Obama's Surge

"Obama and McChrystal said the idea was to mimic - to some extent - the Bush administration’s troop increase in Iraq"

You do know that Bush's
failed, right?

"Obama says he’ll know by 2011 if war plan a success; Dec. 1 speech on Afghan strategy ‘hit me in the gut’" by Steve R. Hurst, Associated Press | December 14, 2009

WASHINGTON - President Obama said in an interview yesterday that he will know by the end of 2010 if his Afghan strategy is working, and pledges to change direction if the US military is not on course “in terms of securing population centers’’ from Taliban militants....

Does that mean LEAVING? If not, SHADDUP!!!!

He issued the troop increase even as support for the war was crumbling among the public and opposed by many fellow Democrats in Congress.

Obviously we are last on the list of people who matter here in the land of AmeriKan democracy.

Many observers said Obama appeared overly analytical and emotionally detached in ordering still more Americans into an increasingly violent mission against the Taliban to prevent their takeover of the Afghan government and a feared return of Al Qaeda terrorists....

Who said that?

Obama also answered critics who saw ambiguity in ordering the big troop increase while then saying some of them probably would begin coming home in July 2011. That’s the date when US military forces plan to start handing security responsibility to Afghan soldiers and police who would undergo intensive recruitment and training. “We then start transitioning into a drawdown phase,’’ Obama repeated, noting that specifics were conditional. “How many US troops are coming out, how quickly, will be determined by conditions on the ground.’’

Has someone actually checked this guy to make sure he is not George Bush in some sort of costume?

“If the approach that’s been recommended doesn’t work, then yes, we’re going to be changing approaches,’’ he said.

I take that to mean FURTHER ESCALATION!

Can't leave a FAILED MISSION and LOST WAR out there, right?

Obama quickly added that the deadline was necessary to alert the Afghan leadership that the United States was not going to make Afghanistan an American “protectorate.’’

General Stanley McChrystal, the US commander in Afghanistan, agreed to the mission of securing the population, saying success would mean “over time they [the Taliban] become irrelevant and ineffective.’’

First of all, I do not think INTRODUCING MORE VIOLENCE is going to "secure' anybody (except drug profits and war loot).

And secondly, the "Taliban" are going to be far from irrelevant and ineffective because THEY LIVE THERE!!!!

Yeah, we are KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE over a LIE, America!!

Do you feel good about yourself this Sunday?

Obama and McChrystal said the idea was to mimic - to some extent - the Bush administration’s troop increase in Iraq that deflated the Sunni insurgency there by bringing many of its fighters into the US fight to de-fang the Al Qaeda forces. The terrorist organization moved into the country after the United States invaded and removed Saddam Hussein from power.

Woah, woah, woah, WHAT?!!!!

A FART POOT of TOO LATE TRUTH from the MSM?!!

In Afghanistan yesterday, Britain’s prime minister tried to smooth relations with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and renew Britain’s commitment to the war despite its unpopularity back home.

Yeah, another great example of western "democracy."

Prime Minister Gordon Brown said he would ship helicopters, equipment, and roadside-bomb-surveillance devices, along with 500 reinforcements he recently announced will join 9,500 British troops deployed mostly in southern Afghanistan. Regions of Afghanistan are at the “epicenter’’ of the global terrorist threat, Brown said, defending his decision to sent more British forces to war.

F*** that fat hunk of s***!

Brown recently sharply criticized the Afghan leader, saying that Britain would not continue risking the lives of its soldiers to defend a corrupt government. But in a news conference in Kandahar province, he refrained from confrontation.

Btw, whatever happened with that
IRAQ WAR INQUIRY, huh, MSM?

And this is going to take a LOT LONGER than the 'bambster told you, 'murka!!!

"Afghan troop surge will take longer; Top commander says it could be 9 to 11 months" by Anne Gearan, Associated Press | December 15, 2009

And the LONGER it takes to BEGIN the LONGER it will take to END, right?

KABUL, Afghanistan - The military may not finish its surge of 30,000 American troops to Afghanistan until nearly a year from now, a senior US commander said yesterday - a slower pace than President Obama has described.

What is it, a requirement that you be a liar to hold the office?

The White House insisted it was sticking with a goal of completing the buildup by late summer....

At least they are sticking to their lies like Bush would ha.... !

But
it will probably be nine to 11 months before all the troops are in place, Lieutenant General David Rodriguez said. The timing is important. The sooner the full complement of 30,000 can get there, the sooner the added firepower might have an effect on turning around the war and creating conditions that will allow the Pentagon to proceed with Obama’s promise to begin withdrawing troops....

Military officials had been hinting in recent weeks that the escalation might take slightly longer than the summer goal, suggesting the administration’s announcement of such a rapid escalation might not be entirely firm. Rodriguez’s comments yesterday set off a flurry of reactions both at the White House and the Pentagon....

Admiral Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, at a press conference shortly after arriving in Afghanistan for a check on preparations for the new forces, expressed concern about the “growing level of collusion’’ between Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan and Al Qaeda and other militant groups taking refuge across the border in Pakistan. He said that he would discuss it with Pakistan officials. Mullen is touring US outposts and will also travel to Pakistan....

