

That stuff is never intended to come down because the junta in D.C. is hated beyond belief.

They aren't in any danger from a staged and scripted, false-flag "insurrection,"only because no one wants to waste time on parasites. They just want the tyrant politicians to go away and leave them alone.

"The deadly breach of the Capitol’s perimeter could delay the gradual reopening of the building’s grounds to the public just as lawmakers were eyeing a return to more normal security measures following the Jan. 6 insurrection. Capitol Police officer William “Billy” Evans, an 18-year veteran of the force, was killed Friday when a man rammed his car into a barrier outside the Senate side of the building. The driver, identified as 25-year-old Noah Green, was shot and killed after he got out of his car and lunged at police with a knife. Their deaths came less than two weeks after the Capitol Police removed an outer fence that had cut off a wide swath of the area to cars and pedestrians, in an effort to secure the complex after thousands of then-President Donald Trump’s supporters had marched on the building Jan. 6...."

They cleaned the patsy perp up quite nicely, too:

"The suspect was subsequently identified by a senior law enforcement official as Noah R. Green, 25, who described himself as a supporter of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and said he had been struggling through the last few months of the pandemic. He said he had recently left his job and been “faced with fear, hunger, loss of wealth and diminution of fruit,” but the motivation of the suspect remained a mystery. On Facebook, Green had posted speeches and articles written by Farrakhan and Elijah Muhammad, who led the Nation of Islam from 1934 to 1975, that discussed the decline of the United States. Two law enforcement officials confirmed that the Facebook page, which was taken down Friday, had belonged to Green. He had posted on Facebook about his personal struggles, especially during the pandemic and the attack was a worrisome sign that since Jan. 6, the Capitol has become a magnet for angry or disturbed people. Investigators said they did not know a motive but did not believe it was “terrorism related,” Robert J. Contee, acting chief of the Washington Metropolitan Police Department, told reporters, and Congress was not in session Friday, as lawmakers were scattered around the country for the holiday weekend.

The incongruity of a militant black muslim and not a white insurrectionist(??) was lost on me until I say a post somewhere noting that Farrakhan is vociferously against the vaccines, thus the framing of this patsy. I'm surprised he didn't leave a rifle lying around somewhere, if you know what I mean.

More memory lane, from the "Wa$hington Compo$t this time.

Now PLAY BALL!

"Georgia governor vows a fight after MLB yanks All-Star Game" by MAE ANDERSON The Associated Press, April 3, 2021

News of Major League Baseball’s decision to pull this summer’s All-Star Game from Georgia over its sweeping new voting law reverberated among fans Saturday, while Gov. Brian Kemp vowed to defend the measure, saying “free and fair elections” are worth any threats, boycotts or lawsuits.

The Republican governor said at a news conference that MLB “caved to fear and lies from liberal activists” when it yanked the July 13 game from Atlanta’s Truist Park. He added the decision will hurt working people in the state and have long-term consequences on the economy.

“I want to be clear: I will not be backing down from this fight. We will not be intimidated, and we will also not be silenced,” Kemp said.

“Major League Baseball, Coca-Cola and Delta may be scared of Stacey Abrams, Joe Biden and the left, but I am not,” he said, referring to companies that have also criticized the new law.

Too late for Trump, and I guess the murder of the political aide and daughter's boyfriend deterred him on that.

Maybe they are finally waking up, but as far as elections go it is likely too late.

Three groups already have filed a lawsuit over the measure, which adds greater legislative control over how elections are run and includes strict identification requirements for voting absentee by mail. It also limits the use of ballot drop boxes and makes it a crime to hand out food or water to voters waiting in line, among other provisions.

Critics say the law will disproportionately affect communities of color.

Georgia Republicans say the changes were needed to maintain voter confidence in the election system, and the governor insists opponents have mischaracterized what the law does, yet GOP lawmakers made the revisions largely in response to false claims of fraud in the 2020 elections made by former President Donald Trump and his supporters.

Abrams, who has championed voting rights since narrowly losing to Kemp in the 2018 election, is among those who have spoken out against the law. The Democrat is being closely watched to see if she seeks a 2022 rematch.

Baseball fans, meanwhile, appeared divided on pulling the game from Georgia.

Patrick Smith, a lifelong Braves fan in Ellisville, Mississippi, said he thinks the league made the right decision and noted that not taking a stand would have polarized some supporters.

“When governments restrict access to the ballot box, someone has to step in to encourage these entities to roll back those measures,” he said.

Ball

Lorre Sweetman, in Kahului, Hawaii, said it was a poor move by MLB because it wasn’t based on the actual new voting laws but on “political pandering” and misinformation.

Steeeeeeee-riiiiike!

Still, while some fans upset about the decision have called for a boycott of professional baseball, she said she will not stop watching games and her three grandsons are still learning the sport.

“They caved to pressure without considering the message this sends to fans who just want to enjoy the game and support their team,” she said. “We need to take politics out of sports,” but Dick Pagano, a baseball fan in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, said he will not watch or attend any games this year.

$ports have always been involved in politics, especially when promoting war, and I have no interest in $port$ anymore. They never even occur to me during the day, and the Globe $ports section is now a forgotten afterthought.

