Obama's Opaqueness

Blah, blah, blah, transparency, blah, blah, blah, BULLS***, blah, blah, blah.

I'm just as guilty as the rest of the American public; I didn't vote for the guy (I went Nader), but I did think he would open up some about Bush crimes and transgressions.

No such luck; he continues them as well as hiding and
defending them.

Well, he is a long-lost cousin, right?

"High court denies detainee photo bid; Justices say US can block release of abuse evidence" by Associated Press | December 1, 2009

WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court yesterday threw out an appeals court ruling ordering the disclosure of photographs of detainees being abused by their US captors.

In doing so, the high court cited a recent change in federal law that allows the pictures to be withheld.... President Obama at first didn’t oppose the release, but he changed his mind, saying the photos could whip up anti-American sentiment overseas and endanger US troops.

OUR ACTIONS are whipping up sentiment!

This is designed NOT to keep the knowledge from our "enemies" -- THEY KNOW what is going on because the TORTURE is being done to them -- this is designed to HIDE TORTURE from the American people!

Because if the American people SAW the REAL TRUTH in PHOTOGRAPHS that LAST FOREVER rather than ONE-DAY WONDER NEWS STORIES that VANISH as quick as they came!!!

And do YOU KNOW WHAT ENDANGERS American troops?

Sending 30,000 more of them into a meat grinder to guard drug profits and yet-to-be-built oil pipelines!

The administration appealed the matter to the Supreme Court, but also worked with Congress to give Defense Secretary Robert Gates the power to keep from the public all pictures of foreign detainees being abused. Gates invoked his new authority in mid-November, saying widespread distribution of the pictures would endanger American soldiers....

They are ALREADY IN DANGER because THIS GOVERNMENT SAYS TORTURE is OKAY!!!

Not only that, they are saying a lot of other nefarious and evil deeds are okay -- and HIDING THEM ON YOU, America!

"Release of secret reports delayed; Spy agencies foil Obama plan for transparency" by Bryan Bender, Globe Staff | November 29, 2009

Yeah, that's a tough one; they will literally take your head off.

(Blog editor's note: even typing that I feel a pang in my chest cavity; to shatter the CIA into a thousand pieces and scatter it to the winds.... blam, blam!)

WASHINGTON - President Obama will maintain a lid of secrecy on millions of pages of military and intelligence documents that were scheduled to be declassified by the end of the year, according to administration officials.

:-(

The history I learned in my state school was such bulls***, and this stinking government hides its evil deeds for so long.

As they say to us when they as they construct their global surveillance grid:

If you have DONE NOTHING WRONG, what is there to HIDE?!!!!

I'm RIGHT HERE!! Other than the unique name I leave anon, I'M HERE!!!!

The missed deadline spells trouble for the White House’s promises to introduce an era of government openness, say advocates, who believe that releasing historical information enforces a key check on government behavior.

Well, I'd kind of given up on him and his promises, and last night's troop escalation did it for me.

No more hope for or faith in the 'Bombster!

They cite as an example the abuses by the Central Intelligence Agency during the Cold War, including domestic spying and assassinations of foreign officials, that were publicly outlined in a set of agency documents known as the “family jewels.’’

Breaking News: Bush Spying Program Massive

Not only that, the spying has been going on a LOT LONGER than you THOUGHT, America!!! It STARTED under BILL CLINTON?!!!!

As for the CIA's activities all these years, pick a nation. I'm sure you will find some activity there -- unless it is some atoll in the Pacific (and even then....)
.

The documents in question - all more than 25 years old - were scheduled to be declassified on Dec. 31 under an order originally signed by President Bill Clinton and amended by President George W. Bush.

Oh, THEY DON'T WANT US LEARNING ABOUT Iran-Contra, cooperation with Hussein against Iran, and tons of other rat-fucking s*** that occurred in the 1980s!!! That's because WE MIGHT LYNCH THOSE INVOLVED -- like GATES there!!! He was UP TO HIS NECK in this s***!!!!

Yeah, 25 years may have gone by but IT IS THE SAME PEOPLE RUNNING the SHOW as they MOVE THROUGH the REVOLVING DOOR and into the CORRIDORS of POWER and CORPORATE SUITES!!!!

Thanks for lifting the lid, Obama!

But now Obama finds himself in the awkward position of extending the secrecy, despite his repeated pledges of greater transparency, because his administration has been unable to prod spy agencies into conformance.

So WHO is really running this government, readers?

The PRESIDENT should NOT HAVE to "prod" the intel agencies about ANYTHING!!!

Don't they WORK for HIM, for US, Americans?

That is ALL YOUR PAPER and YOUR HISTORY (such as it is, seeing as it is government documents; who knows how much will be limited hangout bulls***?).

