Americans Want Out of Afghanistan

Eight years of lies tends do do that to what was once a war-supporting (never me) public.

"American is killed by bomb in Afghanistan; Death makes Aug. deadliest month for US" by Robert H. Reid, Associated Press | August 29, 2009

KABUL - .... A recent Washington Post-ABC News poll found that just over 50 percent of the American respondents said the war in Afghanistan was not worth fighting. Antiwar sentiment is also growing in Britain following a spike in deaths among British forces in Afghanistan....

The latest spike in US deaths has raised doubts among the United States and its allies about the course of the war....

See: Beware of a False Flag Terror Event, America!

At least 732 US service members have died in the Afghan war since the invasion of late 2001. Nearly 60 percent of those deaths occurred since the Taliban insurgency began to rebound in 2007.

Time to LEAVE, America!

Since the fresh troops began arriving in Afghanistan last spring, US deaths have climbed steadily - from 12 in May to more than 40 for the past two months as American forces have taken the fight to the Taliban in areas of the country that have long been under insurgent control....

Maybe that is a good thing: Afghans Need Taliban Return

The grim milestone comes as the top US commander prepares to submit his assessment of the conflict - a report expected to trigger intense debate on the Obama administration’s strategy in an increasingly unpopular war.

Then it is TIME TO COME HOME!!!

An American service member died yesterday when his vehicle struck a bomb in eastern Afghanistan, making August the deadliest month for US forces in the nearly eight-year war....

Then it is TIME TO COME HOME!!!

I would have to guess the military did not like these reporters.

That would explain the war paper ignoring them.

"In Southern Afghan City, Fears of Taliban Takeover; In southern Afghan city, deteriorating security stokes fears of a Taliban takeover" by NOOR KHAN, Associated Press | August 27, 2009

Southern Afghanistan's largest city, Kandahar, is slipping back under Taliban control as overstretched U.S. troops focus on clearing insurgents from the countryside — a potentially alarming setback for President Barack Obama's war strategy.

Afghan authorities promise a counteroffensive against the militants in Kandahar — a pledge that appears aimed primarily at boosting public morale after a devastating bombing killed 43 people on Tuesday.

Losing Kandahar, a city of nearly 1 million and the Taliban's former headquarters, would be a huge symbolic blow because it is effectively the capital of the ethnic Pashtun-dominated south, the main battlefield of the Afghan war.

It is difficult to measure the extent of Taliban control, and NATO officials publicly discount the possibility that Kandahar is about to fall to the militants....

The Taliban's resurgence in Kandahar city, the movement's main power base during the 1990s, has been slow and gradual over the past four years, said an international security official who is familiar with the area. These days, the Taliban control many of the city's streets at night, the official said. Residents who spoke to The Associated Press also said militants were active at night, though they did not describe them as being in control....

The militants have targeted tribal elders in surrounding districts, and have a notable presence in the city's north, south and west, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject....

That's where my local cut it, and so will I.

"Afghans’ hearts and minds swayed by money; U.S. Marines make amends for damages to homes with cash" by the Associated Press | Aug. 28, 2009

I'm tired of the Muslim-hating insults for one thing.

They sound almost as greedy as the Jew.

DAHANEH, Afghanistan - .... As winning the "hearts and minds" of ordinary Afghans becomes a higher priority in the war on the Taliban and al-Qaida, U.S. troops are finding that one of the most potent weapons in their arsenal is hard cash....

I'm GLAD you have MONEY TO SPARE, American taxpayers!

Are the LIES WORTH IT?

A project called the Commander Emergency Relief Program uses American taxpayer dollars to repay Afghans for damage caused during military operations.

Let's LEAVE NOW, America!!!!

The program isn't new. Commanders have been doling out money in Iraq and Afghanistan for years to compensate civilians for combat losses....

Are the LIES WORTH IT, America?

In the valley, the image of U.S. and NATO troops was one presented by the Taliban. U.S. commanders hope the compensation program will help change that image....

Yeah, WE JUST KILLED THEIR FAMILY, but a CHECK will smooth things over!!

A slain civilian translates to $2,500 in compensation to a family.

THAT'S IT??? A measly $2500 bucks?

Oh, I'M SORRY but that is WAY TOO LOW!!!!

Afghan lives are PRICELESS!!!!!!!!

A dead cow goes for nearly the same amount, because they are so hard to raise in southern Afghanistan's barren countryside and are crucial to a family's well-being. A broken window: about $50. A broken door can go up to $110 if it's made of metal and has nice smithery.

"People here are really struggling to make a living, so any material damage is a very big deal," said Staff Sgt. Todd Bowers, 30, from Washington, D.C. "Just a little money can make their lives much better."

While that includes doling out cash, it also means consulting villagers in a region where local councils are a normal means of decision-making — including allowing residents directly affected by operations to air their grievances.

Abdul-Hamid, his wife, and their 10 children, for instance, endured a terrifying, middle-of-the-night ordeal on the outskirts of Dahaneh, a longtime Taliban stronghold stormed last week by Marines from Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines.

The Marines arrived by helicopter in the middle of the night, shoving M-16s in the family members' faces as multiple squads stormed through. At one point, one of the farmer's adult sons cried softly because his plastic handcuffs were so tight his fingers turned purple.

But cutting 'em a check will fix everything! That is WHY AMERICA is FAILING in this world!!

MONEY DON'T SOLVE EVERYTHING, assholes!!!!!!!!!

The Marines then used explosives to burst through the wall into the compound belonging to Abdul-Hamid's neighbor. A baby started crying after the second explosion sent shrapnel and debris flying high over Abdul-Hamid's courtyard....

The Civil Affairs unit took his photo, fingerprinted him and scanned his irises to run through a countrywide NATO computer system....

There is your NEW WORLD ORDER at work, America!!!

Staff Sgt. Evan Matos said the Marines were evaluating how much Abdul-Hamid's home was worth and would pay him a good rent as long as they were stationed here....

You COMMANDEERED his HOUSE for a BASE?

You AIN'T WINNING MY HEART and MIND that way, military!!!

"We're trying to show him and others that we're not bullies, and that we're a constructive force in Afghanistan," said Matos, 25, of New York City....

That's it. I'm done. I can't take anymore MSM shit-flinging.
