Staying Calm and Cooling Down

"Calm, maker of a meditation, sleep, and relaxation app, doubled its valuation to $2 billion after raising capital from existing backers including Lightspeed Venture Partners, TPG, and Insight Partners. “With companies now taking mental well-being at work seriously, there’s so much opportunity, and we raised capital to be able to put the foot down on the gas even more,” co-founder and co-chief executive Alex Tew said in an interview with Bloomberg. Tew said there’s been an ’'acute’' response from corporations seeking to alleviate anxiety and depression during the COVID-19 pandemic. American Express cardholders in the United States and certain other countries, along with more than 12 million members covered by health care provider Kaiser Permanente, currently have access to Calm at no additional cost."

They also suggest taking out the headphones and turning off the radio (it's gotten so bad I can't even listen to the sports guys anymore).

"As the planet warms faster, scientists study controversial ways to lower temperatures" by David Abel Globe Staff, January 17, 2021

As the planet continues to warm at an accelerating rate, scientists are looking into a potential insurance policy, a radical way of curbing climate change by altering the climate system itself.

A team at Harvard University this summer plans to conduct the first of a series of highly controversial tests of what’s known as solar geoengineering, a way to reduce global warming by spreading particles in the atmosphere to reflect sunlight back into space.

It's one lie after another, even regarding the weather, and they have been doing this for years.

Could be coal ash, could be who knows what!!

It's in your face and blinding like the sun, folks.

No wonder there have been so many cloudy days lately.

If all goes well, the team later this year plans for the first time to inject a small amount of calcium carbonate — a common substance found in rocks — into the atmosphere to better understand how the chemical compound might be used to moderate temperatures on the ground.

Long considered too risky, solar geoengineering is now being more seriously considered as the threat of climate change grows more dire, but critics say such a test would set a dangerous precedent and open a door to more radical experiments that could ultimately cause grave harm to the planet.

That is where the turn-in came, and it's one existential crisis after another keeping the public on eggshells as the ruling cla$$ agenda is advanced though their f**king corporate mouthpiece here.

MIT researchers, including former energy secretary Ernest Moniz, are urging the incoming Biden administration to spend billions of dollars over the next decade to study a range of technologies that use machines to extract carbon from the air or enable trees and rocks to absorb greenhouse gases more rapidly, but those technologies, at least in their current incarnations, remain highly expensive and unlikely to present a timely or practical solution to more than a century of accumulated greenhouse gases.

“Solar geoengineering has potentially huge benefits to humanity, especially the most vulnerable,” said David Keith, a professor of public policy at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and one of the leaders of the project. “No one doubts that it’s possible to cool the atmosphere with aerosols.”

What other reactions might they be having high above us, and what effect will it have on food production?

Beyond that, the previous paragraph seems to point to a boondoggle but I suspect that is just to get you to exhale and see this as something they might be doing in the future, not now. That's my sense of it after reading this crap for so many years.

As evidence, scientists point to the cooling that occurred after the 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines released an estimated 20 million tons of sulfur dioxide and ash particles into the stratosphere, which cooled the planet by nearly 1 degree Fahrenheit over the next two years, but Keith and other scientists say they’re well aware of the potential problems of trying to cool the atmosphere in such a fashion. Solar geoengineering, they also note, shouldn’t absolve governments from cutting emissions, as reflecting more sunlight into space doesn’t address the underlying problems of increased amounts of carbon in the atmosphere. For example, the oceans would continue to absorb carbon and become more acidic if emissions aren’t reduced, threatening everything from coral to shellfish.

Injecting large amounts of particles into the atmosphere could also cause great damage to the planet, breaching holes in the ozone layer and increasing the incidence of skin cancer; changing weather patterns in ways that could cause droughts in some places and flooding elsewhere; and potentially even altering the color of the sky.

So THAT explains the STRANGE COLOR of the SKY in the mornings when I go get my paper!

Notice how the sick global managers also like to INJECT things?

Their knee-jerk reaction is jab it or kill or both.

They would also have another reason to lock you inside, thus depriving you of vital vitamin D from the sun and causing illness they will then diagnose as the CV variant.

To top it all off, they could blame the usual suspect (meanwhile, beneath the waves....).

