"Taunton man shot, killed in Brockton" by Jeremy C. Fox and Aneri Pattani, Globe Correspondents  February 26, 2015

A 23-year-old Taunton man died after being shot in Brockton Thursday morning, authorities said.

Manny Junior Andrade was a passenger in a vehicle that had stopped at about 10:39 a.m. in the area of 133 North Main St. in Brockton, where a uniformed police officer from another town was working a detail, according to Bridget Norton Middleton, a spokeswoman for Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz.

Andrade, who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the face, Cruz said in a statement, was taken by emergency medical personnel to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

A Mercedes riddled with bullet holes and with its back window shattered was visible at the scene. The area was blocked off with yellow police tape, and a tent was placed over evidence.

Chenet Sam, owner of the Spot Bar & Lounge at 133 North Main St., said no one was present at the nightclub Thursday morning.

Sam said some of his tenants in the apartments upstairs had been home, but none had seen what happened because the shooting occurred at another location.

“That was the end to something that happened on the side street somewhere,” Sam said.

Brockton police have attempted to contact Sam to access surveillance video from security cameras at the bar, he said.

The cause of death will be determined by an autopsy, according to Cruz.

State Police detectives assigned to Cruz’s office are investigating the death in cooperation with Brockton police.

Investigators request that anyone with information about Andrade’s death contact them.

No further information was available Thursday.
