"NATO extends anti-piracy mission" by Associated Press | June 13, 2009

BRUSSELS - NATO will keep a counter-piracy flotilla off the Horn of Africa, where international patrols have been key to preventing attacks in one of the world's busiest sea lanes, Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said yesterday.

And to GUARD ISRAELI WEAPONS SHIPMENTS to the REGION!

He also said that the alliance would send eight extra infantry battalions - numbering 8,000 to 10,000 troops - to help secure the presidential elections in Afghanistan on Aug. 20.

Yeah, WORK the AFGHAN ESCALATION in, too!! Nice job!!

A NATO flotilla has been stationed off Somalia since November. It was joined by a European Union squadron, a US-led task force, and ships from other nations. Their main task is to escort vessels carrying food aid to Somalia.

What BULL CRAP!!

Yesterday, suspected Somali pirates seized a German-owned cargo ship off the coast of the Gulf Arab state of Oman, the first recorded attack in its territorial waters, NATO alliance staff said.

Then WHY wasn't the MSM BLARING about the CRISIS, 'eh?

Can you say SELECTIVE, AGENDA-PUSHING CENSORSHIP, readers?

"Mogadishu civilians endure near daily atrocities: U.N.

More than 117,000 people have fled the city since May 8 when the latest round of fighting between government forces and rival Islamist groups erupted, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees said.

More than 200 people are believed to have been killed in the last month alone, mostly civilians, and hospital reports indicate some 700 were wounded in the clashes, it said.

"It is clearly a critical humanitarian situation with regular atrocities being committed -- with shelling of civilians, widespread rape and hostage-taking," UNHCR spokesman William Spindler told a news briefing."