“They shot themselves in the foot,” said Pagano, who added he will be disappointed to miss the planned Hank Aaron celebration during the All-Star Game, because he once saw him play in the 1957 World Series. Aaron, who played for the Braves in Atlanta and Milwaukee for most of his career, faced extensive hate mail and racism as he closed in on breaking Babe Ruth’s home run record.

So will Hank, who took the vaccine to show it was safe and died soon after.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred previously said he made the call to move the All-Star events and the amateur draft from Atlanta after discussions with individual players and the Players Alliance, an organization of Black players formed after the death of George Floyd last year. A new ballpark for the events wasn’t immediately revealed.

Someone did point out that the MLB looks like a hypocritical switch hitter when it comes to the human rights records of Cuba and China, as the AP swings and misses.

Kemp also criticized the league for not trying to improve voter access in its home state of New York, where he said voters need an excuse to vote by mail and have fewer days of early voting than in Georgia. He said its decision means “cancel culture” is coming for American businesses and jobs.

It's called COMMUNISM!

Trump also blasted the league’s move, while former President Barack Obama congratulated MLB for its decision, saying there was no better way for baseball to honor Aaron, “who always led by example.”

He sure did!

Don't take the vaccine!

Of course, then you can't get into the ballpark (boo-hoo), and "with some destinations, cruise lines and venues already requiring travelers to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19, keeping that record is key. In New York, for example, proof of vaccination or a recent negative test will be required for entry into large venues or catered events when they are allowed to reopen at reduced capacity Friday. Proof will be required at events with more than 100 people, so anyone having a wedding or Sweet 16 with more attendees will have to ask guests for evidence that they are complying with the rules" as Concepción de León of the New York Times tells you what’s on a vaccine card; what happens if you lose your card; how you should safeguard your card; if you need your card to travel; if New York will require a vaccine passport; if the Biden administration will require a vaccine passport, and the benefits are that businesses across the country, from bars to marijuana dispensaries, have been offering perks to those with a COVID-19 vaccination card. Krispy Kreme, for instance, said last week that for the rest of the year, it would give one free glazed doughnut per day to anyone who presents proof of a COVID-19 vaccination. Michael Tattersfield, the company’s chief executive, told Fox News that as vaccinations have accelerated across the country, “We made the decision that, ‘hey, we can support the next act of joy,’ which is, if you come by, show us a vaccine card, get a doughnut any time, any day, every day if you choose to.”

Bribing you to take their toxic GMO concoction with a doughnut!

How healthy, especially when obesity puts you at risk of CVD and have you noticed that the mass-murder of trees for new$papers and ba$eball bats never enters the climate change equation?

I guess that would qualify as a foul ball or hit batsman, so take your base:

Shane Goldmacher of the New York Times is reporting that Trump scammed a 63-year-old battling cancer and living in Kansas City on less than $1,000 per month as they throw at his head!

{@@##$$%%^^&&}

Speaking of coups and dictators:

"President Recep Tayyip Erdogan faced down the coup attempt and cracked down hard in the aftermath, imposing a state of emergency for two years, detaining 100,000 people and purging 150,000 public employees from their jobs. More than 8,000 military personnel were prosecuted for their part in the insurrection, including more than 600 trainees, cadets and conscripts — most in their early 20s — whose misfortune was to have been given orders that night. Their fate has been largely overlooked in Turkey, where government rhetoric against the coup perpetrators is strident and families and lawyers of the defendants have been scared to speak out, but....."

Well, there are insurrections and then there are regime changes, 'er, insurrections, according to Carlotta Gall (sure is) of the New York Times, and what we have here is the failed Obama coup in 2016 that was to set the stage for Hillary.

Now Turkey is part of an unbreakable alliance with Russia, Iran, and China so we are sunk when the world war breaks out.

"Philippine defense chief in verbal tussle with China on reef" by Jim Gomez The Associated Press, April 3, 2021

MANILA, Philippines — An annoyed Philippine defense chief renewed a demand on Saturday for dozens of Chinese vessels to leave a Manila-claimed reef in the South China Sea, and said he would not be fooled by Chinese assertions that the vessels were taking shelter from bad weather.

The Chinese Embassy shot back at what it called a “perplexing statement” by Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and insisted that the vessels had the right to take shelter in what it said was Chinese territory.

The unusually hostile public exchange stemmed from the sighting early last month by the Philippine coast guard of more than 200 Chinese vessels, which Lorenzana called “militias,” at the Whitsun Reef. The Philippines filed a diplomatic protest, saying the reef, which it calls Julian Felipe, lies within an internationally recognized offshore zone, where it has the exclusive right to exploit fisheries, oil, gas and other resources.

China ignored Manila’s demand for the Chinese vessels to leave the area, which it calls Niu’e Jiao and claims as Chinese territory. The Chinese Embassy in Manila said the vessels were taking shelter at the reef from rough sea conditions.

“The Chinese ambassador has a lot of explaining to do,” Lorenzana said in a statement Saturday, adding that the latest Philippine military surveillance showed 44 Chinese vessels were still moored at the reef.

“I am no fool. The weather has been good so far, so they have no other reason to stay there. These vessels should be on their way out. You should get out of there,” Lorenzana said Saturday.

The Chinese Embassy responded anew by repeating that the vessels were taking cover in what it called Chinese waters.

