Boston Globe Point Break

I've reached mine; how 'bout you?

"Hurricane Igor may remain at sea 5 days" by Associated Press | September 14, 2010

MIAMI — Powerful Hurricane Igor is roaring far out in the Atlantic and forecasters expect it to remain over open water through at least the end of the week....

Then I'm not going to worry about it!

Also in the Atlantic, Tropical Storm Julia is moving west, away from the southern Cape Verde Islands off west Africa. Julia’s maximum sustained winds were near 50 miles per hour and it could soon become a hurricane....

What you come to reliaze is THIS SEASON has been a DUD despite the endless corporate media hype to convince you that the big, bad storms are caused by global warming -- and now fork over that tax buck for interacting with the environment so the lying, looting elitists running this show can get rich of (literally) THIN AIR!

In the Caribbean, the hurricane center is tracking several thunderstorms that are given a 40 percent chance of organizing into a tropical storm in the next two days.

They are really, really, reaching.

It said they may bring heavy rainfall to Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and the Cayman Islands.

Yeah, isn't it interesting that coverage of
Haiti has vanished once the rebuilding effort failed?

Who stole all that loot?

Wasn't
George W. Bush supposed to be in charge of that?

"
Bush said the best thing people can do is to send money. "I know a lot of people want to send blankets or water. Just send your cash.... "But what these gentlemen are going to be able to do is when the news media starts seeing its attention drift to other things but there's still enormous needs on the ground, these two gentlemen of extraordinary stature, I think, are going to be able to help ensure that these efforts are sustained," Obama said of Bush and Bill Clinton."

Wasn't my impression, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Obama's words ringing kind of hollow now -- like everything else he has said.

Same with the ding-dong Globe:

"Igor is making some waves; Cruise ship alters course; surfers eager" by Travis Andersen and L. Finch, Globe Staff | Globe Correspondent | September 18, 2010

Hurricane Igor is expected to be hundreds of miles from the Massachusetts coast, but its potential for creating a stir in the ocean led officials to issue a high surf advisory along the outer Cape through at least this evening.

The hurricane also forced a Bermuda-bound cruise ship from Boston to change course yesterday and head for Florida....

Meanwhile, surfers in New England were primed for an exciting weekend....

I think we can come off red alert then. Sigh.

"Hurricane Igor batters Bermuda; Mexico’s death toll from Karl rises to 12" by Associated Press | September 20, 2010

Veracruz, Mexico, was dealing with flooding and landslides following Hurricane Karl as Hurricane Igor lashed Bermuda.

HAMILTON, Bermuda — Fierce waves pounded Bermuda’s shores and strained yacht moorings late yesterday as winds tore at trees and signs while a weakened Hurricane Igor passed just west of the wealthy British enclave....

Only serving their elite readership.

In Mexico yesterday, officials raised to 12 the death toll from Hurricane Karl, which made landfall on the nation’s Gulf Coast on Friday and soaked Veracruz, Puebla, and Tabasco states in the south-central part of the country.

At least 30,000 people were displaced by flooding and landslides in Veracruz, according the Civil Protection Agency....

Igor’s eye passed about 40 miles west of Bermuda before midnight, the hurricane center said. But hurricane-force winds extended up to 90 miles from the eye. The storm was expected to veer northeast away from the United States — after passing Bermuda....

The same way I am going to veer away from the Globe soon.

Oh, yeah, about Karl:

"
Karl kills two before weakening; Mexico shutters its nuclear plant as storm arrives" by Miguel Angel Hernandez, Associated Press | September 18, 2010

VERACRUZ, Mexico — Hurricane Karl smashed into Mexico’s Gulf Coast yesterday, killing at least two people and forcing the country to shut down its only nuclear power plant and its central Gulf Coast oil platforms....

Karl weakened rapidly into a tropical storm with winds of 70 miles per hour as it slogged across central Mexico....

Or we are just being lied to by the corporate media.

But, of course, it's not like they would lie about the weather, would they?

Telling you this year was the hottest on record (pfft) while concealing the record-cold winter south of the equator this year?

And if they will lie about the weather, what wouldn't they lie about?

We already have seen their penchant for lies about wars.

Is it possible they could be lying (at worst) or misrepresenting (at best) your "news," America?

The storm caused widespread damage in the port city, knocking down trees, billboards, and power poles, said Veracruz’s civil protection chief, Isidro Cano Luna. He said there had not been a storm like it since Hurricane Janet hit in 1955....

Must have been global warming, sigh.

Local forecasters said the storm dumped 8 inches of rain in the city in the first 90 minutes after arriving. Flights into Veracruz were canceled, and public transit was shut down....

This seems much more of a significant storm than Igor, but the media just left it.

About 80,000 people have had their homes damaged and nine people have been killed in flooding from previous heavy rains in southern Veracruz since Aug. 19. Officials expressed concern Karl could raise river levels again, just as some residents were thinking of returning to their homes.

Well, I guess they have it cleaned up two days later. I dunno. Not depending on a Globe for my news every day.

And a lone report from close by:

"Charter bus crash leaves 18 injured

SANGER — A charter bus struck a highway barrier after leaving Dallas early yesterday morning, injuring 18 people, including one seriously. The bus left Dallas and was headed to Oklahoma City when it crashed just after midnight near Vanger, about 50 miles north of Dallas, said Trooper Lonny Haschel of the Texas Department of Safety. The bus driver told authorities that a vehicle swerved in front of him and he took evasive action by pulling into the inside shoulder of the highway.

Was it raining?
