The EPA's Deaf Ear

Remember, this is the same agency that said the toxic stew of Ground Zero posed no danger to your health.

"Company fined $650,000 for idling buses

A Boston-based bus company has agreed to pay a $650,000 fine for allowing some of its vehicles to idle for long periods of time in a bus yard. Paul Revere Transportation LLC was accused by the US Environmental Protection Agency of violating the federal Clean Air Act and a Massachusetts regulation. The company was found liable in June, following a trial in US District Court. The EPA said inspectors who visited Paul Revere’s bus yard in Roxbury over seven weeks in 2006 sometimes found more than 20 vehicles left idling for up two hours. A spokesman for the company, Scott Farmelant, said Paul Revere has a strong environmental track record and is disappointed that the EPA was unwilling to settle the case (AP)."
