Selecting a Senator: Globe Disrespects Kennedy

Also see: Selecting a Senator: A Kennedy I Could Vote For

Why am I not surprised at the Globe's biased and insulting coverage?

"Senate hopefuls fire away in debate; Coakley, Brown at odds over health bill, climate" by Matt Viser and Andrea Estes, Globe Staff | December 22, 2009

The two major candidates for US Senate, Democrat Martha Coakley and Republican Scott Brown, faced off last night in their first debate of the special election....

“And Joe Kennedy,’’ said WBZ host Dan Rea, who moderated the discussion....

Oh, they almost forgot him!

And he was sitting right next to them!

Kennedy, a 38-year-old information technology executive from Dedham, is an active Libertarian. Rea grilled Kennedy as to whether he was qualified, suggesting he wouldn’t be fit to serve as a school committee member, much less a US senator.

And those other two clowns in the room (as well as the other 535 in Washington) are?

“The goal of our forefathers was not for people to be career political people,’’ Kennedy said, taking out a copy of the US Constitution....

Yeah, you wouldn't be interested in that if you are serving in government, huh, Globe?

Coakley Double-Crosses Women

"For Coakley, a primer in politics; Bill’s abortion limits are test for candidate" by Matt Viser, Globe Staff | December 22, 2009

Martha Coakley, with her announcement Sunday that she would support the Senate health care compromise despite its inclusion of some restrictions on abortion, has decided - despite simmering outrage among abortion rights groups - that it is a worthwhile trade-off....

Yeah, BETRAYAL never feels very good, does it?

Hey, I KNOW the FEELING, ladies!!!

It was a marked shift, at least in tone, from the attorney general’s comments earlier in the race, when she called the abortion issue “personal’’ to her, and suggested her stance was more “principled’’ than that of her Democratic opponents. Even last week, she said in an interview that if any provision were included in the health care legislation that went beyond a longstanding prohibition of federal funding of elective abortions, she would vote against it....

Hey, PRESSURE was APPLIED and Marty WILTED!!!

Is THAT what you want in your NEXT SENATOR, Massachusetts?

Coakley declined a request for comment yesterday....

Good thing no one cares about this race.

The attorney general has been a fierce abortion rights advocate, making her stance against any health care legislation that would limit abortion a cornerstone of her Senate bid.

Well, apparently not.

Her position threatened to put her in the odd predicament of voting against health care as her first vote after succeeding Edward M. Kennedy, who made it his life’s work to expand health care coverage. It would have incensed Democrats in Washington, who have worked to negotiate a delicate compromise.

"You won't get any staff, committee assignments, nothing, unless you vote for the bill" -- Democrat leadership of the Senate

The message was reinforced on Sunday morning, when the Washington Post published an op-ed by Kennedy’s widow, Vicki, saying that her late husband “predicted that as the Senate got closer to a vote, compromises would be necessary.’’

Yeah, but the former womanizer Ted was all for the ladies.

Is that why a lot of politicians want legalized abortion?

So they can kill any embarrassing mistakes?
