Globe Goes Off Script

They ran this piece of self-aggrandizing, self-adulating $hit on page B2:

"Plane carrying 6 million pieces of protective equipment arrives in New Hampshire" by Abigail Feldman Globe Correspondent, April 12, 2020

A plane carrying more than 6 million pieces of protective equipment, purchased from China to fight the spread of the coronavirus, arrived in Manchester, N.H., on Sunday afternoon, New Hampshire officials said.

If you read the Globe yesterday you know they are in the process of being recalled for defects.

The 91,000-pound shipment, secured with the help of acclaimed inventor Dean Kamen, arrived on a FedEx plane after departing Shanghai on Saturday night, officials said during a press conference at the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport.

Isn't it great that the ma$ter race is there for us?

New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu called the plane’s arrival “a great Easter present.”

“We’re going to get it out the door as fast as we can," Sununu said during the televised conference. "We’re going to fill our stockpiles, and at the end of the day, truly live up to the commitment that we have stated — that everyone that needs PPE in the state is going to have PPE.”

The shipment included 6.6 million masks, 50,000 face shields, and 24,000 Tyvek coveralls, Sununu said in a tweet.

He is not worried about quality at all? Sure makes for a good photo op and campaign use, though.

The state will pay about $5 million for the supplies, originally purchased by Kamen, Sununu said. He added that he hoped the delivery would be the first of many.

“We’re in this for the long-haul,” he said. “As much as this is on this plane, were still going to need more.”

Kamen, a New Hampshire resident who is best known for inventing the Segway, thanked several people for their help, including Sununu, Senator Jeanne Shaheen, and FedEx founder Frederick Smith.

Shaheen, who was also present at the press conference, said the arrival of the supplies was a great example of collaboration between the private and public sectors, as well as among state, local, and federal authorities. She also thanked New Hampshire’s essential workers, including truck drivers, grocery store employees, and health care workers, for helping the state continue to function.

This is starting to stink to high heaven!

These f***ing political puppets are nothing more than soulless collaborators taking orders from their ma$ters. Party no longer matters, and never really did.

“This is the season of Easter and Passover,” she said. “It’s a time of hope and renewal. [F]or all of those people who are affected with COVID-19, this could be the difference between success and failure, and, dealing with this pandemic, between life and death.”

Oh, she makes me want to puke!

Distribution of supplies will begin immediately on a need-basis, Sununu said. A census that was distributed to healthcare facilities across the state will help determine where supplies are sent.

Some of the equipment will also go to neighboring states, he said. Already, he has begun working with the governors of Vermont and Maine.

Kamen is not the first philanthropist to use his influence to deliver protective gear during the coronavirus pandemic. At the beginning of April, the Kraft family used the New England Patriots team plane to deliver about one million masks from China to health care workers in Massachusetts. Governor Charlie Baker reached out to the Krafts after a shipment of more than 3 million masks was confiscated by the federal government.....

That damn Trump, right?

I mean, Kraft likes him, but that doesn't seem to matter as much to the Globe.

"Medical workers share concerns about masks delivered by Patriots plane" by Dugan Arnett Globe Staff, April 12, 2020

It was a rare moment of celebration in a season of misery: The New England Patriots team plane touching down at Logan Airport April 2 with a massive cargo of scarce respirator masks for front-line health care workers who were trying to save lives, but like so much else in this global pandemic, the ensuing reality has proven to be more complex.

PFFFFT!

There is NOTHING COMPLEX about REALITY!

The TRUTH is the TRUTH!

The worst part about it?

It's the pre$$ that is saying that. That means they exist to obfuscate reality by any means necessary; in other words, EVIL!

As well-intended and carefully executed as the covert mission to China had been, at least some and possibly many of the roughly one-million protective masks on the team plane were not the time-tested, industry-standard N95 masks that medical workers wear when treating coronavirus patients. Rather, they were a Chinese version known as a KN95 mask that some hospitals in Boston and beyond have so far declined to use and remain reluctant about today.

If you read the Globe yesterday you know they are in the process of being recalled for defects.

The state did not respond to questions about what was actually on the plane or how it has been distributed, though one local hospital administrator said he heard that about half the shipment had been sent to area nursing homes.

