"France: Wild cat on the prowl but it’s not a tiger" Associated Press   November 15, 2014

MONTEVRAIN, France — A two-day search by some 200 French police officers and members of the armed forces for a wild cat roaming through towns and across a major highway came to one conclusion Friday: It isn’t a tiger.

The wild cat caught in several fuzzy photos in the town of Montevrain was spotted again early Friday by truckers on a main route between Paris and eastern France.

In a statement later in the day, the regional administration near the site said experts have concluded the wandering animal isn’t a tiger, but a feline of an unknown species.

One theory is that it could be a lynx, a wild cat that was reintroduced to France in the 1970s, according to the wildlife group Ferus. But the nearest known lynx habitat is 215 miles from Montevrain.

"Hunt for ‘big cat’ enters its third day

PARIS — Authorities entered a third day Saturday in their hunt for a ‘‘big cat’’ that sparked panic last week after being sighted in the Paris suburbs. Montevrain Town Hall official Cedric Tartaud said the ‘‘danger level’’ has dropped for residents but could not say what kind of cat it is (AP)."

Last I saw of it.

Time to hunt down (is that a halo over the airstrikes?) some crisis actors for the shrill of it all.