“It is completely normal for Chinese fishing vessels to fish in the waters and take shelter near the reef during rough sea conditions,” the embassy said.

“We hope that authorities concerned would make constructive efforts and avoid any unprofessional remarks which may further fan irrational emotions,” the embassy said. It added that “China is committed to safeguarding peace and stability in the waters.”

Whitsun Reef lies in the Spratlys, the most hotly contested region in the South China Sea. The Philippines regards the resource-rich chain of islands, islets and atolls as part of its western province of Palawan, but the offshore region is also claimed entirely or partly by China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Taiwan and Brunei. China has turned seven disputed reefs into missile-protected island bases in recent years, ratcheting up tensions.

The United States has expressed support for the Philippines, its long-time treaty ally, and accused China of using “maritime militia to intimidate, provoke and threaten other nations, which undermines peace and security in the region.”

Anything this war criminal government accuses others of is something it is guilty of itself.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has nurtured friendly ties with Beijing since taking office in 2016 and has been criticized for not immediately demanding Chinese compliance with an international arbitration ruling that invalidated Beijing’s historic claims to virtually the entire South China Sea. China has refused to recognize the 2016 ruling, which it called “a sham,” and continues to defy it.....

Meaning he is a target for removal and regime change.

"It’s March again . . . or was it always March? As the pandemic closes in on grim one-year anniversary, people feel stuck in time; “We never left March, we’ve been here the whole time”" by Steve Annear Globe Staff, March 1, 2021

It’s March again! Spring is right around the corner; summer, hot on its tail. Better days beckon.

Or was it ever not March? Sometimes it’s hard to tell.

So much has happened in the year of the pandemic — most everything was canceled, a new president was elected, Tom Brady left but won another championship, and three highly effective vaccines emerged to one day restore normalcy, but in some ways, it feels like time hasn’t budged a bit.

For many of us, the past 12 months have been somewhat of a blur, the days mixing together like paints on a palette. We are Phil Connors from “Groundhog Day” — trapped in a maddening loop and searching for signs that it will be over eventually.

Sure, things seem to be heading in the right direction, but as March 1 landed on our doorsteps on a raw, rainy Monday morning, it was easy to feel like we’d never truly moved beyond the bleak chaos of March 2020.....

I don't need to relive it and lend annear to an a$$hole.

At least there is March Madness this year, yaaaaaaay!

I'll bet the TV ratings are down from their historic highs a few years ago, just like all the other $ucky $port$ I will never care about again.

"As bills pile up for many jobless workers, state’s ‘dinosaur’ benefits system provides only frustration" by Katie Johnston Globe Staff, March 1, 2021

For many Massachusetts workers who lost their jobs during the pandemic, the stress of being laid off has been magnified by the Sisyphean effort to navigate a balky unemployment system that has been hammered by more than 2.7 million new claims filed since mid-March of last year.

Some unemployed workers have gone months without benefits, due in part to a large number of fraudulent claims, many filed by foreign criminal organizations. This has created huge delays as officials work to verify the identities of filers. Between April and January, the Department of Unemployment Assistance issued $687 million in payments that were either confirmed or potentially fraudulent and recovered $252 million, according to the latest data, released last week. Meanwhile, the state says it has prevented $19.2 billion worth of fraudulent payments from being disbursed.

Do like the latest list of excuses for withholding the money you need to survive as they loot it?

I mean, listen to them! They FINALLY CARE about FRAUD!!

This is disingenuous at best.

Of course, the failure, corruption, and bankruptcy of local and state governments is intentional to get you to beg for a higher authority.

The situation got worse in late December, after unemployment benefits lapsed the day before then-President Trump signed a bill extending them. The bill included new programs and employment verifications that states had to implement immediately, often using antiquated systems. These additional hurdles have added to the raft of legitimate claims being denied or delayed or cut off, with little notice or help from the DUA. Some people are even erroneously being told they have to pay back what they have already received.

It doesn’t appear the crisis will end any time soon. By the end of November, the state had recovered less than half of the jobs lost since April, and as of early February, more than 605,000 people had continuing unemployment claims in Massachusetts. If unemployment benefits are extended again when they expire in mid-March, claimants still will be dealing with a difficult, debilitated system — referred to as a “dinosaur” in a January report by the state House Committee on Post Audit and Oversight — for months to come.

I thought it was updated and repaired a few years ago.

“They weren’t prepared to address unemployment in regular times,” said Rory MacAneny, an employment attorney at Community Legal Aid in Worcester, which has opened more than 500 unemployment cases since March 17 of last year. “When the system became strained, it was straining an already ineffective and inefficient system.”

As with the state’s much-maligned vaccine website, people trying to collect unemployment are up in arms about the system’s many failings.

So what?

Nothing is ever fucking done and the rot continues.

One furloughed technology worker’s payments stopped abruptly for no known reason when he was officially laid off at the end of November. He was out more than $10,000 by the time he got his state senator’s office involved. A roofing company payroll employee drained her 401(k) and incurred significant credit card debt after her payments suddenly ended and she was asked to repay more than $6,000 after questions were raised about her eligibility; following a hearing almost four months later, her benefits were reinstated.

