"Worker dies in accident at road salt facility

An employee of a Westfield road salt manufacturing facility died in a work-related accident, police said. Captain Michael McCabe said emergency personnel were called to the Cargill Salt facility just before 11 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a person ‘‘seen in an awkward position on a conveyor belt.’’ The outdoor conveyor belt services a salt pile. The victim, identified by police as Robert Crossetti, 33, of Westfield, was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Local police as well as the federal Occupational Health and Safety Administration are investigating (AP)."
