No Talking to Taliban

So says the Afghan puppet.

That's strange; Pakistan has a truce going with theirs.

"Afghan envoy urges more US troops; Says negotiations with Taliban must proceed carefully" by James F. Smith, Globe Staff | March 12, 2009

CAMBRIDGE - Afghanistan's ambassador to the United States, Said T. Jawad, said last night that the West could negotiate effectively with the Taliban only from a position of strength, which he said would demand major new investments of troops and resources in Afghanistan.

I'd rather JUST COME HOME, thanks!

We SPENT TOO MUCH and BEEN THERE TOO LONG already!

In an address at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, Jawad said Afghanistan welcomed President Obama's strategy review for Afghanistan. He said it would allow the United States and its allies a chance to correct errors that have left the Taliban able to challenge Afghan and Western forces in several southeastern provinces - and making them less likely to want to negotiate.

Jawad, who was named Afghan envoy to Washington in December 2003, said.... "We don't have enough boots on the ground."

Whose WE?

He said the new strategy, which Obama and leaders of European Union countries will review at a summit in Prague next month, needs to do a better job of building a regional approach that draws in Pakistan effectively. He said the new elected government in Pakistan had much better ties with Afghanistan than the previous regime of President Pervez Musharraf, a promising development for a concerted push against the Taliban, who operate on both sides of the border.

Yup, DRAW THEM INTO IT!!

However, he added, the Obama administration's suggestions of being willing to negotiate more directly with the Taliban pose significant risks if the negotiations are not handled well. Successful negotiations with the Taliban require knowing who is the real enemy, and what concessions can be made.

Well, we KNOW who the "real enemy" is (Al-CIA-Duh)!!!!

And why does PEACE always pose RISK -- as if WAR does NOT?

He said there was no point in negotiating with "the ideological Taliban," who are allied with Al Qaeda. "This ideological group will not rest until they eliminate the West and their allies - us," Jawad said. "For this group, talk will not lead us anywhere."

Sigh! Then it CAN'T HURT, right?

It was also pointless to negotiate with "the paycheck Taliban," he said. Those are the young men who have no education and no hope and have been brainwashed by the Taliban. "There's no need to talk with them. They just need a job."

I swear they are just like U.S. soldiers, but that can't be, right?

However, negotiations could succeed with mid-level militias that have been recruited by drug traffickers or who are unhappy about NATO operations, he said. "This group can be reconciled - through dialogue, through buying off, through bribery, coercion. We can bring them over."

Yeah, the DRUG DEALERS can be NEGOTIATED WITH!!!

Good God, America, please tell me you are not that stoo-pid!!!

See: NATO to Ignore Drug Smuggling in Afghanistan

That was ONE REASON for INVADING!! Taliban had TURNED OFF the GLOBALISTS' SPIGOT!!!

Jawad said the Afghan government, the United States, and NATO countries all have to work together carefully in approaching the Taliban to avoid giving confused signals or suggesting weakness. That would merely encourage the Taliban to hold on, in the expectation that the West doesn't have the staying power to see the process through.

The truth is THEY ARE and WE DON'T!! Time to COME HOME, America!

NOW!!!!!!

He gave a pointed critique of the initial handling of the war. He said the United States and the international community "chose a light footprint," and said the rebuilding initiatives that followed the fall of the Taliban were "very uncoordinated, very ad hoc, and parallel institutions were created without much planning or coordination." At the same time, he said, "too much trust was placed in Pakistan's military dictatorship."

Oh, we don't talk about the past around here, sir. We just looks forwards to the future!