They only share case and death total like it was a scoreboard!

It remained unclear Friday whether Governor Charlie Baker, who on multiple occasions has referred to the masks as N95s, was aware that at least some of them were not. In response to a list of questions regarding the masks, Baker’s office offered a one-sentence reply.

“The administration is grateful for the teamwork of the Kraft family and several others to help deliver this generous shipment of FDA-approved masks to Massachusetts, and other states, for our front-line health care workers,” said Baker spokeswoman Elizabeth Guyton in an e-mail, but even as the spread of COVID-19 has left some cities facing shortages of personal protective gear, the KN95 mask had emerged as a divisive topic in the medical world.

You just have to shake your head at the nonresponse after lauding the PR effort. This whole house of cards is collapsing like the WTC towers and the economy. The charade can only be maintained for so long.

As for the division, I'm convinced now all the carping at China is for public consumption. Blame China so we will be ready for war when this thing really shits the bed this summer.

I'm not saying China is great, far from it; however, they are past this and resuming life. What I have noticed is every goddamn government the world over is using COVID-19 to further repress and control its citizens. They are all on board with the scam.

State Senator Becca Rausch, a Democrat who represents Norfolk, Bristol, and Middlesex counties and is a former attorney with the state’s Health and Human Services Department, said she has been hearing from health care professionals both inside and outside her district who say masks they have received from the shipment don’t fit properly and aren’t safe for use with COVID-19 patients.

“When I heard this, I was floored,” she said. “The whole Commonwealth — the whole world — sort of breathed a sigh of relief when these masks showed up, and they’re useless for the purpose for which they were brought here."

Better return them to sender and mark the return courtesy of Kushner (those must have been faulty as well).

Christine Pontus, associate director of health and safety for the Massachusetts Nurses Association, said that the fit of the KN95 has been an issue, and in an interview earlier this month with CNN, Steven Corwin, CEO of New York-Presbyterian Hospital, one of the country’s largest health care systems, offered a stark rebuke of the KN95 masks following testing, calling them “too porous” and “just not good.”

“They don’t work," Corwin told the outlet.

Cheap Chinese $hit, right?

Who outsourced all the manufacturing to them anyway?

He softened his stance in a more recent CNN interview, saying, “We were worried about the KN95 masks, because there were so many that were counterfeit. We think that a number of those are now being certified, so that’s now better.”

Oh, for Christ's sakes!

What happen, Kraft give him a call?

It is believed that the Baker administration arranged for the purchase of the state’s masks, and the Kraft family supplied the transportation. Asked about the masks, a spokesman for the Krafts issued a statement to the Globe saying, “The governor has shown great leadership in helping our courageous health care heroes with the acquisition of 1.4 million FDA and CDC approved medical masks. We were privileged to have partnered with him to provide the logistical support to expedite the delivery of the masks and we are happy to split the cost to lessen the Commonwealth’s financial obligation in these unthinkable times.”

Jonathan Kraft, the oldest of Robert Kraft’s four children, is also the chair of the Mass. General board of trustees.

It is yet unclear how many of the masks from the Commonwealth’s shipment have reached local facilities. As of midweek, Mass. General, Brigham and Women’s, and Boston Children’s had not received any N95 masks from the shipment.

Jeremy Lechan, a spokesman for Tufts Medical Center, said the hospital had received 2,000 KN95 masks from the shipment but that none is currently being used by hospital employees.

“We are assessing the masks, and determining how best to utilize them moving forward,” he said.....

WTF?

He's off script!

"A Georgia man was charged with fraud after attempting to sell millions of nonexistent respirator masks to the government as it struggles to shore up supplies of vital medical equipment during the coronavirus pandemic, the authorities said. The man, Christopher Parris, 39, of Atlanta, was arrested Friday and charged with wire fraud in federal court in Washington, the Justice Department said in a statement. Parris was accused of making a series of fraudulent misrepresentations to secure orders that would have totaled more than $750 million from the Department of Veterans Affairs for 125 million face masks and other personal protective equipment. Parris promised he could obtain “millions of genuine 3M masks” from domestic factories “when he knew that fulfilling the orders would not be possible,” the authorities said. The manufacturer 3M, which is based in Minnesota, produces surgical masks and respirators that have been in high demand since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis. Through a series of misrepresentations, Parris claimed to act as a supplier who could quickly obtain the protective equipment and supplies. The offer to Veterans Affairs came from a person at a Louisiana-based company who said it sells industrial safety supplies and identified Parris and his company, Encore Health Group, as one of its suppliers, according to an affidavit (New York Times)."

