Massachusetts Justice: The Dartmouth Death

One thing I have learned is NEVER BELIEVE the POLICE -- even here in lovey-dovey, liberal Massachusetts.

"Police call ends with a fatal shooting; Officer kills suspect during a struggle" by John R. Ellement and Andrew Ryan, Globe Staff | August 13, 2009

DARTMOUTH - Terri Carter called police, and a few minutes later - after two officers, a police dog, and Joseph M. Ramos Jr. encountered one another on the street - Ramos lay in the road, fatally wounded by a single gunshot fired by Officer Jared White.

“It was surreal,’’ Carter said yesterday of the confrontation between police and Ramos, who was over 6 feet tall and in good physical condition. “One little thing turned into the biggest mess.’’

According to the office of Bristol District Attorney C. Samuel Sutter Jr., Ramos was armed with a screwdriver when White shot him....

No taser first?

According to a law enforcement source who has reviewed his criminal history, Ramos was arrested in 1998 for breaking and entering in the nighttime, a charge that was dismissed, and for possession of a Class B substance (cocaine), which was continued without a finding for one year and then dropped. Ramos had one serious conviction on his record, in 1997 for assault and battery, for which he was given a 90-day suspended sentence, the source said.

So what? He is the VICTIM, Glob!! He is LYING THERE DEAD!!!

Yesterday, Ramos family members gathered along Milton Street, where they have lived for decades. Ramos’s father, Joseph Ramos, declined to speak with reporters....

Yeah, WHO CAN BLAME THEM! I wouldn't talk to these guys for all the tea in China.

Sutter, in a telephone interview, said it could take several months for his office to determine whether the officers acted legally. One area that will be explored, Sutter said, is whether the officers had less than lethal equipment available to them during the crisis. “I think that has to be part of the investigation,’’ Sutter said.

Okay, I'm counting on a follow-up, Glob.

Neighbors said they were surprised to learn that Ramos was accused of acting violently toward police.

Hmmmmmmmmmm!!!!! T

he shooting took place at the intersection of Fifth and Milton streets, where a handmade white cross has since been erected. Two candles burned nearby.

A one-day wonder, never to be heard of again. Must have been murder.

Same as this:

"Police chief says officers were given no choice in fatal shooting" by John R. Ellement, Globe Staff | August 14, 2009

Ramos, according to witness Terri Carter, got off the ground and charged toward White....

A man who had lived most of his adult life on the street where he was shot and was known to be eccentric, but not violent. One issue that has sparked concern is a chronic medical condition the family says afflicted Ramos.

Ramos family lawyer Jeffrey Denner of Boston said the chronic disease “certainly made it difficult, if not impossible, for him to get up again in short order or to pose a further threat to anyone.’’

I see some $$$$ signs here, taxpayers!

Hey, that is the price of tyranny!

"Father of man killed by Dartmouth police files suit; Says son unarmed when officer fired" by John R. Ellement, Globe Staff | October 2, 2009

Joseph M. Ramos Sr. filed suit against the Town of Dartmouth yesterday, saying that his son suffered from a neurological condition that prevented him from lunging at police officers as they alleged he did in August, when one of them shot and killed the 42-year-old man.

Yeah, as suspected -- and as is usually the case -- the cops are cover-up liars!

So sad!

Joseph M. Ramos Jr. was so weakened by the untreated ailment that he was in no position to suddenly rise up and attack Officer Scott Brooks or Officer Jared White, his father said at a Boston press conference announcing a federal wrongful death suit against the town and police....

Ramos was killed in a confrontation with police after he went to a woman’s door armed with a stick studded with protruding nails.

They authorities said it was a SCREWDRIVER!!

Dartmouth Police Chief Mark Pacheco told the Globe in August that the confrontation between Ramos and the officers played itself out so quickly that police did not have time to use nonlethal means, such as pepper spray or a baton, to protect themselves.

What BULLS***!!!!

So ALL the TRAINING is WORTHLESS, huh?

Bristol District Attorney C. Samuel Sutter and police, in a brief account released in August, described Ramos as the aggressor and said he was armed with a screwdriver and had attacked the officers....

Once a liar, always a liar.

So WHEN is the TRIAL, Glob?

Hello?

I'm waiting.....
