CLEVELAND - A convicted rapist who fled before police arrived to arrest him on new rape charges was arrested yesterday after police found six decomposing bodies at his home....
And yet AUTHORITIES are going after POT CLINICS!!!! Sigh!
Police established a command post in the neighborhood to take missing person reports and additional information on missing persons in the neighborhood.... Police were checking missing person reports back to June 2005, when Sowell was released from prison.
Teresa Hicks, 48, was among the neighbors who said they were relieved about the arrest but left with a heightened fear of crime.... Hicks said her daughter would not be trick-or-treating.
Nothing like that around here.
Minutes before the arrest was made, police Chief Michael McGrath tried to reassure parents that it was safe for their children to go trick-or-treating in the neighborhood if they followed standard precautions like avoiding strangers and staying in a group....
Detectives with a search warrant found the two bodies Thursday on the third floor of a duplex and began checking a fresh grave dug in the basement. The bodies were in an advanced state of decomposition, suggesting that they had been in the home for a long time.

CLEVELAND - A stench around the home of a suspected serial killer returned stronger than ever yesterday as police searched the house next door for more bodies and carried out bags of evidence.
“It’s like it got worse,’’ said 22-year-old neighbor Terrance Johnson. “It smells bad in the air, like death.’’
Four plainclothes officers carried bags of evidence from the house next door to Anthony Sowell’s early yesterday afternoon, but police did not indicate what had been removed. The red-painted house next to Sowell’s appeared to be abandoned but in good shape, aside from a broken porch railing....
The neighborhood had reeked off and on for several years, and residents had attributed the odor to a broken sewer or a nearby sausage shop. Now most think the smell came from decomposing bodies. Neighbors attributed yesterday’s renewed odor to increased activity near Sowell’s house. The FBI, which has offered technical help in the investigation, said the timing of a thermal-energy search of the property would be up to city police, who didn’t indicate when that would start.