YOU PAID FOR ALL of IT with YOUR TAX DOLLARS!!

Some of the agencies have thrown up roadblocks to disclosure, engaged in turf battles over how documents should be evaluated, and have reviewed only a fraction of the material to determine whether releasing them would jeopardize national security.

I thought they were all working together after 9/11, blah, blah, blah, blah.

Besides, we are TALKING OVER 25 YEARS AGO!

In the face of these complications, the White House has given the agencies a commitment that they will get an extension beyond Dec. 31 of an undetermined length - possibly years, said the administration officials, who spoke on the condition they not be identified discussing internal deliberations. It will be the third such extension: Clinton granted one in 2000 and Bush granted one in 2003.

Yeah, didn't the BG flak make the secrecy sound good earlier by calling it "amended?"

The documents, dating from World War II to the early 1980s, cover the gamut of foreign relations, intelligence activities, and military operations - with the exception of nuclear weapons data, which remain protected by Congress.

There you go!

They are opening up a whole Pandora's box of war crimes, from Indonesia and Suharto's slaughter of half-a-million over a CIA-provided list of "communists" to all the 1950s covert chaos the CIA raised in the world, the rigged elections, the assassinations of foreign leaders, the false flags, the false fronts, and on and on....

Problem is, the world really knows about them all anyway, and WE NO LONGER NEED GOVERNMENT or MSM CONFIRMATION for ANYTHING because they are PROVEN LIARS!!!

Limited to information generated by more than one agency, the records in question are held by the Central Intelligence Agency; the National Security Agency; the departments of Justice, State, Defense, and Energy; and other security and intelligence agencies....

The USUAL SUSPECTS!!!!

Officials said an executive order that has been drafted by the White House to replace a disclosure order that Bush signed in 2003 is meeting resistance from key national security and intelligence officials, delaying its approval.... A key concern among intelligence agencies is that they could lose what amounts to veto power over disclosure of their secrets that are maintained by other agencies, according to several officials who have been privy to the agency comments on the draft executive order.

I'm sorry, but THERE SHOULD BE NO SECRETS in our 'democracy!"

Also, a turf war has broken out over which spy agency should be represented on a panel set up in 1996 to hear appeals from people who are seeking the release of information. Obama aides want the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, set up in 2005 to oversee all spy agencies, to replace the CIA, much to the consternation of CIA officials, the officials said.

The White House is meeting even more resistance on its position that no information shall remain classified indefinitely.

WTF?!

Depending on the type of information involved, the White House is proposing that virtually all classified information - not just some categories - be automatically released 25 years, 50 years, or in the case of records that involve intelligence sources, 75 years after they are created....

That NOT LONG ENOUGH, huh?

What are you worried about? I'm not making it that far, and the kid don't know shit because of the schools, so.... ?

The documents in question are considered part of the nation’s permanent record, and therefore hold special historical significance....

Yup, and YOU CAN'T SEE THEM, Ameica!!

YOU PAID for them, but YOU CAN'T SEE THEM and here is why:

"Covert action programs, a particularly secret category in which the role of the United States is hidden"

As your HISTORY must be HIDDEN from you, American!!!

If you KNEW the LIES upon which your world is founded and upon which the masters control you, you would RISE UP and STRING 'EM UP -- and THEY KNOW IT!

As the delays mount, so does the backlog of classified data to be reviewed....

Oh, DON'T I KNOW THAT FEELING!!!!!!!

Update:

He even knows about
Slow Saturday.

"White House public relations team aims bad news for fewest ears; Adverse reports often surface on weekends, holidays" by Sharon Theimer, Associated Press | December 2, 2009

WASHINGTON - President Obama entered the White House promising a new era of openness in government, but when it comes to bad news, his administration often uses one of the oldest tricks in the public relations playbook: putting it out when the fewest people are likely to notice.

White House environmental adviser Van Jones’s resignation over controversial comments hit the trifecta of below-the-radar timing: The White House announced the departure overnight on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, when few journalists were on duty and few Americans awake, much less paying attention to the news.

Yeah, well, I'M HERE FOR THEM!

Related: Another Moving Van on 9/11

MSM sure cleaned that up, huh?

Yup, not even a whiff of 9/11 (or any other) truth.

As with past administrations, Friday looks like a popular day to “take out the trash,’’ as presidential aides on the TV drama “The West Wing’’ matter-of-factly called it.

So much for change, huh, America?

Along with weekends, holidays, and the dark of night, the final stretch of the work week, when many news consumers tune out, is a common time for news unlikely to benefit the president to be released....

Thus Slow Saturday sticks.