Frank Keutsch, a professor of engineering and atmospheric sciences at Harvard who serves as principal investigator of the project, known as SCoPEx, or the Stratospheric Controlled Perturbation Experiment, aand Keith acknowledged there are reasonable concerns about the wisdom and efficacy of solar geoengineering but that it’s incumbent on scientists to determine whether the pros outweigh the cons.

They can't know that, and won't be able to undo the damage.

It's also all based on a damn agenda-pushing lie because that is all I am getting in the pure propaganda that passes for a paper these days.

“I am convinced that doing limited research on stratospheric geoengineering is needed,” Keutsch said, adding that policymakers must still make cutting emissions their priority. “Do I know that I am right? The answer is no, but I would argue nobody can know that at the moment. I see our role as providing facts, not deciding on any form of use.”

They also acknowledged that their research methods should be transparent and monitored closely, given the potential impact beyond national borders.

Won't be hiding the decline this time?

Creating an oversight model is why Shuchi Talati, a scholar who studies solar geoengineering at American University, decided to join SCoPEx’s advisory board. “Because this is a technology that can affect every individual in the world, there has to be international and national mechanisms ensuring transparency and public participation,” she said.

More f**king models in place of reality.

For the initial test of SCoPEx, which will determine whether the scientists can effectively steer a balloon in the stratosphere, the board has been reviewing whether it complies with Swedish laws before they approve the flight, Talati said.

For the more controversial test that would involve dispersing particles, there will be greater input from the public, financial audits, and more legal reviews before approval, she said.

“As we cross the threshold into physical experimentation, it’s vital that we ensure this research is done responsibly,” Talati said.

UGH!

Be it the vaccine or the weather, they view us as no more than SUBJECTS of an EXPERIMENT!

Also see:

I'm told it's “like the film ‘Groundhog Day,’ and as we continue to generate carbon pollution, we expect the planet to warm up, and that’s precisely what we’re seeing.”

That's why the migrants in Bosnia are lighting fires to stay warm.

Now fly away, little birdie, fly, fly, fly.

How long can you hold your breath?

"EPA finds toxic compounds in mosquito spray used in Mass.; maker will change packaging" by Jeremy C. Fox Globe Correspondent, January 14, 2021

The Environmental Protection Agency has acknowledged that a controversial pesticide used to kill mosquitoes in Massachusetts contains toxic chemicals that leach into the product from its container, and the manufacturer has agreed to change its packaging, officials said Thursday.

The state Department of Environmental Protection began testing the pesticide, known as Anvil 10+10, in the fall, after earlier testing by a Washington advocacy group found it contained elevated levels of toxic compounds known as PFAS. The federal EPA said separately it would conduct its own testing.

The so-called “forever chemicals,” which are present in a variety of commercial products and never fully degrade, have been linked to cancer, low infant birth weight, and a range of diseases.

So WHAT ARE THEY REALLY DUMPING ON US in the name of fighting mosquitoes?

Think about it, folks.

They have GENETICALLY MODIFIED the PLANTS and ANIMALS -- and the mRNA VACCINES mean WE ARE NEXT!

That is how sick are our global overlords and their pre$$titute pimps.

The EPA said Thursday it had determined that fluorinated “containers that are used to store and transport a mosquito control pesticide product contain PFAS compounds that are leaching into the pesticide product.” It did not give details on the level of the compounds found in the pesticide.

That is the dumbing down agent they want us to gargle to protect our teeth, and it is derived from nuclear waste if you can believe it.

All of a sudden, everything and everyone around me makes sense.

Clarke, the Illinois-based manufacturer of Anvil 10 + 10, said in a separate statement that it had investigated and found none of the toxic chemicals in its products or the raw materials used to make them. The company has stopped “all sales and shipments to customers of Anvil 10+10 packaged in plastic containers” and is committed to using only PFAS-free plastic in the future, it said.

“Fluorinated packaging is widely used by the agricultural industry for finished goods, including pesticides,” the company said. “The potential for PFAS chemistry from the fluorinated packaging to leach into finished goods was unknown to Clarke.”

Is that why the food smells and tastes strange?

If they investigates and found no toxic chemicals, why did they stop all sales and shipments and changing the packaging?

The EPA is still early in its investigation of Anvil 10+10 and has requested information from the company that fluorinates the plastic containers used by Clarke and other pesticide manufacturers, it said.

Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility, the advocacy group that initially tested the pesticide samples, prompting the state’s investigation, said in a statement Thursday that the EPA’s announcement “raises big new public health concerns.”