Now about those PPP and SBA loan programs that amounted to trillions in bribes, 'er, stolen loot?

Hello?

Marie Justice-Hughes, a 62-year-old pediatric home-care nurse, has been trying to get back to work full time since spending eight days in the hospital with COVID last spring, but her symptoms have persisted, leaving her short of breath, exhausted, and suffering from PTSD. She had been relying on unemployment to support herself and her disabled husband since May, but at the end of December, her payments stopped. Due to the lapse of pandemic benefits, her employer had to send in paperwork in early January to renew her claim, but the agency told her there isn’t enough staff to deal with her case.

Paperwork?

In the work from home, forever lockdown world?

“They make you feel like you’re begging them to do what they’re supposed to do,” Justice-Hughes said. In the meantime, her hospital bills are still unpaid and the money she saved to buy a car is gone — the last one was repossessed — making it difficult to get to her part-time job in southern Massachusetts.

They mean to humiliate you, for then you may give up and not take it, leaving more loot for them to steal.

With nearly one of every eight workers nationwide currently collecting benefits, state unemployment systems have been overwhelmed around the country, but problems have been particularly acute in Massachusetts, which a recent report by the Century Foundation think tank found was one of 13 states that didn’t resume providing federal pandemic aid for at least a month after lapsed benefits were extended.

See, that is what I like about the Globe: they really make you think with unbiased, objective sources and experts (did you $ee the li$t of $cum donor organi$ations?).

It’s unclear how many of the valid claims are not being paid, but according to state data, only about a third of first-time payments were made within 21 days in November, and the average duration of initial appeals was 88 days, more than quadruple the time in April.

Often, problems start the moment people attempt to file a claim. The online system will deny a claim if an image of a document is blurry, without saying why, and won’t let claimants enter “zero” for the number of hours worked the previous week. Those who try getting through to the call center, which handles about 16,000 calls a day, might wait on hold for hours, and then get hung up on; if they do reach an actual employee, there’s a good chance that person can’t help. A musician whose claim was suspended out of the blue got a message at 4:59 p.m. one day from the DUA worker who had been helping him via text: “Time to go,” it said. “Shift over. Try again tomorrow.”

It's intentional and it is to discourage you from applying.

Throw in fraud and software glitches and new requirements, and a fresh batch of problems seems to crop up every week.

Imagine!

No problem handing out trillions to banks and filling their coffers with an electronic transaction, though. That's all smooth as $hit!

The sudden halting of weekly benefits and demands for repayment, without prior notification of a problem or a meaningful way to rectify it, is at the heart of a lawsuit filed against the DUA late last year by Community Legal Aid. The lawsuit claims this practice denies workers benefits without due process, in violation of federal and state law and the DUA’s own regulations, and these holds can’t be appealed, Community Legal Aid said, trapping workers in limbo as their debt mounts.

“They can correct a problem with accuracy later,” Leigh Woodruff, litigation director at Community Legal Aid, said of the state. “They cannot correct a problem with promptness later because after months and months without benefits, those families will already be financially devastated in ways that will potentially harm them for the rest of their lives.”

In a memo submitted in opposition to the lawsuit in Worcester Superior Court, the DUA wrote that it was undergoing “an unprecedented period of strain,” noting that, in August, the caseload was 600 percent higher than the year before.

The state’s unemployment system, built by Deloitte, has been under fire since it launched in 2013 riddled with technical issues. (Other state systems built by Deloitte have also been brought to their knees during the pandemic.) Massachusetts is poised to address the issue, with $165 million approved in August to overhaul the system, but that does little to help people struggling now.

Yeah, but that mess has been flushed down the old memory hole, and I take no delight in having to reach back seven years(!!) to tell you that. Even got a Chri$tma$ bonu$ for it, too!

Oh, yeah, they are also the ones who helped screw up the state's website with the Obummer exchange that Biden is reintroducing, as well as the state DCF (so kids could be kidnapped for sex rings with no trail no doubt).

The widespread technical meltdowns around the country led US Senator Ron Wyden, a Democrat from Oregon, to propose spending $500 million to standardize state unemployment systems. The Department of Labor recently announced $100 million in grants to combat unemployment fraud, and the first round of $un million was awarded last month to the first 28 states to apply — though Massachusetts was not among them, yet Massachusetts was one of the states hit the hardest by fraud due to its high benefit payouts, said Andrew Stettner, senior fellow at the Century Foundation. Massachusetts also hasn’t taken actions that other states have to address its “lemon” of a system, he said, such as bringing in private consultants to address the problems. “It is pretty shameful that they can’t get it fixed all these years later,” he said.

They did seven years ago, I'm surprised they haven't blame Russia, and it is BEYOND SHAMEFUL, it is FUCKING CRIMINAL at this STAGE -- as is ALL GOVERNMENT, PRE$$, and $OCIETY for that matter.

The Department of Unemployment Assistance said that identity verification measures to combat fraud may delay payments, but it is finalizing an agreement with a vendor to speed up the process.

OH, GOOD!

State legislators often don’t get calls from their unemployed constituents until they’re desperate.....

Maybe we should flood their f**king offices with calls about everything!

Of course, they record and trace everything so they know who you are.

Better off IGNORING THEM ALTOGETHER!

