"Abortion dispute threatens overhaul; Pivotal senators balk at language in health deal" by Susan Milligan, Globe Staff | December 8, 2009

WASHINGTON - The battle over abortion is threatening to derail the health care overhaul package in the Senate, as liberals refuse to accept new abortion restrictions demanded by key moderates, who say that without the limits, they are inclined to vote against the overall bill....

Without moderate Democrats.... it will be very difficult for Democratic leaders to collect the 60-vote supermajority needed for passage....

"Before the bill could reach the floor, however, top House Democrats and Treasury Department officials had to huddle in Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s offices into the evening to quell dissatisfaction by party centrists who sought to change some of the bill’s tougher provisions."

So how come Pelsoi and the Democrats never worry about offending liberals, huh?

How does that make you guys feel -- being betrayed by your leaders?

The fight underscores the delicate nature of the final negotiations on the health care package, which Democratic leaders hope to finish before their holiday recess. With liberals fighting for a strong government-sponsored “public option’’ to compete with private insurers, moderates pushing for diminished government involvement, and all but a few Republicans expected to vote against the final package anyway, Democratic negotiators are anxiously seeking compromises that will make most people happy - or at least, satisfied enough to vote for the final bill.

Yeah, WHO CARES if it is a s*** bill!

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, increasingly frustrated by what he sees as Republican delaying tactics, delivered a harsh summation of the health care debate to his colleagues yesterday, comparing the battle to the struggles against slavery and for women’s suffrage.

PFFFFFTTT!!!!

“Instead of joining us on the right side of history, all Republicans have come up with is this: ‘Slow down, stop everything, let’s start over.’ You think you’ve heard these same excuses before, you’re right,’’ Reid said on the Senate floor. “In this country, there were those who dug in their heels and said, ‘Slow down, it’s too early, let’s wait - things aren’t bad enough about slavery.’

Yeah, well, seeing as you shit-bags have RUSHED US INTO WARS and TYRANNY, who can blame them?

And to use the RACE and GENDER cards is REALLY CLASSLESS, Reid!!!!

That is when you KNOW they are LOSING, when they start hauling out cudgels like "history!!!!"

“When women wanted to vote, ‘Slow down, there will be a better day to do that,’ ’’ the Nevada Democrat added. His comments echoed the tamer remarks made by Massachusetts Democratic Senator Paul Kirk and others who have put the health care bill in the same historic category as civil rights. But Republicans took offense at Reid’s suggestion that they were comparable to defenders of slavery and women’s oppression....

Scrambling for a compromise on the creation of a public health insurance option, a group of 10 senators - five moderates and five liberals - is considering a proposal that would require the government to negotiate with insurers to establish national nonprofit plans, according to senators and an aide with knowledge of the talks. To appease liberals, senators are considering other ideas designed to make insurance more affordable.

Are you TIRED of being TREATED like SHIT, liberals!!

Possibilities include covering more people through Medicaid, the government program for the poor, and allowing people age 55 to 65 to pay their own premiums to “buy in’’ to Medicare, which now covers Americans 65 and older....

Can YOU afford $145 a WEEK?

"Democrats temper public option; Reid suggests accord clears way to pass health bill" by Lisa Wangsness, Globe Staff | December 9, 2009

WASHINGTON - Senate negotiators reached a tentative deal last night to drop a full-fledged government-run insurance plan from the health care overhaul bill and replace it with a patchwork of new ideas to help people get coverage, according to a Democratic Senate staffer.

The deal might remove one of the biggest stumbling blocks to passage. Senate majority leader Harry Reid announced that a team of 10 liberal and moderate Democrats had reached “broad agreement’’ on a compromise that would allow Senate Democrats to move the bill forward.

Reid did not provide details, saying he wants congressional budget analysts to determine its cost. But he implied it could garner the 60 votes required to clear the way for passage. “The question is . . . is the end in sight?’’ Reid said, responding to a reporter at a brief press conference. “The answer is yes.’’

Heard it here first!

