That succinctly sums up my fellow citizens because they don't.
"For sports fans, ticketless entry is in the cards; Teams can cut costs, gather data" by Pat Eaton-Robb, Associated Press | August 11, 2009
UNCASVILLE, Conn. - There are other advantages. Each time the card is scanned, a computer records where and for what it was used. The Sun hopes to use this data to better target what it should be selling at its concession stands, and with which stores and restaurants it should be partners....
With the Sun’s system, the ticket information is kept in a computer database. That way, a fan can use a computer to add, delete, or transfer tickets to and from an account. Tickets can be transferred from card to card. It also makes getting playoff tickets to season-ticket holders as simple as hitting a few keystrokes....
If a fan is giving tickets to friends, they can have those deleted from the card and printed and waiting at the arena. And for those special occasions, fans can still have commemorative tickets printed....
There is also another major advantage to having the card, said Sun fan Patty Romanoff.
“It allows me to not be an idiot and leave my tickets home,’’ she said. “I’ve done that twice. This sits in your wallet. You don’t have to think.’’
