"Obama's traveling forum on healthcare visits Vt.; Patrick, Douglas co-host, back effort" by Lisa Wangsness, Globe Staff | March 18, 2009
BURLINGTON, Vt. - .... Yesterday, presaging what is likely to be a sharp debate within the Democratic Party in the coming months, a good share of the crowd in this liberal state - as well as about 200 protesters outside - enthusiastically cheered for Canadian-style government-run healthcare, or at least an option to buy into a public insurance plan like Medicare.'
You know, if the plan can't be like what I saw in Sicko, then I don't want it.
Obama has said it is not politically feasible to get rid of private insurers, but in his campaign he proposed letting people choose to buy into a public insurance option - something insurers view as potentially fatal to their business.
Not feasible ONLY BECAUSE the INSURANCE COMPANIES DOMINATE the "debate."
And the betrayals just keep coming from 'bamer:

Deborah Richter, a Vermont physician and advocate of a Medicare-for-all style system, said the country can no longer afford to squander precious healthcare dollars on administrative hassles associated with private insurance. If everyone is "deemed worthy" of insurance, then the government should come up with a single benefits package for everyone. "Why would we even need private insurance?" she said.
If you have SEEN SiCKO, you know WE DON'T!
Governor Deval Patrick of Massachusetts, serving as referee, gently suggested that the landmark 2006 Massachusetts healthcare law might offer a different route to the same goal....
Ummm, no, not a good idea:

Massachusetts eventually settled on a kind of hybrid solution that has expanded existing public programs and uses a combination of market reforms, regulations, and subsidies to help lower-income people afford private insurance.
Nancy-Ann DeParle, the point person for healthcare reform at the White House, asked how many people at the forum were uninsured. Only a couple of people raised their hands. The problem with a Medicare-for-all style system, she said, is that most people already have insurance and they just want it to cost less - but they're basically satisfied....
Sigh.

Well, if HEALTH CARE is not the MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE, then WHAT IS?!!
"Vt. legislature weighs OK for gay marriages" by John Curran, Associated Press | March 17, 2009
Pfffffffftttt!
MONTPELIER - Nine years after it was the scene of a bitter fight over civil unions, Vermont's State House is again a gay-rights battleground.
More than 200 opponents to same-sex marriage, cheering and wearing buttons that read "Marriage - A Mother & Father for Every Child," converged on Montpelier yesterday as lawmakers began hearings on a bill that would allow gay and lesbian couples to marry.
I'm surprised they got the coverage.
If the bill is approved, Vermont would join Massachusetts and Connecticut as the only US states that allow same-sex marriage. The measure would replace Vermont's first-in-the-nation civil unions law with one that allows marriage of gay partners beginning Sept. 1. Civil unions, which confer some rights similar to marriage, would still be recognized but would no longer be granted after Sept. 1.
Supporters cast the debate as a civil rights issue, saying the civil unions law enacted by the state in 2000 has fallen short of the equality it promised same-sex couples. The appeal of civil unions has declined, too: In 2001, the state granted 1,876 civil unions, compared with only 262 last year.
Oh, the NOVELTY worn off, has it? Wait until the FUN of DIVORCE, you stoo-pid s***s!!!!
Passing a gay marriage bill "is one of the most important civil rights issues of our time," said Greg Johnson, a Vermont Law School professor who testified yesterday before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Pffffft!
I was thinking of starting with TORTURE and SPYING.
While the bill won't guarantee federal benefits, supporters say it would provide societal recognition, improve access to health benefits, and eliminate one of two obstacles to federal protections such as Social Security survivor benefits.
Oh, so THIS AGENDA-PUSHING CRAP is ALL ABOUT $$$$$!!!
Why am I not surprised!!!
Opponents say gay marriage would undermine traditional male-female marriage, rendering men and women interchangeable and destroying the connection between children and marriage. They want the question put to voters in a referendum.

The truth is, I COULDN'T CARE ANY LESS about this issue!!
We have FAR MORE IMPORTANT THINGS to worry about!!!
But WHY do I OPPOSE the initiative, readers, when it seems so fair?
I ALWAYS OPPOSE MSM AGENDA-PUSHING -- no matter WHAT the ISSUE or ITEM!!