{@@##$$%%^^&&}

Yeah, was a recipe for failure right from the start, but at lea$t $omeone got rich over it despite the lies from the beginning:

"Report: US wasted billions on cars, buildings in Afghanistan" by KATHY GANNON The Associated Press, March 1, 2021

ISLAMABAD — The United States wasted billions of dollars in war-torn Afghanistan on buildings and vehicles that were either abandoned or destroyed, according to a report released Monday by a US government watchdog.

The agency said it reviewed $7.8 billion spent since 2008 on buildings and vehicles. Only $343.2 million worth of buildings and vehicles “were maintained in good condition,” said the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, or SIGAR, which oversees American taxpayer money spent on the protracted conflict.

The report said that just $1.2 billion of the $7.8 billion went to pay for buildings and vehicles that were used as intended.

“The fact that so many capital assets wound up not used, deteriorated, or abandoned should have been a major cause of concern for the agencies financing these projects,” John F. Sopko, the special inspector general, said in his report.

Interesting timing, to say the lea$t!

The US public is weary of the nearly 20-year-old war and President Biden is reviewing a peace deal his predecessor, Donald Trump, signed with the Taliban a year ago. He must decide whether to withdraw all troops by May 1, as promised in the deal, or stay and possibly prolong the war. Officials say no decision has been made.

Well, why do you think Biden was "elected?"

We are not leaving, and here is the proof straight from the horse's a$$:

Oh, the Taliban are torturing prisoners now as well as increasing attacks on our way out the door, hmmm!

How does that benefit them, and never mind 20 years of such conduct by "allied" force occupiers. That's all down the AL-CIA-Duh, too! (Al-CIA-Duh literally means toilet hole in Arabic).

I imagine we will be sending troops back into Somalia, a place where Obummer dropped three bombs per hour, every day, day after day, in 2016, after Trump withdrew them to Kenya (he did leave covert forces behind but they met an unfortunate end at the hands of a Somali strongman). That's behind the complaints regarding Ethiopia, I'm sure. Then it will be, Lord willing, on to Tunisia and Nigeria to save the women (that's the same stunt they pulled under Obummer, and it was a complete lie) while Zimbabwe is also a lost cause, as is Burundi, so cue the taps on their way to Spain (or rap, if you prefer).

It's enough to make you scream, and that is not all. The u$ual $u$pects are pushing another war on the US despite the claim of neutrality, as Biden sets up a potential false flag by warning Iran to "be careful."

Yup, history is repeating itself, and I wonder who is next to be assassinated?

Maybe the Saudi prince, huh

That would clean things up a bit even if he has to step on some toes, right?

Same with taking out Syria and Iran, which they seem well on their way to doing, what with the war-criminal bombing a little over a month in to the new regime.

Then they will turn to China and the supply chain, with the first gambit being regime change in Myanmar. That is what the Globe is calling for -- which is why there is so much noise in my pre$$ day after day, but I digre$$.....

Meanwhile, Taliban insurgents and the Afghan government have been holding on-again-off-again talks in the Gulf Arab state of Qatar but a deal that could bring peace to Afghanistan after 40 years of relentless war seems far off.

Peace talks in a war pre$$, I love it.

I've stopped taking such things seriously years ago.

Analyst Bill Roggio of the Long War Journal said the findings by SIGAR are not surprising. The reasons for the financial losses include Taliban attacks, corruption, and “throwing money at the problem without considering the implications,” he said.

“It is one thing to build a clinic and school, it is another to operate, maintain, and in many cases defend this infrastructure from Taliban attacks,” said Roggio. "Additionally, the West has wildly underestimated the impact of Afghan corruption and in many cases incompetence. It was always a recipe for failure.”

US agencies responsible for construction didn’t even ask the Afghans if they wanted or needed the buildings they ordered built, or if they had the technical ability to keep them running, Sopko said in his report.

Just get them built so the contract can be awarded!

The waste occurred in violation of “multiple laws stating that US agencies should not construct or procure capital assets until they can show that the benefiting country has the financial and technical resources and capability to use and maintain those assets effectively,” he said.

Torek Farhadi, a former adviser to the Afghan government, said a "donor-knows-best” mentality often prevailed and it routinely meant little to no consultation with the Afghan government on projects.

That would be the puppet government, too.

He said a lack of coordination among the many international donors aided the wastefulness. For example, he said schools were on occasion built alongside other newly constructed schools financed by other donors. The construction went ahead because once the decision was made — contract awarded and money allocated — the school was built regardless of the need, said Farhadi.

The injection of billions of dollars, largely unmonitored, fueled runaway corruption among both Afghans and international contractors, but experts say that despite the waste, the need for assistance is real, given the Afghan governments heavy dependence on international money.

Yeah, let's pour MORE MONEY down a RATHOLE now that those billions have gone into who knows what $wi$$ bank accounts, right?

This is LITERALLY INSANITY over a fucking damnable lie!

The worsening security situation in Afghanistan also greatly impeded the monitoring of projects, with shoddy construction going undetected, said Farhadi, the former Afghan government adviser.

Yup, gotta stay!

“Consult with the locals about their needs and sustainability of the project once the project is complete,” he urged US funding agencies looking to future projects. “Supervise, supervise, supervise project progress and implementation and audit every single layer of expenditure.”