“EPA’s discovery has opened a Pandora’s Box of health risks,” Kyla Bennett, the organization’s science policy director, who led the initial testing of the pesticide, said in the statement. “Shipping containers may be a significant source of PFAS exposure through the entire U.S. agricultural sector.”

Another excuse to halt food production and shipment on the way Great Famine and Biden/Harris Genocide.

An unknown number of other products may be shipped in similarly contaminated containers, and untold acres of land may have been sprayed with pesticides containing PFAS, the organization said. It estimates that nearly 30 states, including Massachusetts, use Anvil 10+10 for aerial mosquito spraying.

That is the EXCUSE they are using to SPRAY POISONOUS GARBAGE ON US as they protect us from the just as invisible CV and insist on toxic vaccines being injected into our bodies.

Now for the rest of today's spew:

The ones the New York Times claims to have talked to say they "answered the call of their president," and Biden has already selected who will prosecute them (informing is your civic duty) despite the road rage that could land you in detox.

That includes the police chief in New Hampshire as far-right groups make plans for protests and assaults before and after Inauguration Day, according to the Wa$hington Compo$t and Rita Katz, the executive director of SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors extremist groups and their use of social media to inspire and organize adherents, with the ADL also in on the false flag set ups!

Republicans are also closing ranks against Trump so they can forestall a messy internal leadership fight, and even the Girl Scouts have cut him loose. There is talk of impeaching Biden; however, she better be careful after what happened to Trump's doctor and as Trump struggles to find lawyers as his impeachment trial nears (not even Dershowitz will defend him and it is too late to make a deal).

Of course, this guy won't need one, what with his father being a Democrat AND New York judge (I'm sorry, the Globe took the photo of Mr. Aaron Mostofsky and Mr. Kevin Seefried down). It's mission accomplished, and with the Trump era ending, we don’t need to heal, reconcile, or unite, but just tolerate each other.

Going to have to smoke 'em out of their holes, as someone once said, as the A-list is back!

With the cho$en tribe ruling from above, and it being the lone supremacy you are not allowed to cite.

It's handfuls, and most are agent provocateurs and antifas.

Speak of the devil:

The New York Times is concerned, and WhereTF is his mask?

"Israeli authorities on Sunday advanced plans to build nearly 800 homes in West Bank settlements, in a last-minute surge of approvals before the friendly Trump administration leaves office later this week. COGAT, the Israeli defense body that authorizes settlement construction, confirmed the approvals, which drew swift condemnations from the Palestinians. The anti-settlement monitoring group Peace Now said that over 90% of the homes lay deep inside the West Bank, which the Palestinians seek as the heartland of a future independent state, and over 200 homes were located in unauthorized outposts that the government had decided to legalize. Israel has stepped up settlement construction during President Donald Trump’s term....."

The Globe's web version was more concerned with the deal Israel has struck with Pfizer to share vast troves of medical data with the international drug giant in exchange for the continued flow of its hard-to-get vaccine after sprinting ahead in the race to inoculate its population against the coronavirus.

That's what happens when you overthrow a government and allow Israel into your country against the wishes of its people.

HMMMMM!

Per Trump's order, and Biden will quickly be reversing that order and adding troops because of the fear in Kabul.

Good luck, Joe Biden, as the US will capitulate without you ever knowing it.

I'm sorry, but I can simply no longer read the outright lies of the Wa$hington Compo$t, and maybe Trump can pardon them en masse:

"Prospect of pardons in final days fuels market to buy access to Trump" by Michael S. Schmidt and Kenneth P. Vogel New York Times, January 17, 2021

As President Trump prepares to leave office in days, a lucrative market for pardons is coming to a head, with some of his allies collecting fees from wealthy felons or their associates to push the White House for clemency, according to documents and interviews with more than three dozen lobbyists and lawyers.

The brisk market for pardons reflects the access peddling that has defined Trump’s presidency as well as his unorthodox approach to exercising unchecked presidential clemency powers. Pardons and commutations are intended to show mercy to deserving recipients, but Trump has used many of them to reward personal or political allies.

