The Auditing of Afghanistan

"Office overseeing rebuilding criticized; US senators decry staffing, auditing" by Richard Lardner, Associated Press | December 10, 2009

WASHINGTON - The US office overseeing Afghanistan’s rebuilding has failed to hire enough staff and issued too few audits and investigative reports, three senators are telling President Obama.

That's why war looting is good business to get.

The office of the special inspector general for Afghanistan reconstruction, headed by a retired Marine Corps general, Arnold Fields, lacks leadership and focus at a time when aggressive, independent oversight is more important than ever, they said in a letter sent Tuesday to Obama.

In a statement, Fields said the Dec. 8 letter from Senators Claire McCaskill, a Democrat from Missouri; Susan M. Collins, a Republican from Maine; and Tom Coburn, a Republican from Oklahoma, paints an inaccurate picture. The office “started from scratch with minimal funding,’’ Fields said, adding that he has formed an experienced team that is helping to improve the reconstruction effort.

Yeah, don't worry about all that tax loot disappearing down black holes, American taxpayers. Just go back to eating your bowl of MSM breakfast s***.

The inspector general’s office is responsible for monitoring a broad range of projects, including training of the Afghan Army and police, and ensuring US tax dollars are spent properly.

What a JOKE!

Congress created the office in 2008, nearly seven years after US forces invaded Afghanistan....

Oh, they start looking into it after the horse has taken the money and run from the barn, huh?

The criticism of Fields’s office was made as the Obama administration escalates the US mission in Afghanistan to stabilize the government and roll back the Taliban insurgency.

But corruption within President Hamid Karzai’s government and the primitive state of much of the country’s infrastructure have led to concerns the goals might not be met even with more money and people. According to the most recent quarterly report to Congress from Fields’s office, the United States has committed $39 billion since 2002 for reconstruction programs in Afghanistan. That figure is expected to hit $50 billion in 2010.

Don't you wish you could get that money back, taxpayers?

Without vigorous oversight by an experienced staff, the senators say, the rebuilding of Afghanistan will run into the same problems that occurred in Iraq, where nearly $50 billion was spent on reconstruction projects marred by waste and fraud....

The ONLY WAY to END the LOOTING is to CUT OFF THE MONEY!!

NO MORE WARS and NO MORE EMPIRES!!!!

Of particular concern is the inability to hire investigators and auditors working in the office overseeing Iraq’s reconstruction. As that effort winds down, those employees should be looking for new opportunities.’’

"Afghanistan contractors work with little oversight

WASHINGTON - The growing number of contractors in Afghanistan is outpacing the ability to oversee them, raising concerns that the waste and fraud that marred the US mission in Iraq will be repeated, lawmakers said yesterday.

Say GOODBYE to ALL THAT TAX LOOT, America!!

Good thing you have no troubles here, huh?

Senator Claire McCaskill, Democrat of Missouri, said there are more than 100,000 Defense Department contractors in Afghanistan and that figure could grow to 160,000 to support the surge of US troops ordered by President Obama this month.

That is NOT the kind of CHANGE you wanted, was it, America?

But McCaskill, who heads the Senate contracting oversight subcommittee, said the evidence suggests that the hard lessons learned in Iraq are not being applied in Afghanistan....

This is really heartbreaking to see the American public get took like this; however, they deserve it. They are not out in the streets (I'll grant them that because of the cold), but inside caring about the game. And I will unhappily take part in the social activity so as to not make waves.

Senator Paul Kirk, Democrat of Massachusetts, questioned how US taxpayers can be sure their money will be used wisely in Afghanistan, where there is a “culture of corruption.’’

Why don't you KNOCK off the RACISM and SMELL YOUR OWN WAR-PROFITEER S*** PILE, senator!

Quit complaining and STOP FUNDING the s***!!!!
