“Production is still way up’’
"decrease in the rate of production"
Like I said, NO MATTER WHAT the article, NO MATTER WHAT the issue....
"State cranberry production falls in rough season" by Sean Sposito, Globe Correspondent | August 19, 2009
Massachusetts cranberry production is expected to plummet 20 percent - the biggest drop in the country - due to an unseasonably cool, wet growing season, according to an agriculture report released yesterday.
Crop production in the Bay State, the No. 2 cranberry producer in the country behind Wisconsin, is expected to be down to 1.9 million barrels this year because of bad weather and reduced pollination during the crop’s pollination period between June and July, according to the US Department of Agriculture’s annual cranberry report....
Actually, I HAVE HARDLY SEEN any bees this year!

Strange how the Globe would OMIT or IGNORE that!
Scott J. Soares, commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources, said while the report’s results seem negative, the crop production this year represents the second largest yield in the state’s history. Soares said the state’s crop is up 25 percent from 2007, when Massachusetts producers harvested 1.55 million barrels. “Production is still way up,’’ he said.
John Decas, an owner of Carver-based Decas Cranberry Products Inc., said a decrease in the rate of production is actually beneficial for state producers....
John Isaf, spokesman for Lakeville-based cooperative Ocean Spray Cranberries Inc., said it would have been impossible to improve on the 2008 cranberry crop because “last year we ran into ideal growing conditions and it produced a record crop.’’

More F***ING with FIGURES!!!
Oh, right, I did find this in the BUSINESS SECTION!!!
For the record, I never eat the things. It's kind of funny. I am a native my whole life, and I hate cranberries. Never liked 'em at Thanksgiving, not even the jelly out of the can. I don't drink cranberry juice, either. It is a most distasteful state, I must say.