"A federal internal watchdog is corroborating warnings by governors and front-line health care workers that hospitals’ ability to combat the coronavirus pandemic is being impeded by shortages of tests, protective gear, staff, and space, as well as inconsistent government advice. Some hospitals are so desperate for protective masks that they are scrounging them from auto body shops and nail salons, according to a report by the Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services. At least one hospital is making its own hand sanitizer by mixing gel used for ultrasounds with alcohol from a distillery, the report said. The report is the first public federal critique of the capacity of the nation’s hospitals to cope with the flood of infected patients in coronavirus hot spots. In substantiating complaints about inadequate equipment, it counters assertions by President Trump that hospitals and state officials advocating for them are merely being greedy. The report’s findings are based on a survey of 343 hospitals spanning 46 states. It was conducted during five days at the end of March (Washington Post)."

They need to talk to a Mr. Baruch Feldheim then.

"As health officials around the world push to get more ventilators to treat coronavirus patients, some doctors are moving away from using the breathing machines when they can. The reason: Some hospitals have reported unusually high death rates for coronavirus patients on ventilators, and some doctors worry that the machines could be harming certain patients. The evolving treatments highlight the fact that doctors are still learning the best way to manage a virus that emerged only months ago. They are relying on anecdotal, real-time data amid a crush of patients and shortages of basic supplies. Generally speaking, 40 percent to 50 percent of patients with severe respiratory distress die while on ventilators, specialists say, but 80 percent or more of coronavirus patients placed on the machines in New York City have died, state and city officials say. Higher-than-normal death rates also have been reported elsewhere in the United States, China, and Britain (Associated Press)."

They conveniently left the doctor anonymous because he went off script and was the first inkling of a 5G problem.

Two emergency nurses left Boston Children’s shift to find their cars broken into"

The break-ins came as nurses, doctors, and first responders come under intense pressure while COVID-19 continues to spread, and when they have been publicly lauded for their efforts.

Expect a lot more of that as people who are out of work and desperate make their way onto the streets along with the convicts they are freeing from jails.

"Three men were arrested for allegedly breaking and entering a closed Downtown Crossing store Saturday morning, according to Boston police. Boston police officers who were patrolling the area around 10 a.m. were flagged down by a “concerned citizen” near Washington Street and Summer Street, saying three men were seen entering a nearby store known to be closed due to the ban on non-essential businesses, police said in a statement. When the officers approached the store at 411 Washington Street, they saw a man exiting the building, and stopped him. They then went into the business, where they found two more men who were allegedly rummaging through items behind the front counter, and detained him. Simone Costa, 63, of Boston, James Wallace, 59, of Boston, and Michael Hanley, 58, of Cambridge were placed in police custody. All three will appear in Boston Municipal Court on charges of daytime non-residential breaking and entering, the statement said. No further information was immediately available."

Has the "concerned citizen" not been out there then what?

"A 27-year-old man died after he was stabbed at an apartment complex in Somerville on Saturday, according to the Middlesex district attorney’s office. Police found Kesner Junior Lubin suffering from stab wounds after responding to Clarendon Hill Towers along Alewife Brook Parkway around 3:50 p.m., officials said in a statement. Lubin was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities believe Lubin may have been involved in a verbal altercation with another resident at the complex, 26-year-old Washington Assis-Rodrigues, when the fight turned physical. Assis-Rodrigues remained at the scene and was arrested for assault and battery causing serious bodily injury, and may face additional charges, officials said. He will be arraigned by teleconference Monday at Somerville District Court. The stabbing remains under investigation by local and state officials."

Why was he taken to MGH when they are loaded with COVID?

Yeah, you better stay locked in.

