Boston Globe Snake in the Grass

A Cambridge man received a slithering, scaly surprise Sunday morning when he discovered a 4-foot boa constrictor in his apartment, police said....

An animal control officer took the snake to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ care and adoption center in Boston, where the cold, hungry reptile was placed into foster care with a staff member, said Brian Adams, a spokesman for the MSPCA....

"AND BABY MAKES THREE -- Franklin Park Zoo welcomed this not-so-little baby zebra, as yet unnamed, on Monday. Resting comfortably close to his mother, Cheyenne, he weighs about 60 to 75 pounds, according to zoo officials. The animals are of the species Grant's zebras. His father, James, is not pictured (Boston Globe September 11 2010)."

"BUDDING FAMILY -- Kiki, one of seven lowland gorillas at the Franklin Park Zoo, will be the guest of honor at a baby shower this weekend. She is expected to give birth to her third baby between this month and late December. Visitors who bring baby shower gifts will get discounted admission. All items will be donated to a charity that serves babies born into low-income homes. Father, Kitombe, is in the background (Boston Globe September 11 2010)."
