"Crime Watcher acquitted of assault in tiff
A 70-year-old Onset Crime Watch volunteer who was arrested last summer after a dispute with a resident over a parking ticket was acquitted this week of assault charges. The charges dated to July 17, when George H. Coleman of Wareham got into an argument with a woman in the street and threatened to give her a parking ticket. Coleman said the woman jumped in front of his Crime Watch cruiser and refused to move; witnesses at the scene told police that Coleman drove toward the woman and bumped her legs. Coleman pleaded not guilty at his arraignment last summer. Wareham District Court Judge Thomas Barrett Coleman decided the case Monday, according to the Wareham District Court clerk’s office.
