A Medford man trying to get his work supervisor in trouble was arrested yesterday on charges that he mailed threatening letters to churches and offices of the NAACP, the US attorney’s office in Boston said.

Jeffrey Smith, 46, working for a Cambridge company that contracted with Securitas Security Services USA, Inc., also allegedly sent letters in September to 13 Somerville addresses calling his supervisor, living in the neighborhood, an unregistered sex offender from Great Britain who should be deported in a pine box.

"Medford man sentenced for larceny, fraud

A Medford man has been sentenced to four to five years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing approximately $3 million from the construction management company where he worked and sending fraudulent bills to cover up his thefts to his company’s clients, Harvard University and the Massachusetts Port Authority, the attorney general’s office said yesterday. George Papadopolous faced larceny and procurement fraud charges for his actions when he was a vice president and branch manager of URS Corp., a company that provides planning and management for large construction projects. Papadopoulous was sentenced yesterday by Suffolk Superior Court Judge Carol Ball, said Harry Pierre, a spokesman for Attorney General Martha Coakley. After serving his sentence, Papadopoulos will have to serve five years of probation.