Yup, they ALWAYS have to CONFLATE the TWO NATIONS!

You SEE WHERE this is ALL GOING, right?

It is a complex effort to arrange for the barracks, equipment and tons of other supplies that enable incoming soldiers and Marines to perform their mission. Some will move to Afghanistan from the United States; some materiel will be shifted from Iraq or Kuwait, which serves as a staging area for the Iraq war.

Or not
: Occupation Iraq: What We Left Behind

Afghanistan is logistically tougher than Iraq, in terms of a troop buildup, because it is landlocked and lacks the more extensive network of highways that proved valuable in the 2007 Iraq buildup.

Of course, that was a country under sanction for 12 years, but....

Ready for a
LONG, HARD SLOG, America?

And what's a surge without a lying, agenda-pushing poll backing it up?

"Latest poll gives Obama high marks for Afghanistan

WASHINGTON - Americans like seeing President Obama finally tackle Afghanistan - even if most don’t support his plans.

The latest Associated Press-GfK poll shows the president’s marks for handling the 8-year-old war have jumped by double digits - more than half now approve - since he capped a three-month strategy review by announcing a big troop increase....

Yup, we are all souring on the war but support the surge, yup?

Wanna buy a turd, 'murkn?

But despite his prime-time TV speech explaining how he reached his decision, there was no change in the public’s resistance to escalation. Just 42 percent favor sending more troops while 56 percent oppose it, essentially unchanged from November.

I don't even think the sending them number is that high.

Hey, this is an easy lie for the MSM considering the whoppers like Iraq, 9/11, and Global Warming.

The findings suggest limits to Obama’s persuasive skills - and underscore what’s seemingly become the public’s default position in his first year in office: People like him, but they’re squeamish about his policy.

He's so Reaganesque, isn't he, liberals?

Yeah, somehow the numbers do not add up.

FLASHBACKS:

"In poll, majority of young adults disapproves of US troop buildup in Afghanistan" by Andrew Ryan, Globe Staff | December 4, 2009

A poll out yesterday suggests that, overall, Americans support Obama’s new Afghanistan strategy - but just barely. The USA Today/Gallup survey found that 51 percent favor the plan, while 40 percent oppose it....

What BULLS***!!!

Related: Americans Want Out of Afghanistan

Yeah, it is up to about 70% now, but that never stopped the MSM from putting out shit-skew polls!!

Because THOSE NUMBERS do NOT ADD UP, folks!!!!

In another poll out yesterday, two-thirds of young adults oppose sending more US troops to Afghanistan, according to a national poll released yesterday by the Harvard University Institute of Politics that suggests fissures in a key demographic that helped President Obama capture the White House.

And if THEY are opposed....!!!!

The survey also indicated that a majority of people ages 18 to 29 disapprove of Obama’s handling of the economy, health care, Iran, and the federal budget deficit.

The YOUNG KIDS are STARTING TO WAKE UP!!!!

They RECOGNIZE BETRAYAL when they see it!

But the president remains popular among young adults, with 58 percent of those surveyed approving of his job performance. That dichotomy marks a shift that brings the younger generation more in line with older members of the electorate. “They are beginning to look more and more like their parents,’’ said Bill Purcell, director of the Institute of Politics, which has been studying the attitudes of young voters since 2000. “They still have faith in the president as their leader, but they are now disagreeing with him on specific issues.’’

Not anyone I know, and I live in Massachusetts!!!

People are BUMMED OUT by the GUY!!

************************

The poll found that 55 percent of the young adults surveyed disapproved of how he has handled Afghanistan. Obama’s marks for the economy and health care were slightly better, with 52 percent saying they disapproved of his performance on each issue.

Readers, he is UNDER 50% with THIS GROUP so HOW CAN HE BE ABOVE 50% overall?!!

Then THROW THIS in the MIX and ask yourself HOW America SUPPORTS his SURGE (and I will tell you how at the end of this post)
:

"Isolationism growing in US, poll says" by Associated Press | December 4, 2009

WASHINGTON - Americans are turning away from the world, showing a tendency toward isolationism in foreign affairs that has risen to the highest level in four decades, a poll out yesterday indicated.

Almost half, 49 percent, told the polling organization that the United States should “mind its own business’’ internationally and let other countries get along the best they can on their own, the Pew Research Center survey suggested. That’s up from 30 percent who said that in December 2002.

But 51% are FOR Obama's ESCALATION!!

The results of the survey appear to conflict with President Obama’s activist foreign policy....

Yup, SURE DO!!!

Thirty-two percent of the poll respondents favored increasing the number of US troops in Afghanistan, while 40 percent favored decreasing them. And 46 percent of those polled said it was somewhat or very likely that Afghanistan would be able to withstand the radicals’ threat.

Oh, ONLY 32% favor sending troops here, huh?

So HOW IS IT that America SUPPORTS the SURGE, readers?

The AmeriKan MSM LIES!!!!!!

A 10-point swing means "unchanged?"