One new provision would require the US Office of Personnel Management, which oversees the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, to negotiate with private insurers to offer national nonprofit plans in each state.

Why don't you just LET the STATES DO THEIR OWN THING and BUTT OUT then?!

The plan would also let middle-aged people who cannot get affordable coverage through work buy into Medicare, the staffer said. Liberals senators said yesterday that they had pushed the Medicare buy-in as one way to achieve some of the goals the government run plan would have....

So EVEN THEY do not have YOUR INTERESTS at heart, America!

And don't buy any of this uncertainty bit.

Just like the House debate, they will tell us it
looks bleak, then be shocked when it is an unexpected success! It's what I call s*** fooleys for public consumption.

"Senate health bill stalls as costs are figured; Budget office looks at plan; Public option not dead yet" by Lisa Wangsness, Globe Staff | December 10, 2009

WASHINGTON - Senator Patrick Leahy told reporters yesterday that he his wife have canceled their plans to spend Christmas at their farmhouse in Vermont, reluctantly concluding that the Senate would probably be stuck in Washington working on its massive health care package right up until the holiday.

That will be your CHRISTMAS PRESENT, America: Your NEW HEALTH TAX!

Emerging from yet another meeting of Senate Democrats on the latest changes under discussion, Leahy gazed sorrowfully at the reporters surrounding him. “And I have to tell you that hurts,’’ he said. “We just called the people we get our Christmas trees from every year and told them to ship it down here. . . . Sorry.’’

Yeah, it is ALL ABOUT THEM!! What ARROGANCE!!!

A day after majority leader Harry Reid announced that liberals and moderates had reached a broad agreement on one of the most controversial aspects of the plan - whether to establish a government-run insurance program - momentum for the bill appeared to have accelerated. But the details were still not clear, even to many senators....

Yeah, MOMENTUM BUILT for something that NO ONE KNOWS!!!

This did not stop President Obama from heartily endorsing the Senate agreement yesterday....

He DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT IS IN IT -- and probably DOESN'T CARE as long as he gets his HEALTH TAX so he can pay interest on the debt!!!!

Democratic leaders kept mum about specifics, and Reid did not give senators a full account at last night’s caucus meeting, because he said he first wanted congressional budget analysts to determine how much each provision would cost....

The tentative deal calls for dropping the government-run plan originally in the bill and replacing it with several proposals designed to provide consumers with more affordable insurance choices and force insurers to face stronger competition. One provision would have the federal government negotiate with private insurers to offer national nonprofit plans in every state.

Yup, you will HAVE to buy a PRIVATE PLAN from CRAPPY CORPORATIONS or PAY a TAX!!!!!!

Another would allow people between ages 55 and 64 to buy into Medicare if they could not get affordable coverage through work, possibly as soon as 2011. The plan would also bolster community health centers, which provide care for low-income and rural populations, senators said....

Sounds so good, doesn't it, America?

One would never know you are getting f***ed!!

Although Reid said Tuesday night that the public option is not gone from the bill, and there is much speculation that it somehow leaves the door open for the federal government to get more directly involved in the insurance markets under certain circumstances, senators said almost nothing about that provision yesterday....

Liberal groups reacted with disgust to the Senate’s apparent shift away from the public option. MoveOn sent an email to its members that began: “What have they done?’’

Rejecting a government-run insurance program may set up a showdown with the House, which included a public option in the bill it passed last month. But US Representative Ed Markey, a Democrat from Malden and a strong public option proponent, said he would wait to see the details of the Senate plan before commenting on it.

“The test for us will be whether the bill extends affordable health coverage to millions of Americans and protects people’’ from insurance company abuses, Markey said.

Senator John Kerry, Democrat of Massachusetts and another fervent supporter of the public option, said he believed Reid was right to say a form of public option remained in the bill, even though Kerry added it was not his first preference.

We are where we are,’’ Kerry said. “We have 60 votes representing 60 very different parts of the country. And this is what legislating is about. You get down to those last moments, and you have to be willing to make some compromises.’’

Translation: YOU DON'T MATTER, liberals!!!!
