Air Raid in Amherst

I'm sure the neighbors are going to love this.

"UMass Amherst to test outdoor warning system

AMHERST, Mass. --The University of Massachusetts Amherst will test its new outdoor emergency warning system before classes start this fall. School officials plan to test the system, made up of eight sirens, Tuesday and Wednesday. Amherst residents will receive reverse 911 calls alerting them to the tests. UMass already issues emergency warnings through text messages, e-mail and its Web site. The sirens are meant to warn people on campus of tornados, hazardous material spills and potential shooters. University officials say the siren and voice alerts will warn people outside to go inside and seek more information.
