Mayor Menino's Aide Needs Help

"US details drug case facing aide to Menino; Informant taped meetings, agent says" by Jonathan Saltzman, Globe Staff | December 22, 2009

Mayor Thomas M. Menino’s liaison to East Boston met at his City Hall office in May with a man involved in the illegal drug trade, and offered to sell him a large amount of the prescription painkiller OyxContin and to help him get a city job, a federal agent testified yesterday.

Another criminal turned government informant?

The May 5 meeting between the neighborhood liaison, John M. Forbes, and the man - who was secretly cooperating with authorities and tape-recording the conversation - later resulted in Forbes selling 125 OxyContin tablets for $5,000 and giving away several ounces of marijuana, according to James Doyle, an agent for the Drug Enforcement Administration testifying in a hearing in US District Court in Boston....

This is what they should be doing, not busting pot smokers!

Assistant US Attorney Jeffrey M. Cohen said the 31-year-old city employee has been involved in the drug trade with several other men, including a convicted murderer, Anthony W. Cristallo of Derry, N.H. Cristallo is being sought by federal authorities on a one-count indictment for allegedly dealing OxyContin. “It’s very clear that Mr. Forbes was living two different lives,’’ said Cohen, adding that “the underside of that life was drug dealing.’’

Under questioning by Cohen, Doyle testified that Forbes came to the attention of federal authorities in June 2008. The cooperating witness told authorities that Forbes, Cristallo, and another man, Lawrence R. Taylor of Wakefield, sold drugs in the Boston area. The witness agreed to secretly tape conversations with the men....

That's why that puke was mentioned the other day.

On Aug. 20, the witness recorded a meeting at the house where the neighborhood liaison allegedly sold him the 125 OxyContin tablets, and gave him a free quarter-pound sample of marijuana valued at $1,600, Doyle said. Forbes made the transactions while his wife and two daughters, ages 2 and 4, were home, according to Doyle....

While the kids were there?

On Dec. 12, Boston police drug investigators spotted Cristallo in a parked Mercedes-Benz in East Boston, possibly making a drug deal, Doyle said. They followed the car back to Forbes’s house, and Cristallo and Forbes entered the home. The police knocked on the door and asked Forbes whether they could question Cristallo inside, but Forbes refused, Doyle said....

Unreal!

Another man who was allegedly involved in the drug trafficking group was Joseph D’Amelio, an MIT police officer who was arrested by state authorities in March along with Cristallo, who is his cousin, on charges of trafficking OxyContin and Roxicodone tablets, said Cohen.

So the COP is a DRUG DEALER, huh?

That EXPLAINS a WHOLE PILE!!

Dot Joyce, Menino’s spokeswoman, declined to answer questions about the case.... She said city officials seized Forbes’s computer at City Hall “out of an abundance of caution.’’ Federal authorities have not asked the city for permission to search the computer, she said....

Why do they need permission?

They don't need permission to search yours or mine, readers!!