One lobbyist, Brett Tolman, a former federal prosecutor who has been advising the White House on pardons and commutations, has monetized his clemency work, collecting tens of thousands of dollars, and possibly more, in recent weeks to lobby the White House for clemency for the son of a former Arkansas senator; the founder of the notorious online drug marketplace Silk Road; and a New York City socialite who pleaded guilty in a fraud scheme, and a onetime top adviser to the Trump campaign was paid $50,000 to help seek a pardon for John Kiriakou, a former CIA officer convicted of illegally disclosing classified information, and agreed to a $50,000 bonus if the president granted it, according to a copy of an agreement, and Kiriakou was separately told that Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s personal lawyer, could help him secure a pardon for $2 million.

Trump has also discussed issuing preemptive pardons to his children, his son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, and Giuliani.

There are few historical parallels. Perhaps the closest occurred in the final hours of Bill Clinton’s administration when he issued 170 pardons and commutations, some of which went to people who paid six-figure sums to his family and associates, but even Clinton, who was seen as flouting protocols, mostly rewarded people who had gone through an intensive Justice Department review process intended to identify and vet the most deserving recipients from among thousands of clemency applications.

The pre$$ constantly wipes the Clinton Crime Family's a$$!

Trump has shunned that process more than any recent president, creating an ad hoc system in the White House that Kushner has had significant influence over, and has relied on input from an informal network of outside advisers, including Tolman. That system favors pardon-seekers who have connections to Trump or his team, or who pay someone who does, said pardon lawyers who have worked for years through the Justice Department system.

When are charges brought?

Tolman, who did not respond to requests for comment, is a former US attorney in Utah appointed by President George W. Bush. He was a leading supporter of legislation overhauling sentencing laws championed by Trump and Kushner.....

I hope Trump pardons Assange on his way out, and I'm sorry, folks, but I gotta go to the bathroom:

"Local; The $3,000-a-month toilet for the Ivanka Trump/Jared Kushner Secret Service detail" by
Peter Jamison, Carol D. Leonnig and Paul Schwartzman  Washington Post, Jan. 14, 2021

Many U.S. Secret Service agents have stood guard in Washington’s elite Kalorama neighborhood, home over the years to Cabinet secretaries and former presidents. Those agents have had to worry about death threats, secure perimeters and suspicious strangers, but with the arrival of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, they had a new worry: finding a toilet.

Instructed not to use any of the half-dozen bathrooms inside the couple’s house, the Secret Service detail assigned to President Trump’s daughter and son-in-law spent months searching for a reliable restroom to use on the job, according to neighbors and law enforcement officials. After resorting to a porta-potty, as well as bathrooms at the nearby home of former president Barack Obama and the not-so-nearby residence of Vice President Pence, the agents finally found a toilet to call their own.

At this point in the article my reaction was what is this shit -- literally -- other than a cheap WaCompo shot as they exit the can.

Don't get me wrong, I in no way have sympathy for the Jewi$h $upremaci$t Kushner; however, one cannot help but notice the low blow being presented as serious journalism.

My pre$$ is LITERALLY a SHIT SHEET!

The White House asked to borrow a van Gogh. The Guggenheim offered a gold toilet instead, but it came at a cost to U.S. taxpayers. Since September 2017, the federal government has been spending $3,000 a month — more than $100,000 to date — to rent a basement studio, with a bathroom, from a neighbor of the Kushner family.

Given all the corruption in government, THIS is what the WaCompo flushed out?

A White House spokesperson denied that Trump and Kushner restricted agents from their 5,000-square-foot home, with its six bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms, and asserted that it was the Secret Service’s decision not to allow the protective detail inside. That account is disputed by a law enforcement official familiar with the situation, who said the agents were kept out at the family’s request.

A spokeswoman for the Secret Service initially declined to comment, writing in an email that the agency “does not discuss the means, methods or resources utilized to carry out our protective mission,” but on Thursday evening, eight hours after this story appeared online, she sent a second email with a new statement, saying that the Secret Service tries to have minimal impact on households it protects. “In accordance with this practice, Secret Service personnel do not request access to the facilities at private residences," she wrote. "Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner have not denied Secret Service personnel access to their home to include use of the restroom.”

Why was that last part flushed from print?

Arrangements that allow for some distance between Secret Service agents and those they guard are not unusual, particularly when the agency’s “means, methods or resources” involve indoor plumbing. The people who qualify for such protection often occupy expensive, sprawling properties where a detail can use a garage, pool house or other outbuilding as a command post, break room and bathroom.

