"Sharpton is called Obama’s link to streets" by Associated Press | April 19, 2010
NEW YORK — The Rev. Al Sharpton is a “lightning rod’’ for moving forward President Obama’s political agenda in the inner cities, according to Obama’s former Harvard Law School professor and mentor.
Charles Ogletree said at a forum in Harlem on Saturday that Sharpton is a conduit between powerful leaders and the disadvantaged.
So are sewage pipes.

All corroded with corruption, great.
“He has access to both the streets and the suites, to make sure that the people who are voiceless, faceless, and powerless finally have some say,’’ Ogletree said....
Is that why they still do not?
Sharpton the charlatan?
Sharpton spoke on the last day of an annual conference organized by his National Action Network. Speakers included Ogletree, three members of Obama’s Cabinet, and RNC chairman Michael Steele.

So what fun stuff went on after hours this time?
Speaking at the First Corinthian Baptist Church, Ogletree said some black Americans may be disappointed that the president they helped elect is not doing more for them.
It is NOT JUST THEM!
After EIGHT HELLISH YEARS we were ALL HOPING for SO MUCH MORE!!
“And President Obama expected to do a lot more,’’ said Ogletree, referring to the challenges Obama faces in two wars and the struggling economy. Still, he predicted, the new health care law would affect uninsured black Americans more than any other segment of the population.
I fail to see how a crappy and unaffordable corporate plan or a tax penalty is going to help. Single-payer like France or Norway would have been better.
And they would benefit most from an end to wars and corporate tax takes.

Taking it to the streets, 'eh?