Our country is falling apart, a$$holes!

WTF?!!

Going forward, Roggio said smaller, more manageable projects should be the order of the day. To build big unmanageable projects that Afghanistan has neither the capacity nor technical expertise for after 40 years of relentless war “feeds into the Taliban narrative that the government is corrupt, incompetent, and incapable of providing for the Afghan people,” he said.

Yeah, it doesn't feed the Zioni$t War Pre$$'s narrative so....

turns out all governments are $hit!

Time to light a SIGAR, if you know what I mean.

Clean Plate

Just picking at what the Globe has to offer, and with each passing day I find myself with less of an appetite:

It's 1,000 COVID-19 deaths as Massachusetts has suffered some of the highest death rates in the country from the coronavirus, partly because a wave of infections tore through nursing homes across the state early in the pandemic.

I would just like to note that the wave of infections in nursing homes was because the criminal tyrant, 'er, governor, who was on TV as I was typing, sent sick people there.

Speaking or criminal chief executives (or soon to be anyway):

With the pace of the COVID-19 vaccination rollout lagging the timetable US and Massachusetts officials laid out only weeks ago, some prominent public health leaders are criticizing what they say is poor planning and a lack of urgency by government leaders.

That's government all over and sure doesn't assure one regarding the product; however, I've learned to take the dekes and deceptions of my agenda-pu$hing pre$$ with a grain of salt. They want us to relax and breathes would a boa constrictor.

(below fold)

He is under pressure to act and the move was just the beginning of a saga that is likely to engulf the Senate for the rest of the week, according to the Wa$hington Compo$t, so I will leave that for another day even as it boosts Biden and shows a potential path for his agenda in Congress, which will give him some breathing room when he enters the White House next month, according to Carl Hulse of the New York Times.

He is in line to become Massachusetts Speaker of the House after DeLeo announced his resignation, although there is a dark-horse candidate who could pull an upset.

The Globe says Beacon Hill needs to get its act together and pass the economic development bill on this, the 50th anniversary of the EPA.

The Globe already got mine, but there are a few rules you must abide by (of course) before you’re allowed the privilege of letting them devour your tree at a handful of farms around Massachusetts.

{@@##$$%%^^&&}

The page A2 lead:

"Biden said he would invoke the Defense Production Act to ramp up production of coronavirus vaccines. The law, enacted in 1950, gives the president the power to compel companies to produce and distribute supplies. Biden said Trump’s vaccine distribution efforts were falling far behind what had been promised and said he would ’'move heaven and earth’' to bring an end to the coronavirus pandemic, but he also warned Americans that the worst of the coronavirus assault — ’'maybe the toughest of this entire pandemic’'— remained ahead of them, despite early rounds of vaccinations underway....."

I'm so sick of being threatened with this f**king hoax, even with a possible bioweapon variant out there.

The directly below co-lead:

The Wa$hington Compo$t says FTI Consulting is looking for anomalies among a variety of property deals, and will advise the district attorney on whether the president’s company manipulated the value of certain assets to obtain favorable interest rates and tax breaks.

I don't see any jail time there, do you?

The briefs:

Here is something even more earth-shaking:

"The United States sold the ambassador’s residence in Israel for more than $67 million in July, according to an official Israeli record of the sale that shines new light on a transaction that has been shrouded in secrecy. The State Department confirmed the sale in September but refused to identify the buyer or disclose the sale price of the sprawling beachfront compound in the upscale Tel Aviv suburb of Herzliya. On Tuesday, it said the sale had been “open and transparent.” The Israeli business newspaper Globes has identified the buyer as the U.S. casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, a strong supporter of both President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. A representative of Adelson said the billionaire had no comment. Congressional aides told The Associated Press in September that lawmakers in the House and Senate were looking into whether the sale of the residence complied with regulations. The sale helped to cement Trump’s controversial decision to relocate the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to contested Jerusalem in 2018 and to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. By selling the residence, it would make it harder for future presidents to reverse the decision to move the embassy..... "

Yeah, President-elect Biden has criticized the decision to move the embassy to Jerusalem but says he will not reverse it, and the symbolism regarding Adelson's hold on American politics (cheated out by the unholy and criminal Democratic trinity and Deep $tate) can't be immunized or walked back (btw, the Israelis gave the Palestinians in Gaza their usual holiday gift and did you see who will be his neighbor).

Meanwhile, a vote to legalize abortion in Argentina was balanced on a knife’s edge, according to the New York Times, before they plunged it in.

The New York Times said it more than doubled, but it was the exact same number in 2018.

Look, I'm sorry some of them lost their lives but considering all the death they have brought with their own lies, the self-serving whining for an occupational hazard has grown lame

{@@##$$%%^^&&}

Page A4 leads with the Globe's Political Notebook:

The Wa$hington Compo$t says he did not single out any Republican leaders by name, but Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell, Republican of Kentucky, appeared to be among those he was targeting.

It's Biden’s, not Trump’s.

Who would want to ruin Christmas in such a way?

Seasonal flu, 'er, COVID is its first big test as safety net, according to the New York Times, despite being around the past ten years during cold a flu season.

COVID-19 has never been isolated, folks, and now we are told it has mutated like all coronaviruses.