"A person died in a Sunday morning house fire in Nantucket, the local fire department said in a statement. A patrolling Nantucket police officer discovered a fire at a residence on Old South Road around 2:22 a.m., according to the statement. Officers were able to remove a person from the building, but the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Firefighters extinguished the first-floor blaze, which left extensive damage, according to the statement. State Police, the Nantucket Fire Department, and Nantucket police are investigating the matter, according to the statement. Investigators with the state arrived on the island Sunday, Nantucket Fire Chief Steve Murphy said in an e-mail. Further details were not immediately available."

"Euro area may suffer a deeper recession than rest of world, central bank VP says" by Oliver Sachgau and Piotr Skolimowski Bloomberg News, April 12, 2020

Europe is likely to experience a more severe recession than the rest of the world and might not show proper signs of recovery until next year, according to European Central Bank vice president Luis de Guindos.

Economic prospects are worsening as governments across the 19-nation euro area extend lockdowns to rein in the coronavirus.

The ECB is injecting unprecedented amounts of monetary stimulus into the economy, paying banks to borrow to ensure credit keeps flowing to companies and households. Policy makers also committed to buying more than 1 trillion euros ($1.1 trillion) of debt.

They are paying banks to borrow to keep credit flowing to people who will not be able to pay back the loans. Some might call it a $hell game.

European governments are also stepping up. After making available hundreds of billions of euros individually to support their own economies, finance ministers have agreed on a joint 540 billion-euro package.

“With all these measures now in play, Europe is better equipped to respond to this unprecedented crisis,” Guindos said.

Yeah, with governments $tepping up, what could go wrong?

His Governing Council colleague Gabriel Makhlouf, who heads the Irish central bank, said in a Business Post interview that “greater action” is needed — be it by issuing coronabonds orsomething new that comes out from the European Commission.”

In the future, Irish leaders who were hated will be loved, and the bonds will be like any other bond, but you know, a turd by any other name....

Investors are already concerned that countries’ increased bond issuance to fund loan and guarantee programs as well as other measures will be the beginning of a new debt crisis.

Hey, they are off script!

Guindos said additional government spending to counter the impact of the virus could be as high as 1.5 trillion euros — “an amount the likes of which we’ve probably never seen before.”

At the same time, he stressed that debt levels in the euro area are sustainable.

“When this crisis is over, economic conditions will get back to normal,” he said. “We are not looking at any scenarios where this debt is a problem. It’s not a scenario I’m considering.”

Then he is willfully delu$ional, huh, or are all the bankers $itting pretty now?

They need the price of oil to go up:

"Oil producers agree to cut production, end price war" by Javier Blas, Salma El Wardany and Grant Smith Bloomberg News, April 12, 2020

The world’s top oil producers pulled off a historic deal to cut global petroleum output by nearly 10 percent, putting an end to the devastating price war between Saudi Arabia and Russia.

After a weeklong marathon of bilateral calls and four days of video conferences with government ministers from around the world — including the OPEC+ alliance and Group of 20 nations — an agreement emerged to tackle the impact of the global pandemic on demand.

The talks almost fell apart because of resistance from Mexico, but came back from the brink after a weekend of urgent diplomacy, including the intervention of President Trump, who helped broker the solution.

They are way off script now!

Trump getting credit for a deal!

“Unprecedented measures for unprecedented times,” said Ed Morse, a veteran oil-watcher who is head of commodities research at Citigroup. “Unprecedented in historical discussions of production cuts, the US played a critical role in brokering between Saudi Arabia and Russia for the new OPEC+ accord.”

Mexico won a diplomatic victory as it will only cut 100,000 barrels, less than its pro-rated share, having blocked the deal since the plan was revealed on Thursday.

So Trump wasn't able to get them over a barrel, and the Mexicans must be part of the ma$ter race!

“We have demonstrated that OPEC+ is up and alive,” Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman told Bloomberg News minutes after he clinched the deal. “I’m more than happy with the deal,” he added.

With the virus paralyzing air and ground travel, demand for gasoline, jet fuel, and diesel is collapsing. That threatened the future of the US shale industry and the stability of oil-dependent states and squeezed the flow of petrodollars through an ailing global economy.

