"In protesting the president, civility rules" by Matt Viser, Globe Staff | August 26, 2009
VINEYARD HAVEN - .... High-profile protester Cindy Sheehan arrived last night and was whisked to a 34-foot wooden sloop on Lake Tashmoo, kicking off a four-day visit that will include a series of peace activities. She will be staying in homes of her supporters, some not far from Obama’s rented 28-acre retreat in Chilmark. There is a brunch for Sheehan Friday, and among the guests expected is author Naomi Wolf.
“The digs are a bit better’’ than in Crawford, said Laurie Dobson, spokeswoman for Sheehan, who attracted international attention when she protested the Iraq War near Bush’s ranch. “We’re having a hard time finding things as unaccommodating as Crawford. Where do you find a ditch?’’
“There’s nothing in Crawford,’’ Sheehan added in an interview yesterday. “There’s a little gas station with a minimart; that’s it.’’
The center of Sheehan’s activities will be a larger boat, a custom-built racing sloop labeled, for this week, the S.S. Camp Casey, after her son who died in Iraq. She will be drafting an “International People’s Declaration of Peace,’’ staging several peace vigils, and holding a press conference today before reporters hungry for news.
Oh, is that why they are giving her the good pub?
“The support on the island to me has been very overwhelming and generous,’’ Sheehan added....
Yeah, because for all it's liberal flaws. this place is RABIDLY ANTIWAR!!!
Look, I'M a REGISTERED REPUBLICAN and I AM AGAINST all this stuff!
END the EMPIRE and BRING OUR BOYS and GIRLS HOME ALIVE!
Sheehan, whose 26-day vigil near Bush’s ranch in 2005 drew some 10,000 antiwar protesters, said she hopes to highlight on the Vineyard that “things are getting worse in the Middle East.’’
She's right!
“One thing I’m very disturbed about is there is no antiwar movement against Obama,’’ she said. “I’m trying to reinvigorate that this week while we’re there.’’
No,, and that is what is most disappointing about the "left" in AmeriKa -- aside from the failure to face up to false flags and 9/11 truth.
Some on the island are in no mood to join her....
But that's okay; I like the Globe's placement on that.
