You gotta love the names they come up with for these things -- and that's about all.
"Dozen arrested in New Bedford drug, gun ring
BOSTON --Investigators say they have arrested a dozen people and are seeking another dozen in connection with an alleged illegal drug and gun ring in the New Bedford area. Bristol Country District Attorney Sam Sutter said Friday that coordinated raids Thursday helped authorities seize two dozen illegal firearms, around 200 grams of cocaine and more than $50,000 in cash. He said the six-month wiretap investigation, called "Operation Lightning Bolt," also netted several vehicles and other narcotics. Among those charged is Paul Pereira, of New Bedford. Police say the 35-year-old, who faces a number of charges, was the leader of the illegal drug distribution ring in the New Bedford area. It is unclear if Pereira had hired an attorney Friday.

"Seven arrested in downtown drug sweep
Police said they swept through the Boston Common and Theatre District on Saturday, arresting seven people on drug-related charges. Calling it Operation Common Cure, police said they were attempting to address “quality-of-life concerns’’ that adversely affect the neighborhood. Five of the seven arrested were from Boston, one was from Taunton, and one from Revere. They were arrested for either possession or distribution of Class B drugs, a category that includes crack, cocaine, LSD, and OxyContin. Police described the area as having a high volume of drug traffic and said they conduct similar operations periodically to crack down on any growth in sales and use in the area.

Now those are the kind of sweeps you WANT to see!
That's what they should be doing!
Now if only the CIA would quit running the s***.
Time to sweep up in front of the store:
"Businesses recruited in anticrime push
Officials in Fitchburg are teaming up with business owners in an effort to curb drug dealing, gangs, and prostitution. Members of District Attorney Joseph Early’s office will meet tomorrow with Fitchburg business owners and community leaders to discuss ways to combat what they see as increased illicit behavior in the downtown area. Rich DiCato, owner of the Flesh by Design tattoo parlor, said it is not uncommon to see drug dealers and prostitutes roaming Main Street during daylight hours. Assistant District Attorney Jeff Travers said his office has received a federal grant aimed at training law enforcement officials to create ways to reduce crime (AP)."
Of course, Boston cops have plenty of other things to do:
Got time to cruise the strip, bust brothels, hang out in bars, buy drugs, and worry about cellphones while ROBBERIES, RAPES, and MURDERS go UNSOLVED!!!
And that "good Samaritan" you thought you saw?
“Earlier this month, police wrapped up a 30-day sting involving plainclothes officers mimicking tourists and other pedestrians. Once they were panhandled, they essentially became victims guaranteed to show up for a trial”
Why not HELP OUT the PANHANDLERS and SOLVE the PROBLEM?
No, they just add to it:
"College police officers plead guilty to theft
Prosecutors say two former Wentworth Institute of Technology police officers have pleaded guilty to stealing global positioning and surveying equipment worth about $40,000 while patrolling the Boston campus at night. The Suffolk district attorney’s office said Jonathan Carroll Jr., 28, and Jay Cunha, 27, were sentenced yesterday to 30 days of probation after investigators used serial numbers to track the items on the online auction site
That's all?
Carroll and Cunha each pleaded guilty to one count of larceny of over $250. All items were returned. Prosecutors said a witness who had bought a GPS unit confirmed he had bought it from Carroll and gave police serial numbers for other items stolen from the campus last August (AP)."
So that absolves the theft of jail time?
Well, TURNABOUT is FAIR PLAY!
"College police chief’s car is stolen
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!
The blue lights inside the car apparently did not stop thieves from stealing the unmarked cruiser used by the Wellesley College police chief. Wellesley police Sergeant Marie Cleary said detectives are working with college police on the case. College spokeswoman Elizabeth Gildersleeve said somebody broke into the house of Lisa J. Barbin, the college’s police chief, taking her cellphone, some cash, and her keys. They also took the cruiser outside, which was a dark-colored 2008 Ford Taurus.
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!!