Oh, so Trump was simply saving them and the petrobuck by which we control the sale of oil and get a cut, and the demand will still not be there as long as this forced shutdown continues -- and continue it will, for it is designed to never be lifted until the entire world has a certificate of immunity and continues to take your shots.

Even though Moscow and Riyadh put their differences aside, the biggest winner appears to be Trump, who refused to actively cut American oil production and brokered the deal over phone calls with Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and King Salman of Saudi Arabia.

“Perhaps what’s most remarkable about Saudi Arabia and Russia delivering one of the largest supply cuts ever is that the person who brought them back together and pressured hardest to cut was historically OPEC’s harshest critic, President Trump,” said Jason Bordoff, a former White House official during the Obama administration and now at Columbia University.

I'm sick of former Obama administration officials being endlessly quoted in my pre$$, and is Bloomberg ever off script with this one!

Trump became the first US president to push for higher oil prices in more than 30 years, reversing his personal opposition to the cartel.

“I hated OPEC. You want to know the truth? I hated it. Because it was a fix,” Trump told reporters last week, “but somewhere along the line that broke down and went the opposite way.”

The production restraints are set to last for about two years, though not at the same level as the initial two months. Copying the model adopted by central banks to taper off their bond buying, OPEC will also reduce the size of the cuts over time.

That was then, this is now. The Fed is buying up all sorts of debt-loaded crap, everything in sight.

The question now for the oil market is whether the cuts will be enough to throw a floor under prices as demand for energy craters. After the outline of the deal was announced on Thursday, oil prices in New York fell more than 9 percent as traders thought the cuts weren’t large enough.

With countries around the world extending their lockdowns, the death toll mounting in New York, and unemployment exploding in America, the oil market is now far more worried about consumption than supply. OPEC itself acknowledged the challenge, with its chief warning ministers demand fundamentals were “horrifying.”

The global-warmers have won!

Some people just can't Reade their lines:

"Examining Tara Reade’s sexual assault allegation against Joe Biden" by Lisa Lerer and Sydney Ember New York Times, April 12, 2020

WASHINGTON — A former Senate aide who last year accused Joe Biden of inappropriate touching has made an allegation of sexual assault against the former vice president, the Democratic Party’s presumptive presidential nominee.

The former aide, Tara Reade, who briefly worked as a staff assistant in Biden’s Senate office, told The New York Times that in 1993, Biden pinned her to a wall in a Senate building, reached under her clothing, and penetrated her with his fingers. A friend said that Reade told her the details of the allegation at the time. Another friend and a brother of Reade’s said she told them over the years about a traumatic sexual incident involving Biden.

After MeToo, you have to believe the woman, right?

Right?

A spokeswoman for Biden said the allegation was false. In interviews, several people who worked in the Senate office with Reade said they did not recall any talk of such an incident or similar behavior by Biden toward her or any women. Two interns who worked directly with Reade said they were unaware of the allegation or any treatment that troubled her.

Look at the New York Times searching out all those who can debunk her.

Nothing new. They have been running interference for Creepy Uncle Joe for years.

Last year, Reade and seven other women came forward to accuse Biden of kissing, hugging, or touching them in ways that made them feel uncomfortable. Reade told The Times then that Biden had publicly stroked her neck, wrapped his fingers in her hair, and touched her in ways that made her uncomfortable.

He has a video history of such things, and some seem to indicate pedophilia.

Soon after Reade made the new allegation, in a podcast interview released March 25, The Times began reporting on her account and seeking corroboration through interviews, documents, and other sources. The Times interviewed Reade on multiple days over hours, as well as those she told about Biden’s behavior and other friends. The Times has also interviewed lawyers who spoke to Reade about her allegation; nearly two dozen people who worked with Biden during the early 1990s, including many who worked with Reade; and the other seven women who criticized Biden last year, to discuss their experiences with him.

I wish they were so thorough on other matters of import, like WMDs in Iraq!

No other allegation about sexual assault surfaced in the course of reporting, nor did any former Biden staff members corroborate any details of Reade’s allegation. The Times found no pattern of sexual misconduct by Biden.