I'm sick of the slop they constantly serve out these days, sorry.

The article by Katie Benner of the New York Times, says:

"The orchestrated farewell was a reflection of how Barr navigated his tenure running a Justice Department for a president who viewed it as hostile toward him, but Barr also showed flashes of autonomy at the end of his tenure. His reversal on voter fraud broke from the president. He said he saw no need for a special counsel to investigate President-elect Joe Biden’s son Hunter as Trump clamored for one, and Barr even acknowledged that some of his suspicions about the Obama administration’s examination of Russian election interference were misguided. Historians will debate whether Barr, 70, was trying to preserve his reputation. Already a polarizing figure, he had faced a new groundswell of criticism in recent weeks for easing restrictions on election-related investigations as Trump ramped up his complaints about voting irregularities and for ensuring that the department’s examination of the Russia investigation continues into the Biden administration. Barr’s allies say he simply followed his instincts, honed by his maximalist view of executive power, and was untroubled by perceptions that he was serving Trump’s personal agenda. Either way, an examination of Barr’s tenure, based on interviews with allies, critics, current and former law enforcement officials, and academics shows that no matter what Barr says or does, Trump will ultimately define his legacy as attorney general....."

He has been left targeting voting by mail as a federal judge in Arizona blasted his fraud claim and the high court all but ended his long-shot legal efforts to overturn election, according to Adam Liptak of the The New York Times. He expected to prevail after rushing the confirmation of Justice Amy Coney Barrett in October, but was roundly rejected by all but Thomas and Alito.

They ruled against him in Wisconsin and in Alaska and basically killed his chances even after thousands of supporters returned to Washington for rallies to back his desperate efforts to subvert the election that he lost to Joe Biden and cheered for him as he flew overhead on his way out of town for the Army-Navy football game -- an event that was reminiscent of cross burnings!!

The long-shot effort is in the hands of Pence after the electoral college vote from an election that was as clean as a whistle (we all knew who was going to win Massachusetts) and that affirmed Biden as victor with leading Republicans calling him president-elect for the first time, essentially abandoning Trump’s assault on the outcome after the electoral college vote in a bid to counter Trump’s attempts to overturn the results with false claims that the election results are somehow in doubt.

So what is Trump’s endgame, or does he just retire to Mar-a-Lago?

The intrigue borders on the ridiculous, as he has plenty of cash in the bank. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up back on TV with some high-profile gig or monument erected to himself after weighing naming an election conspiracy theorist as a special counsel (a consideration that sent shock waves through the president’s circle). He's already channeling Grover Cleveland, according to theWa$hington Compo$t, in a long-shot effort to reverse Biden’s victory and block the transition but then again, he is no Lincoln, either.

The Globe says Trump attorneys must face disciplinary action for the baseless lawsuits sabotaging Americans’ faith in the election system and in democracy itself (remember Conyers thundering at Rove during Attorneygate?) as Joe Kennedy delivered his farewell speech on House floor and hopes to follow in his granduncle's footsteps and fill those shoes and maybe even run for president someday -- something that Louisiana congressman-elect Luke Letlow will never be able to do, and oddly enough, the newly elected N.H. Speaker of the House died unexpectedly from, you guessed it, COVID-19.

The Wa$hington Compo$t says "the United States has invested billions of dollars in Somalia over the past decade, in part to build and train Danab, the only effective, apolitical fighting unit in the country’s war against Al Qaeda-affiliated Al Shabab. Now, with hundreds of the US troops who trained them leaving Somalia under orders from the Trump administration, current and former Danab officers are fearful that diminished American supervision will leave the elite division vulnerable to political interference from Somalia’s government, which is embroiled in a bitterly disputed election scheduled for February. Somalia continues to weather thousands of Al Shabab attacks big and small every year. While the US military ramped up a drone campaign in recent years — which it says will continue despite troops being ’'repositioned’' to neighboring Kenya and Djibouti and allegations that the campaign has killed dozens of civilians — Al Shabab still controls the majority of Somalia’s rural interior and runs an extensive tax racket that keeps it well funded....."

For those not in the know, the proper spelling and pronunciation is Al-CIA-Duh and Al-CIA-Bob.

The AP says the new accusations are a sign of Putin’s despair (ha-ha-ha), and they claim there was a secret Russian spy unit with expertise in poisonous substances trailing him and near when he was poisoned, with one official even confessing to a plot to poison him, according to Anton Troianovski of the New York Times, a top associate of Navalny in what echoes the Skripal fiasco from a few years back.

"The first reported US case of the COVID-19 variant that’s been seen in the United Kingdom has been discovered in Colorado, Governor Jared Polis said Tuesday. It was found in a man in his 20s who is in isolation near Denver and has no travel history, state health officials said. Scientists in the United Kingdom believe the variant is more contagious than previous strains of SARS-CoV-2. The vaccines being given now are thought to be effective against the variant, Colorado officials said. Public health officials are investigating other potential cases and tracing contacts to gauge the spread of the variant in Colorado. “There is a lot we don’t know . . . but scientists in the United Kingdom are warning the world that it is significantly more contagious,” Polis noted. “The health and safety of Coloradans is our top priority.” Polis and state health officials were expected to address the public Wednesday. The discovery of the variant lead the CDC to issue new rules on Christmas Day for travelers arriving from the United Kingdom, requiring them to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test."