The episode in Kalorama is unusual because of the lengths to which the agents’ exile took them. In addition to their reliance on the restrooms used by fellow agents assigned to the Obamas and Pences, the detail occasionally popped into neighborhood businesses to avail themselves of the facilities.

“It’s the first time I ever heard of a Secret Service detail having to go to these extremes to find a bathroom,” said one law enforcement official familiar with the situation.

The agents’ bizarre odyssey played out in full view of a wealthy enclave in Northwest Washington, where many deplore Trump’s presidency and have expressed frustration over what they view as the Kushner family’s disregard for their neighbors. The community also includes multiple embassies and a house owned by Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon and owner of The Washington Post.

Ah, a neighborhood where $hit don't stink!

The blockade of precious street parking spaces by the Trump/Kushner Secret Service detail roiled the neighborhood early in 2017. The porta-potty erected for agents further enraged residents unaccustomed to such sights on stately Tracy Place NW. As the Trump administration enters its final days with the president impeached a second time for inciting a deadly attack on the Capitol, eyes in Kalorama are peeled for the sight of moving trucks.

“They sort of came in with the attitude, like, ‘We are royalty,’” Dianne Bruce, who until recently lived across the street, said of Kushner and Trump. “When they put the porta-potty right outside on the sidewalk we weren’t allowed to walk on, that was when people in the neighborhood said, ‘That’s really not acceptable.’”

Bruce said she felt sympathy for the family’s protective detail as she watched agents trying to balance the call of duty with nature’s call.

“These poor people,” she remembers thinking when the porta-potty was hauled away.

Two law enforcement officials said the bathrooms inside the Trump/Kushner home were declared off-limits to the people protecting them from the beginning. One official did not know the reason for this restriction, while the other said it was instigated by the couple. Both spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of security arrangements for the president’s family.

That means the shit has sat in their toilet for four years?

White House spokesman Judd Deere denied that Trump and Kushner ever requested that their Secret Service detail not use the bathrooms in their home.

“When discussions regarding protecting their home were initially had in 2017, Ivanka and Jared made clear that their home would always be open to the incredible men and women on their detail. It was only after a decision by the [Secret Service] was made that their detail sought other accommodations,” Deere wrote in an email. “The Kushners have a tremendous amount of respect for the servicemen and women on their detail and for the United States Secret Service as a whole. Their home will always be open to them and they have immense gratitude for their service over the last four years.”

Now take it outside!

The porta-potty was the agency’s initial solution to the protective detail’s dilemma, but it was removed in the face of the neighborhood’s protests. After that, according to the law enforcement officials, the agents began using a bathroom in a garage at the Obamas’ house, which the former president’s protective detail had turned into a command post. The Obamas did not use the garage, so the extra traffic to and from the command post caused no problem, yet this solution, too, was short-lived after a Secret Service supervisor from the Trump/Kushner detail left an unpleasant mess in the Obama bathroom at some point before the fall of 2017, according to a person briefed on the event. That prompted the leaders of the Obama detail to ban the agents up the street from ever returning.

The agents assigned to the president’s daughter and son-in-law began driving a mile to Pence’s home at the Naval Observatory, where they were allowed to use a bathroom in a stand-alone guard station. If they didn’t have time for that excursion, the law enforcement officials said, they relied on the hospitality of nearby restaurants.

So when the Secret Service knocked on the door of Kay Kendall in September 2017, she was not surprised to learn why.

I'm sorry, readers, but I couldn't take the stench anymore.

I leave the web version door open so the room can air out:

Secret Service agents typically seek low-profile location for their command post and restroom, said Steve Atkiss, who served as special assistant for operations to former president George W. Bush and chief of staff at U.S. Customs and Border Protection. For example, former White House chief of staff Andy Card had a trailer set up for his protective detail at the end of his block in Virginia, Atkiss recalled. At the Bush family compound in Kennebunkport, Maine, a building was devoted to the security details of two former presidents and their families, he said. “I’ve seen it accomplished 1,000 different ways,” Atkiss said. “They don’t want to be in their personal space.”

Because of what they might see?

In Kalorama, the Kushner/Trump agents were pleased with their new digs, the law enforcement officials said. The studio had plenty of natural light. Some considered it akin to a well-heeled lawyer’s study. Most importantly, it opened on a tidy bathroom. “It’s been no big deal,” Moffett said. “They have been very nice to our grandchildren.”

