"The conflict claimed some 58,000 American lives and an estimated 3 million Vietnamese"

All over that Gulf of Tonkin lie.

And the Vietnamese have MOVED ON!

"Vietnamese are upbeat about future, poll finds" by Ben Stocking, Associated Press | April 29, 2010

HANOI — Thirty-five years after the end of the Vietnam War, the people of this country are optimistic about the future, bullish about the free market, and rarely think about a conflict that still ignites political passions in America.

A new Associated Press-GfK Poll, one of the most exhaustive surveys to date of contemporary Vietnamese attitudes, underscores how rapidly life has changed in Vietnam. Under a single-party Communist government, the country has embraced market-oriented reforms and lifted tens of millions out of poverty.

So it isn't really Communist, is it?

Eighty-five percent said the economy is stronger than it was five years ago, and 87 percent said they expect it to be even stronger in another five years. Eighty-one percent said the country is moving in the right direction.

“The country has changed so much in so many ways since the end of the war that you can’t imagine,’’ said Luong Trung Thanh, 72, a retired teacher from Hanoi. “It changes every day, right in front of your eyes. There are tall buildings going up everywhere.’’

The war ended on April 30, 1975, with the fall of Saigon, now known as Ho Chi Minh City, to communist troops from the north.

Initially, hunger was widespread as the government launched a centrally planned economy and the West imposed an economic blockade. But two decades ago, the communist leadership began opening up the economy, sparking a boom.

Why are they doing better than you, America?

"Vietnam celebrates anniversary of war’s end" by Ben Stocking, Associated Press | May 1, 2010

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam — Vietnam marked the 35th anniversary of the Communist victory in the Vietnam War with a grand military parade yesterday through the former Saigon, with the government basking more in its economic achievements than its historic military defeat of the United States.

The city is now named for Ho Chi Minh, the father of the revolution, but signs of the burgeoning market economy are everywhere, with Communist banners competing for space with corporate ads and logos....

The fall of Saigon marked the official end of the Vietnam War and the decadelong US campaign against communism in Southeast Asia. The conflict claimed some 58,000 American lives and an estimated 3 million Vietnamese.

The numbers for the Vietnamese are staggering.

The war left divisions that would take years to heal, as many former South Vietnamese soldiers were sent to Communist reeducation camps, and hundreds of thousands of their relatives fled the country....

Nice job, AmeriKa.

In a reminder of how the Communist Party retains a strong grip on the flow of information despite the opening of the economy, foreign journalists were forbidden from conducting interviews along the parade route. The area was sealed off from ordinary citizens, apparently due to security concerns.

I'm tired of crap Zionist MSM kettles hollering pot!

President Nguyen Minh Triet was joined at the parade by leaders and dignitaries from Cuba, Russia, and neighboring Cambodia and Laos. Most of those in the crowd were war veterans, party cadres, and others who were selected by local communist organizations....

Looks like a GOOD TIME!

I guess MSM is JEALOUS they were not invited!

"Gift to aid in Vietnam memorial upkeep" by Associated Press | May 12, 2010

WASHINGTON — A labor union is pledging $50,000 for upkeep of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial grounds on the National Mall.

The Maryland-based International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers unveiled the gift yesterday to help care for about 13 acres for the rest of the year.

Last year, the private foundation that built the memorial took over landscaping and maintenance of the site from the National Park Service. Officials said they were moved to act after reading an Associated Press investigative story on the lack of federal money for the mall, despite needed repairs.

Un-flipping-real!

Yup, the TAX LOOT is ONLY FOR BANKS, WAR-PROFITEERS, and ISRAEL!

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund spent nearly $100,000 last year to repair a broken irrigation system and overhaul the landscaping. The group also plans to restore a bronze sculpture of three soldiers at the memorial.

YOUR GOVERNMENT is AWOL, AmeriKa!!!!