As per the script, and no word on weather it is more deadly or just season flu.

Nevertheless, the travel restrictions are being implemented.

"The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention predicts the United States will see 400,000 coronavirus deaths by Jan. 20, the day President Trump is to leave office. The country surpassed 100,000 deaths in May and 200,000 four months later. It passed 300,000 in three months, and 400,000 looks set to take just one month, the CDC determined, using a collection of mathematical models. The United States has one of the highest mortality ratios, behind only Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom. The predicted pace would mean an additional 65,000 deaths in coming weeks. The numbers are a reminder of the increasing speed with which the virus claims lives, underscoring the urgency of vaccination efforts. Weekly deaths are predicted to rise through Jan. 16, even though national case numbers have been falling for two weeks amid patchy holiday reporting....."

Well, there were supposed to be 2 MILLION dead Americans by now according to the damn models that shut us down, and only 6% of those deaths are COVID specific.

"The coronavirus pandemic might not be the ’'big one’' that experts have long feared, a World Health Organization official warned Tuesday during the global health agency’s last virtual media briefing of the year. Since the first reports of the novel coronavirus began circulating nearly a year ago, the WHO has repeatedly warned that the world must prepare for even deadlier pandemics in the future. ’'This pandemic has been very severe,’' WHO emergencies chief Mark Ryan said. ’'It has affected every corner of this planet, but this is not necessarily the big one.’' The coronavirus, he said, should serve as a ’'wake-up call.’' ’'These threatwill continue,’' he said. ’'One thing we need to take from this pandemic, with all of the tragedy and loss, is we need to get our act together. We need to honor those we’ve lost by getting better at what we do every day.’' After the novel coronavirus emerged in China late last year, 2020 is coming to an end amid the rollout of new coronavirus vaccines. Case numbers are rising in some places, public health experts are warning about a highly transmissible variant of the virus first detected in the United Kingdom in September and since documented in more than 20 countries. While the variant does not appear to be more deadly or vaccine-resistant, it does transmit faster and is probably fueling outbreaks from England to South Africa. On Tuesday, German health officials said they detected a case of the UK variant dating back as early as November. An elderly coronavirus patient who had the variant ultimately died of the virus. The patient’s daughter had returned from Britain in mid-November, and the man’s wife was also infected with COVID-19, the illness the novel coronavirus can cause, but she survived, Agence France-Presse reported. Germany is one of several countries to temporarily bar travelers from the United Kingdom to prevent the variant’s spread. Much of England is under a lockdown. India on Tuesday confirmed its first cases of the UK variant after finding it in six people who had recently arrived from Britain. Indian Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri told reporters Tuesday that the country probably would issue a temporary ban on flights from the United Kingdom as a result. Countries across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East have documented cases of the fast-spreading form of the virus. Canada on Saturday was the first to report it in North America. It is probably already circulating undetected in the United States, according to public health experts. The United States has the world’s highest count of coronavirus infections and fatalities (Washington Post)."

Is it not interesting and somewhat coincidental that the variant is showing up where they are vaccinating first?

What if the VARIANT is IN the VACCINE?!

I'll tell you this, it wouldn't be the first time.

Btw, Russia is no help:

"After months of questions over the true scale of the coronavirus pandemic in Russia and the efficacy of a Russian-developed vaccine, the state statistical agency in Moscow has announced new figures indicating that the death toll from COVID-19 is more than three times as high as officially reported. Russia has reported more than 3 million cases of infection, making it the world’s fourth-hardest-hit country, but only 55,827 deaths, fewer than in seven other countries. A demographer at a government agency who questioned the official fatality figures, dismissing them as far too low, was fired over the summer. New data issued Monday by Rosstat, the state statistics agency, however, indicated that the demographer was right and the real number of fatalities is far higher than previously reported. The agency reported that the number of deaths between January and November was 229,732 higher than over the same period last year, an increase that a senior official blamed largely on the coronavirus. Tatyana Golikova, a deputy prime minister leading Russia’s efforts to combat the pandemic, told a government briefing Monday that more than 81 percent of the increased number of deaths in 2020 was “due to COVID,” which would mean that the virus had killed more than 186,000 Russians so far this year. This is still far fewer than the more than 334,000 deaths caused by COVID-19 in the United States but means that Russia has suffered more fatalities as a result of the pandemic than European countries like Italy, France, and Britain, whose poor record has been regularly cited by Russian state media as proof of Russia’s relative triumph. As of Tuesday afternoon, the webpage giving Rosstat’s new data was inaccessible. The gap between the official death rate and the real one is largely explained by Russia’s practice of recording a death as coronavirus-related only in cases where an autopsy has confirmed the coronavirus as the main cause. Critics say this has allowed authorities to massage the numbers. Russia in August became the first country to register a coronavirus vaccine, but a recent survey found that only 38 percent of Russians intend to get vaccinated (New York Times)."

The exact opposite is the truth, the numbers have been vastly overinflated, and the New York Times projection regarding the numbers is sickening.

That is when the Spanish flu got rolling 100 years ago, AFTER the VACCINATIONS!!