Trump’s children brought Secret Service money to the family business with their visits, records show The Secret Service has repeatedly incurred serious costs from providing protection to President Trump’s children. In October, The Post reported that Ivanka Trump, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. had enriched their family’s business, as the Trump Organization charged the federal government at least $238,000 for agents’ lodgings when the trio and their families visited Trump properties. Trump says he lost billions of dollars being president instead of running his business, which his sons have operated the past four years.

They should just leave them on their own with no protection.

Deere declined to comment on how long Trump and Kushner plan to stay in Kalorama after President Trump leaves office next week.

Some have mixed feelings about the couple’s presence in the neighborhood. Mario Castillo, a Republican lobbyist who lives on Obama’s block, said he faults Kushner and Trump for their roles in the Trump administration but has never had problems with them as neighbors. He said he once encountered Kushner on the sidewalk on a Sunday morning. The president’s son-in-law was dressed in a suit with no tie. “We stared at each other and I said, 'Hello neighbor,” Castillo recalled, “and he said, ‘Are the children making too much noise?’”

Others are looking forward to their exit.

“I’ll be very happy to see them go,” said Marti Robinson, a trial attorney who lives across the street and was an Obama-appointed member of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. “I want my nice, quiet neighborhood back."

On a recent Tuesday, some quiet seemed to have returned. There was no sign of activity at the Kushner family’s residence, with its gray exterior shutters and white walls of brick. Black SUVs were parked in front. A door to one of those SUVs opened, revealing what was, for the moment, the street’s only sign of life: A man wearing a dark suit, badge and crimson tie. He walked purposefully across the street, arms straight at his sides, and disappeared behind the house whose basement is being rented by the U.S. government. Five minutes later, he reemerged, recrossed the street, and stepped back into his vehicle.

That is the Wa$hington Compo$t and Boston Globe literally telling them to eat shit, and it must have been something they ate.

That also means sex traffickers will be immune from prosecution, even as new video shows what the Capitol rioters did when they got inside Senate chamber where, after leading Senate Republicans to object to Biden’s win, Hawley and Cruz face a backlash and calls to resign.

"The National Security Agency is moving forward with hiring a Trump administration loyalist, the agency said on Sunday, after the acting defense secretary ordered he be made the spy agency’s top lawyer. Christopher C. Miller, the acting defense secretary, gave Gen. Paul M. Nakasone, the spy agency’s director, until 6 p.m. on Saturday to install Michael Ellis as its general counsel. The deadline came and went with the National Security Agency remaining silent, but the agency said in a statement on Sunday that “Ellis accepted his final job offer yesterday afternoon. N.S.A. is moving forward with his employment.” He has not been formally sworn in, and it is not clear when that would happen. Ellis has been accused of having a hand in one of the more contentious legal decisions the Trump administration made: the attempt to stop John R. Here is another test for Biden:

"Migrant caravan, now in Guatemala, could pose early test for Biden" by Austin Ramzy New York Times, January 17, 2021

Thousands of migrants from Honduras have entered Guatemala and plan to continue north to the United States, potentially posing an early test of the immigration policies of President-elect Joe Biden, who has pledged to ease the Trump administration’s restrictions on asylum.

After a few hundred people were able to push past the border police Friday, thousands more followed into Guatemala on Saturday. Officials have said that between 7,000 and 9,000 people entered the country, many bypassing coronavirus checks.

Like so many things being put in motion a week out from Biden, and it will be a never-ending surge for four years that will ensconce one-party Democrat rule forever.

The government of Guatemala said that it “regrets this violation of national sovereignty and calls on Central American governments to take actions to avoid putting their inhabitants, as well as the communities through which these people pass, at risk in the face of the pandemic.”

The migrants are expected to face continued obstacles along their route. Guatemalan authorities set up checkpoints, blocked parts of the caravan not far from where it entered Guatemala, and could begin returning some of the migrants home by bus, the Associated Press reported.

Mexican authorities have posted additional troops and immigration officers along the country’s southern border in anticipation of the caravan.

“In our national territory, we have to guarantee orderly, safe, and regular migration, with respect for human rights and humanitarian policies,” said Francisco Garduño Yáñez, head of Mexico’s National Immigration Institute, in a statement Friday.

They will pardon drug-traffickers on their way through.

Members of the group told reporters they were driven to escape crime, poverty, and homelessness exacerbated by the pandemic and two hurricanes late last year.....
