Going Under

In more ways than one.

Let's start when we were still barely above water:

Brett Kavanaugh and accuser will testify before Senate panel Monday

This is the story that will ripple all week, and it is not going to end well for one of them.

Just in case Trump has another nominee waiting in the wings, a rising star in the Republican Party who will no doubt be harassed and be given a good going over; however, he should be able to weather the attacks as long as he isn't tied to any terrorism (was she set-up like Pitts?).

If worst comes to worst, Kavanaugh can always use the Goldstein defense:

"Ex-president of suspended frat to stand trial in sex assault" AP  July 20, 2018

PHILADELPHIA — A Philadelphia judge Thursday ordered the former president of a suspended fraternity at Temple University to stand trial on sexual assault charges.

After a preliminary hearing at which his accuser testified Thursday, Ari Goldstein was ordered to stand trial on attempted sexual assault, attempted rape, simple assault, and other charges. One charge of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse was dismissed, and a formal arraignment is scheduled for Aug. 2.

Temple University officials suspended Alpha Epsilon Pi in April after at least three women alleged they were sexually assaulted at the fraternity house. The reports also included allegations of underage drinking and drug use.

The charges against Goldstein, 21, stem from allegations made by a woman who said she attended a party at the fraternity house this year.

The woman testified that Goldstein locked her in a room at the fraternity house after offering to smoke marijuana with her. He then groped her and tried to force her to perform oral sex, she said. The Associated Press does not typically identify people who say they are victims of sexual assault.

Goldstein’s attorney, Perry de Marco Sr., said after the hearing that his client had not committed a crime. He called the allegations, ‘‘MeToo gone wild.’’

Goldstein was arrested in May as he was set to leave the country on a scheduled trip to Israel. His bail was set at $2 million at the request of the Philadelphia district attorney’s office, which had originally asked for a higher bond amount.

--more--"

Maybe you would like to take a look inside?

The pussies are literally coming out of the woodwork, and I'm not mocking the issue of underage drinking. The Senate panel must fully investigate the accuser’s claims and crucify that little liar on the altar of the establishment (looks like Jim Jordan won't be Speaker of the House, either) if they are fooled by her act.

I'd say the Good Old Playboy's network is over but.....

"Profits are up 25 percent, and Playboy sees lots of opportunities to expand, particularly in the US. Five years ago, Playboy bailed on its licensing business in the domestic market, investing instead in places where the Playboy brand still conveyed an air of American exceptionalism. There are five Playboy clubs, cafes, and beer gardens in Southeast Asia and one in London.  The opening of a New York beachhead gives Playboy Enterprises Inc. a chance to reintroduce the brand in person to an American audience.

I am getting such mixed messages here.

Recently, however, insatiable bed-hopping has lost its glamour. These days, the news is strewn with stories about once-revered men who for years allegedly abused their positions of workplace power in pursuit of serial sexual conquests — in so doing, ultimately wrecking their reputations and careers.

One still gets excused, even if he is still a lecherous pervert!

That one of the scandals involves the president of the United States allegedly covering up an extramarital affair with a former Playboy Playmate is a further turn of the screw for Playboy’s brand managers. An aura of pin-striped male entitlement is not what they’re after. Playboy is perhaps the most extreme example of the conundrum facing masculine brands in the #MeToo era. Across the retail landscape, marketers have been tamping down the testosterone.

For a while, it looked as if Playboy, too, might turn cottontail and head for safer ground. In the fall of 2015, during the home stretch of Barack Obama’s eight-year tenure, the company announced it would no longer publish nudity in its magazine, but the relative demureness was short-lived. A little more than a month after Donald Trump’s inauguration, Playboy reintroduced nudity....."

So they are blaming Trump for that, too.

Maybe Kavanaugh should have smoked pot instead (and why has no one asked), but I suppose that that would have given him the wrong chemistry for the job.

The next thing you know they will be accusing him of pedophilia.
