Plowing the Fields in Cuba

Sometimes I wonder if the Globe is reading me.

I
just put up a story and they respond?

"Beasts ease Cuba economic burden; Oxen used to help conserve energy, boost food stores" by Will Weissert, Associated Press | August 10, 2009

SAN DIEGO, Cuba - Cuba’s economy was devastated by three hurricanes last summer, and the global recession has left the government short on cash to cover debts.

So the banksters got them by the balls, too, huh?

As a result, it has slashed spending and cut domestic production and foreign imports, causing shortages of such basics as cooking oil, ground beef, and toilet paper.

Ooooh, that last one could be real trouble.

Though the island gets nearly 100,000 free barrels of oil a day from Venezuela, it also has begun a campaign to conserve crude.

You know, I'm SICK of the AX GRINDING WAR PROPAGANDA in every piece -- as if the suffering Cubans really don't have it so bad.

The Agricultural Ministry in late June proposed increasing the use of oxen to save fuel; Cubans have seen a summer of factories closing and air conditioners at government offices and businesses being shut off to save oil....

We call those green jobs here.

Shortages in Cuba are not new....

But they are in America.

What are you going to do, America?

You, who have never known privation and now find yourselves on the cusps of hell as those sworn to serve you steal it all.