Of course not. She is on her own like so many women before her. If her name was Ford they would be rallying to her defense.

On Thursday, Reade filed a report with the Washington, D.C., police, saying she was the victim of a sexual assault in 1993. Reade, who worked as a staff assistant helping manage office interns, said she also filed a complaint with the Senate in 1993 about Biden; she said she did not have a copy of it, and such paperwork has not been located. The Biden campaign said it did not have a complaint. The Times reviewed an official copy of her employment history from the Senate that she provided showing she was hired in December 1992 and paid by Biden’s office until August 1993.

That was so long ago, right?

The seven other women who had complained about Biden told The Times this month that they did not have any new information about their experiences to add, but several said they believed Reade’s account.

Why wouldn't they?

Last year, Biden, 77, acknowledged the women’s complaints about his conduct, saying his intentions were benign and promising to be “more mindful and respectful of people’s personal space.”

Now he has no choice.

Thanks God for the coronavirus, 'eh, ladies?

In response to Reade’s allegation, Kate Bedingfield, a deputy Biden campaign manager, said in a statement, “Vice President Biden has dedicated his public life to changing the culture and the laws around violence against women. He authored and fought for the passage and reauthorization of the landmark Violence Against Women Act. He firmly believes that women have a right to be heard — and heard respectfully. Such claims should also be diligently reviewed by an independent press. What is clear about this claim: It is untrue. This absolutely did not happen.”

Reade made her new allegation public as Biden was closing in on the Democratic presidential nomination after winning a string of primaries against his chief rival, Senator Bernie Sanders. Reade, who describes herself as a “third-generation Democrat,” said she originally favored Marianne Williamson and Senator Elizabeth Warren but voted for Sanders in the California primary last month. She said her decision to come forward had nothing to do with politics or helping Sanders and added that neither his campaign nor the Trump campaign had encouraged her to make her allegation.

The inference is she is doing it for political reasons and might even be a bit off (Williamson?); of course, none of Trump's accusers or those that accuse Republicans ever have such a motive.

President Trump has been accused of sexual assault and misconduct by more than a dozen women, who have described a pattern of behavior that went far beyond the accusations against Biden.....

They bring up Stormy Daniels as they say he's worse than Joe!

"Former vice president Joe Biden won Alaska’s Democratic primary Saturday night, the first nominating contest held since Senator Bernie Sanders dropped out of the race and made Biden the party’s presumptive presidential nominee. With all precincts reporting, Biden won 55 percent of the vote, and Sanders won 45 percent. The state’s primary, which awards 15 pledged delegates, was turned into mail-in voting after concerns of the global coronavirus pandemic scrapped plans for in-person voting sites. Alaska had originally scheduled its primary for April 4, but was among 16 states and Puerto Rico that postponed their voting because of the pandemic. Biden’s hold on the Democratic nomination, long likely since his romp on Super Tuesday, became all but official once Sanders left the race Wednesday. Although several candidates still appeared on Alaska’s ballot, the former vice president is expected to cruise through the remaining primaries."

It all reads like narrative to me, and maybe someone should inspect the exit polls.

"Turkey introduced a new lockdown over the weekend that took many by surprise and led to the resignation late Sunday of Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu. The 48-hour curfew across 31 cities marked a major development in Turkey, which had previously adopted a more relaxed approach to fighting the virus than its neighbors in Europe and the Mideast. Soylu took responsibility for the poorly timed announcement of the weekend curfew that prompted thousands of people to rush into the streets. He is one of the most senior figures in Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s government. In a statement posted on his Twitter account, Soylu said: “Responsibility for implementing the weekend curfew decision, which was aimed at preventing the epidemic, belongs entirely to me.” The lockdowns were announced just two hours before taking effect on Friday night. Thousands of people ran out to stores to stock up on goods, many without wearing face masks. Images of closely bunched crowds sparked criticism of the government’s planning for the lockdowns. Soylu, who was appointed interior minister in August 2016, is the second minister to leave office during the coronavirus crisis following the removal of Transport Minister Mehmet Cahit Turhan two weeks ago. Turkey reported 4,789 cases for a total of 56,956, including 1,198 deaths, as of Sunday (Associated Press)."
