"Road fund running low, Obama says" by Associated Press | June 3, 2009
WASHINGTON - The Obama administration is warning lawmakers that the trust fund that pays for highway construction will go broke in August unless Congress approves an infusion of as much as $7 billion.
Another TAX INCREASE? WTF?
Senator Barbara Boxer, chair of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, said at a hearing the administration has told senators the Federal Highway Trust Fund will need an estimated $5 billion to $7 billion to keep current construction projects going. The California Democrat said $8 billion to $10 billion more will be needed to keep the fund solvent through the year ending Sept. 30, 2010....
WHERE the F*** has ALL the MONEY GONE?
This nation has been LOOTED, hasn't it?
We HAVE NO MONEY LEFT because it has ALL BEEN STOLEN!!
A decline in driving that began in late 2007 has reduced federal gas tax revenue, the primary source of trust fund dollars....
I thought that was a good thing. Maybe you guys shouldn't have wrecked the economy.
Senator George Voinovich, Republican of Ohio, said it's clear that Congress must raise the federal gas tax, which is 18.4 cents per gallon. "I know that doesn't go down so well with some folks," but it's "the reality of the situation," Voinovich said at the hearing.
They JUST PASSED a BEVY of NEW TAXES here!!!
I really want to know when Americans are going to say ENOUGH is ENOUGH!!!
Fellow Amurkns? Hello?
They must have slid into the median!
"Cutbacks sprout shaggy median strips" by Associated Press | June 6, 2009
HAGERSTOWN, Md. - America's highways are taking on a shaggier look for the peak travel season. Grasses, shrubs, and wildflowers are exploding across median strips and road shoulders as states cut back on mowing to save money.
So where did all those tax dollars go -- other than into favored interest and well-connected pockets?
Although there are some environmental benefits, the principal reason for the cuts are financial since states rely on fuel taxes to pay for highway maintenance, and fuel sales have been hurt by the recession and the shift toward thriftier vehicles....

"Cash for clunkers bill approved by House" by Globe Wire Services | June 10, 2009
WASHINGTON - The House approved a "cash for clunkers" bill yesterday that aims to boost new auto sales by allowing consumers to turn in their gas-guzzling cars and trucks for vouchers worth up to $4,500 toward more fuel-efficient vehicles....
Look at the GOVERNMENT INTERFERING in the MARKET again -- by GIVING YOU BACK some of YOUR MONEY!!!
So how is this tax credit going to be misused by the elite?
Why not just BUY US ALL a CAR like Oprah?
Certainly would be cheaper than TRILLIONS for BANK BAILOUTS and WARS!
What is $20,000 dollars multiplied by about 200 million people (about $4 trillion)?
Okay, screw the cars, 'bamer, how about an END to the WARS!!!!!!???
