Kerry and the Kids

For this wealthy, pompous, bought-off elitist and agenda-pushing looter to be saying hardship leads to opportunity, well, I guess it does in his case.

The hardship is yours, kids; the opportunity is his:
Congressional War Contractors

Sort of explains the s*** political fooleys as well as his white-flag surrender in 2004 (we would have had the same "change" then as now).

"Hardship leads to opportunity, students told; Kerry delivers address at UMass-Boston" by Peter Schworm, Globe Staff | May 30, 2009

Exhorting graduates at the University of Massachusetts Boston to look beyond the current "time of crisis" and work for a better future, Senator John F. Kerry called on students to put their youthful idealism toward contemporary priorities such as climate change and clean energy.

Pffffft!

What was your carbon footprint getting there, senator (never mind the below-average temperatures, etc, etc)?

And how about shutting down that WAR MACHINE -- the BIGGEST FART-MISTER GOING?

Senator?

Speaking at commencement ceremonies yesterday morning at the Columbia Point campus, Kerry urged students not to give in to despair or trammel their ambitions at a moment of economic uncertainty. Like their parents before them, they should turn crisis into opportunity, he said.

I HATE that kind of TALK and here is why:

Rice: 9/11 an “enormous opportunity”

Rumsfeld: "Why Not another 911"

Of course, they are CONCERNED ABOUT PEOPLE, not an agenda!

"Each generation of Americans has attempted the impossible, and they have succeeded," he told an audience of some 10,000. "One generation plants the tree, the next gets the shade. "We are all called to the legwork of democracy," he added....

You just feel a breeze go by, kiddo?

In a light-hearted speech sprinkled with quips....

See:
Kerry's Colossal Insult

The guy is tone-deaf to regular people and the policies he either supports, opposes, or ignores.

Kerry said breakthroughs in renewable energy held the potential to "transform the economy" more than the Internet.

Yeah, the WRONG WAY:
The Power of Green

But there isn't a globalist, elitist plan to screw you, 'murkn; I mean, after all, see how great they have taken care of us? I know the LIES are FOR OUR OWN GOOD -- just like in 'nam, right, senator?!

As rain fell steadily on graduates huddled under ponchos and umbrellas, Kerry joked that he had never enjoyed so much power in the US Senate....

See:
The History of Global Cooling for more on the rain.

And the ARROGANCE and HUBRIS of POWER, 'eh?

Kerry also praised the accomplishments of Dominique Powell, a former Marine who received the John F. Kennedy Award for Academic Excellence, UMass-Boston's top student prize. Noting that Powell is considering a career in politics, Kerry quipped that he hoped she would run for a seat in the House of Representatives. As a former Navy sailor, he said, he knew better than to "tangle with a Marine from UMass-Boston."

We will get to her in a moment.

In a moving speech, Powell, a Dorchester native, recalled her struggles adjusting to civilian life after four years in the military. "I felt lost and hopeless," she said. But with the support of family, UMass-Boston faculty, and friends, she rebounded, finding comfort in counseling and tutoring returning veterans. "They showed me hope, and I took that hope and ran with it." --more--"

Whadda ya mean she had a difficult go after getting out?

Okay, so what is Ms. Powell's story?

"By aiding veterans, she helps herself; Ex-Marine lauded for work at UMass" by Peter Schworm, Globe Staff | May 29, 2009

.... She wanted to attend the College of the Holy Cross, but decided on the military so she would not burden her parents financially....

Shortly after enlisting, however, Powell regretted her decision. A shy, sheltered teenager when she arrived at Parris Island, S.C., for boot camp, she initially buckled under the intense pressure of military life. In time she adjusted, but never completely accepted a culture she found dehumanizing, particularly as a woman.

That's what war is.

"It got to be too much," she said. "I couldn't stay in a minute longer. The lifestyle just wasn't for me."

WTF? I thought our military was the finest, bestest military in the whole history of the universe? WTF?

Yet once she fulfilled her four-year service obligation and left the Marines, Powell said, she missed the structure and security. She remains deeply conflicted about her service. The military helped her mature and gave her newfound confidence and mental toughness, she said. Serving her country, she said, was a source of great pride. But her time in the military also "broke her down" and left her with little direction.

But she's a SUCCESS STORY, kiddies!

Powell said she feels guilty about her psychological struggles, which she feels are petty compared with those of combat veterans. Though relieved to have left the military before being sent overseas, she grapples with emotions from her former unit's deployment, and grimly recalls reading the news that a friend from her platoon had been killed by a suicide bomber in Iraq.

Oh, she has SURVIVOR'S GUILT, does she? She NEVER SERVED in COMBAT and SHE HAS PHYSCHOLOGICAL PROBLEMS? Oh, brother!!!!

Most nagging is the sense that her time in the military, as a radio operator at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, has held her back, emotionally and professionally. When she got back she often didn't answer to her first name, called her parents sir and ma'am, and had to relearn how to make her own decisions.

???? ?

A criminal justice major, Powell said she hopes to work for a nonprofit that helps veterans or potentially work for the FBI or CIA....

Ummm, I WOULD RATHER SHE NOT!!!!

We have ENOUGH UNBALANCED PEOPLE staffing the HALLS of GOVERNMENT!
