Selecting a Senator: Coakley Double-Crosses Women

Then why did I waste so much time and effort, readers?

"Coakley accepts curb on abortion coverage" by Lisa Wangsness, Globe Staff | December 21, 2009

WASHINGTON - State Attorney General Martha Coakley, the Democratic nominee for US Senate, reluctantly threw her support yesterday behind the Senate health care bill, even though it contains restrictions on abortion coverage that abortion rights groups are calling unacceptable.

Slight rewrite for the web here.

What my printed paper says:

The statement was a sharp change in the position Coakley took during the primary campaign....

Back to the verbatim:

she insisted that there were some things on which she would not compromise.

But she just went and compromised!

I'm embarrassed; I should have known better.

She should fit right in down there.

Coakley used her stark position on abortion rights to appeal to supporters for donations; in an e-mail, she declared her decision to make her position “a defining moment’’ in her campaign.

Asked last week whether she would vote against a bill that went beyond current law in restricting abortion coverage, Coakley said, “Yes, that’s right.’’

In a statement to the Globe yesterday, Coakley said that although she was disappointed that the Senate bill “gives states additional options regarding the funding mechanisms for women’s reproductive health services,’’ she would reluctantly support it because it would provide coverage for millions of uninsured people and reduce costs.

So how does the betrayal feel, ladies?

What bothers me is the rote repetition of the standard DemocraP lie about the plan. It is NOTHING MORE than a MANDATED TAX with the MONEY to be TRANSFERRED to FOR-PROFIT HEALTH CONGLOMERATES!

“It is a reminder that the battle for a public option and choice goes on,’’ she said.

And by REMOVING THOSE THINGS they are somehow going to be advanced?

Please explain that contradiction to me, Ms. State Attorney General.

More cut(?):

A number of abortion rights supporters in the Senate, including Senators Barbara Boxer of California and Patty Murray of Washington, have thrown their support behind the Senate bill, arguing the Senate's abortion provisions are less restrictive than those the House passed....

Yeah, you wouldn't want Bar to get too much mud on her, what with her benefiting financially from global warming legislation and all. Besides, it will all be dropped in conference, ladies, meaning no abortion included. That's the only way I see this getting through; it is not like liberals are going to vote no over it, either. No backbone.

It would be extremely difficult for Coakley to be willing to be the only Democratic senator standing in the way of the party’s most important priority this year.

Yeah, the party leaders are going to bend them all over and woe to those who do not go along (especially after they worked so hard to get
Joe Lieberman and Ben Nelson to go along).

The special election for the Senate seat left vacant following the death of Senator Edward M. Kennedy in August will be held Jan. 19. Because the Senate is tentatively scheduled to reconvene the same day, whoever wins the election will probably vote on the final bill negotiated by a conference committee....

So all that time and money was a waste, Bay State taxpayers!

It was all so DemocraPs could keep that 60th seat warm with a party flunky.

If I even bother; kind of sour on politics right now.

At least one leading Massachusetts abortion rights group seemed to sympathize with Coakley’s political plight yesterday.

I give up on you guys on that side. What, they abort backbones as well as fetuses?

“Her position is understandable, given the impossible choice that antichoice extremists have put members of the Senate and future members of the Senate in,’’ said Andrea Miller, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts. “With that said, this is one round, and we have confidence that moving forward, we’ll continue to work to remove these extreme provisions in the conference committee.’’

Oh, something is going to "aborted" all right, and its coverage for your "craft," killer.

You don't seriously think liberals will save you, do you?

What is going on down there, anyway?

This is also an updated rewrite so I will do the best I can.

"Senate health bill wins 1st vote; Christmas Eve passage likely" by Lisa Wangsness, Globe Staff | December 21, 2009

WASHINGTON - Elated Senate Democrats won the first critical procedural vote required to advance major health care legislation just after 1 a.m. this morning, one of four votes required this week to pass the proposal by their self-imposed Christmas deadline.

The vote was 60 to 40, with all 58 Democrats and two independents supporting the measure. Republicans stood united against it....

The voting schedule may hold political risks for Democrats. They are already bracing for a difficult midterm campaign in 2010, and with polls showing declining public support for the health care bill, Republicans will surely remind them that they pushed it through with votes at all hours and even on Christmas Eve night.

But we are going to have the thing rammed up the you-know-where, anyway, America -- and then you will have to pay through the nose to have that violated part of your anatomy treated.

“This process is not legislation. This process is corruption,’’ said Senator Tom Coburn, Republican of Oklahoma.

Yeah, I was WONDERING what STUNK!!

He was referring to the last-minute deal making that won over the final Democratic holdouts. Nelson, in addition to restrictions on abortion coverage, won several other concessions benefiting Nebraska, including a special deal underwriting Medicaid expansion there....

Now [MORE CUTS]!

[Washington was still digging out after one of the largest snowstorms it has seen in years]

Well, that one explains itself when one considers Climategate and the lying, agenda-pushing press treatment of such.

[Yesterday, Democrats rallied behind the measure, which] would provide the most extensive expansion of health care coverage in decades.

Now why change that to a blanket statement of fact for the web?

The BG's DemocraP bias shining through?

Under the proposal, about 31 million people would gain access to insurance, mostly through mechanisms that will make it easier and cheaper for them to buy private insurance.

Yeah, by BEING FORCED to PAY for some CRAP COVERAGE they CAN NOT AFFORD!!

And if you think government subsidy (isn't that your money anyway, taxpayer? Isn't that what the penalties are for?) is going to cover your ass, well, whooops, need a temperature!!!

The federal government would spend nearly $900 billion on subsidies to help low-income people purchase insurance, plus expansions to Medicaid, children’s health insurance programs, and tax credits to help small businesses buy insurance for employees. It is expected the cost will be offset by reduced Medicare spending, efforts to make health care more efficient, medical industry fees, and tax increases.

Yup, EXPANDING on ONE HAND, CONTRACTING on the OTHER -- meanwhile, the AmeriKan MSM is treating the public to the political ball in the air that means nothing!

Because of opposition from moderate Democrats, the Senate bill does not have a government-run insurance plan of the kind that the House approved last month. Instead, Americans purchasing coverage through new insurance marketplaces, or “exchanges’’ - open to those without access to affordable insurance through work - would have the option of signing up for private[ly-owned,] nonprofit [nationwide] plans overseen by the [same] government [office that supervises the health system used by federal employees and members of Congress.]

Now WHY WOULD THAT need to have been REEDITED and REWRITTEN, huh?

Related: A Healthy Insult For the American People

What, public might get angry because THAT is NOT the PLAN YOU WILL BE GETTING from your "GOVERNMENT-OVERSEEN" PLAN!!!

But you CAN NOT have SINGLE-PAYER!!!

The lack of a true government-run insurance option has roiled the Democratic Party, as have the restrictions on abortion coverage....

But SO WHAT? They VOTE FOR THEM anyway, so PFFFFFFTTTT!!!!

--more--"

Yes, you will be GETTING a HEALTH TAX from the Senate as a CHRISTMAS GIFT, America!!

And just wait until you open it! Who knows what evil will be lurking inside!!!
